Robert's upbringing was in the heart of Appalachia, surrounded by the scars of strip mines and piles of gob. He began writing poetry and short stories while a freshman in high school. His life career was in the technology sector. He published his technical writing in national and international trade publications. He now lives in an appealing, small town nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
He has published his work with the Society of Classical Poets. Wind and Water Press, and others. His poetry has been included in the "Reflections on the Important Things" anthology by Poetry Soup. He published his first poetry chapbook in 2023. The title is "Hindsights 2020," and includes his observations and experiences during the height of the pandemic.
He uses the techniques of elision and enjambment in his poetry to preserve meter. Formalism shapes his poetry, influencing its structure and style. He considers message the key to poetry, but believes form increases the enjoyment and influence of the writing.
He finds inspiration in the poetic works of Robert Service, Rudyard Kipling, and A E Housman. Jimmy Stewart's poem "A Dog Named Beau" holds a special place in his heart as one of his favorite pieces of literature.
In 2018, Robert began publishing his creative writing, including poetry, short stories, fables, and essays. Since then, he has accumulated over 20 victories in contests for Limericks, rhyming poetry, and short stories.
He weaves his THOUGHTS, EMOTIONS, and BELIEFS into paper as an observational writer.
