~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Shadows of gray, dimming to dusk, then praying
like a dark winged raven – still as twilight
but pleading for the restlessness of afternoon storms,
wishing and believing, starving for the distant
glories – before the moments were spattered with dread,
before the colors were changed from light to a muted blue,
hesitating in the music, playing a cool, still ghostly tune
of what it means for the stars to let go of the moon,
what it means for the summer to let go of the sun,
what it means for the forest to let go of its leaves,
what it means for me to live in this life without you,
my moon, my sun, the leaves that dance in the breeze,
the me who believes, because you are gone,
summertime will never visit me again,
love will never grace my heart again,
light will never say, “shine with hope” again!
You were like a tender rose,
enchanting my spirit with your grace,
never hesitating to girdle me in your embrace,
always touching me with faith,
amazing me with your compassion, singing
like the poem who never stops composing
music like warmth, kissing away the darkness,
filling me with a sense of joy,
a gladness that never stops listening,
whispering through the rain, the snow, the storm,
serenity like only love can invite,
stirring a sensitive that only you could ignite,
promising me the world, heaven’s gift,
your love listening and preventing me from doubt,
soothing away every dark cloud,
writing the poetry in my soul’s manuscript,
pouring out light across my life,
you sing a song of hope throughout all time!
In your shadow, I find tears
remembering the grief, yet choking back the fears,
without you, am I really here?
finding solace in the joy you wrote
over my heart, my spirit, my thoughts,
joy only known by those who have loved deeply,
with love that can complete them,
love that heals and stills every tear, all fears,
whispering light across the night
and filling life with a sense of beautiful
that is beyond words, beyond songs,
beautiful that longs to see me through the dark,
silence each shadow with its hope,
forever, you will remain inside my thoughts,
inside my heart, forever – you will remain
my life’s brightest star,
my soul’s brightest song,
the music that caresses me when I’m wrong,
the melody that promises me
Yes, I can go on!
