Born in Skipton raised in the village of addingham in wharfedale, moved to New Zealand for 36 years, now a resident of Perth Western Australia, i have 2 sons 3 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren..Sons were born in the uk, 2 grandchildren in New Zealand, 1 grandchild and 4 great grandchildren are true blue aussies.

Dear all, it is with great sadness and a heavy heart I have to let you know that our Harry sadly passed away this afternoon Australia time 2:30 pm, surrounded by his family. He passed peacefully in his sleep which is a comfort to all. His daughter-in-law, Sheryl, has asked me to thank you all for your kind messages, prayers, and joy you brought to his life. I can only reiterate those thanks. Mandy x

Harry was a gentleman of the highest degree. He was supportive of so many poets on this site. In addition, Harry was a gifted, creative poet whose words + rhymes sparked thought + reflection in his readers. We do miss Harry's presence on Poetrysoup, though thankfully we still have his verses to re-discover. Sincerest sympathy to Harry's family + friends. He was a great guy in all respects.

So sorry to hear of the demise of harry, a gentleman poet. Though hoped that he will once more come back to health and life, fate decreed otherwise. In a way he has been lucky that he didn't suffer much and was called back in his sleep. My deep condolences. May his soul rest in peace.

The passing of yet another significant poet is a great loss. We are saddened by Harry's passing. This news stings, despite the fact that I was prepared for the end to come quickly. Mandy and friends there will always be a poem in Harry's heart. That's what I always cherish, and remember. His last poem is so fitting, profound, and prophetic ... as if he completed the final touches of his journey, bidding farewell to his family, loved ones, and fellow poets. ~~~Thwarted/Haiku clement moons lose glow... sun rises dries dewy tears heart of mist broken~~~ Harry, thank you for that poem. I see and feel it clearly, including the title (it's quite subliminal). Condolences and prayers to his family and loved ones.

Harry will be greatly missed. Always a caring man, whos comments were always uplifting and kind. He was an intellectual that was shown through his exceptional Poetry. He has gone to a much better place in Heaven, for he truly knew our Lord. I am so sorry...feeling so sad! Harry has left us - hard to believe! I joined this site three years ago, and felt his kind presence many times. On top of being a stellar poet, Harry was a true gentleman, and a kind-hearted human being, who used to inspire me and many other poets with his encouraging comments.
