Midnight Typhoon

Spring tide pounding against a rocky relationship between the new moon and earth’s pie in the sky. On an island of one’s own making in the mind — like a whirlpool when imagination slips away on a one-way ticket to disaster — no peace to find. Stonewalling rest with stress and anxiety. You know, I wrote most of this one night around 03:00 am when I couldn’t sleep. I jotted notes down on my phone notepad. I was aggravated because I work nights & often do not get home until 02:00-03:00. I had a chance to get some real sleep. As I lie there, I thought about all the other people who have the same kind of thoughts replaying like a movie because of stress/worry in their lives. My husband snoring next to me sparked my imagination for the noise. I just took the idea from there the next day while it was still fresh. I really didn’t know if people could relate or get the feel of this poem. I wanted it to be received w/more than one meaning so that whoever read it could empathize. When we use our imagination, poetry can mean whatever we read into it. I really appreciate your support, my friend. Thank you for encouraging me, John.
