IT'S A SIMPLE FACT

Blog Posted by Harry Horsman: 3/30/2021 8:21:00 PM

It's a simple fact, yet so warm a feeling, when writing a comment on other poets work. I notice when posted it gives us the local (U.S) time. Regardless of the difference, my own time zone is 15 hours ahead here in Western Australia. I take on board the time of the other comments around the one i've just written. It is here where i get a warm feeling of belonging, that at this exact moment somewhere in the world, other poets on soup are doing the same as i am, that soup is bringing us altogether creates a picture in my mind, knowing i'm sat here at my desk in my room, i imagine if it is the same for everyone else, or maybe it is a completely different situation, would be nice to have feed back from everyone..

Greetings Harry, Aside from the nuances of time~ Of the poetry mountain we climb~ I like the different looks and chimes~ How each person's step unique and prime~ The view of those up-wordly, sublime~ So to those that still green as a lime~ The journey itself been the best rhyme~

Keith,Michael Holding(poetry in motion) was among the greatest fast bowlers as this clip shows (not too visually) perhaps the greatest fast bowling over of that genre...https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=loYyJllsj68

Harry, one thing I notice as a 'continuing contest 'sponsor is how entries thereto reflect the worldwide waking hours 'time' differential..I can almost set my clock by it !!! Mind you Harry these days ' day night cricket ' has changed this aspect somewhat for the better.

Alec Bedser was my boyhood cricket hero Harry, years later in the 80s I met him,at a sponsor box lunch,at Lords.A dream come true....I remember Alec had very large hands,no wonder he was such a great test bowler ,different but a peer to Freddie

I do Harry, over 300 test wickets ,my brother-in-law (to be )was in the same RAF camp as Freddie during National Service. My principal to whom I was articled, was 'built ' just like Truman Yorkshire born but 'only' made it to their second eleven in pre war years.

So True, i wonder sometimes when entering a contest with my date here in Western Australia, the sponsor thinks i got a day ahead of myself being we so far in front. Also, Born a Yorkshire man cricket is in the blood. Fiery Freddie Truman i knew, when he lived in Skipton, Do you remember him?
Date: 4/1/2021 5:43:00 AM
The good thing about waking up at strange hours is you get to meet poets youve never seen before, have written many poems in the dead mans hour, ideas I went to bed with suddenly start bombarding me and as you know if you don't write it you lose it. And the beauty of being retired is you can go back to bed to have your second half of sleep. Having worked shifts in my career has screwed up my body clock. Tom

I sure can relate to your comment Tom, having worked what we called unsociable hours, for over fifty years of my life. And yes the effect is still relevant, where Poetry comes to me best at 4am in the morning, usually after a cup of coffee.

Hi Harry, It is 7:45 am on April Fool's Day. The garden services woke me up 15 min ago here in SA ... Will write a bit later on when both eyes are open (still sipping my morning coffee). Thank goodness for autocorrect otherwise you would have been reading gibberish :))

OMG, I can't believe someone on PS would have told you that, Daniel, but if you say so. I would completely ignore such rudeness and keep on doing what I am doing. True...I've read some dreadful doggerel on here, but I keep encouraging and know that one day that person will write something meaningful and memorable. We want you!!!!

Yes, even TBP. It would be nice if TBP chose not-so-nice targets and if they didn't delete evidence, but that is part of the game.

I am within 15 miles of the Memphis TN. area. I post morning here, mid day here. night and after midnight here. That is because I wake so often. My sleep pattern is almost never eight straight hours. And yes, it is comforting to see and know that also- other poets are reading, writing and commenting at those same times. That others are engaged in the same pursuit and are blessed and very fine artists that also truly and deeply love poetry.. God bless..
