Wide Open Poems | Examples

with arms wide open

imagine
if I was harmless
from the hurt
that lives
deep down
but shallow
in my stomach
that is to big
for my bones to carry

imagine if I was
littler
than the girl
who told me that
she would rather die
than live in my arms
once more

mysterious I am
with my black cloak
leaving my
home
that I long
to be free from
but not redeeming
enough
to pick up my stuff and leave
to cherish you
once more
before you leave me

with wide open arms
I am now carrying
the weight of the moon
in my weak
arms
because I am long
to be free from you
throwing books
at me
when dinner displeases you

and how come
I cant shake hands
with my past
or give greetings to my future
because you're too bitter
for a fortune of gold
and that is never enough
for someone as sophisticated as you

imagine I left tonight
from this ruin you made
for me to sleep in
you would quiver at my name
I would hurt you
like you hurt me

(Please Note: this poem is generalised and not about at any particular individual)

It is so interesting how differently humans perceive each other
Our perceptions are often at complete opposite ends
I see someone to avoid and stay well away from
You see a potential friend

You see a good, kind and caring person
I see a performance to persuade
You see decent human qualities
I see an empty charade

You see honesty and truth
I see a deliberate ,deceptive twist
You see an admirable human
I see a narcissist

It is so interesting how differently humans perceive each other!

Wide Open Skies

(Entered for Contest: Memories Lost Within A Frozen Mist. Sponsor: Sara Jama.
Deadline 8th April 2025)

Do you remember, those wide open skies?
when we were younger, with wide open eyes
the world was our view, from the Empire State
or walking that walk, on the Golden Gate
days when tomorrows, were never ending
long before sorrow, had started trending
maybe I will see, those clear skies again
but who can say where? and who can say when?
wild oceans begin, to keep us apart
but I'll keep faith in, a wide open heart.

Hours drift by
Yet here l still lie
Eyes and mind wide open

Desperate for sleep
Counting Little Bo-Peeps sheep
Eyes and mind wide open

Frustrated and forlorn
For now it is dawn
Eyes and mind wide open

Soon it is time to rise
I will be the walking dead in disguise
Eyes and mind unopened!

Heavenly Gates Wide Open

With heavenly gates wide open, earth unsealed
As walls come down, obstacles vanish from our field
New impressions arise within our mind
Unblocking our thinking, freshly aligned
Our thoughts take new wing
For strength to flow, joy to spring.
Royalty adorn upon our gown draped
Overcome the invincible, for evil is already defeated
Move back to move ahead with heaven’s might
Advance and ascend with heaven’s insight
Occupy the realms of honour and success,
For our Source, the Anchor, we profess
The Dreamweaver, World Shaker, true
To His Word, will guide us to our breakthrough!

The Palace Door Swings Wide Open

The palace door swings wide open with delight
In the yearly cyclic calendar, behold the sight,
A new move of the Spirit, awakening this hour,
Where whispers of hope blossom with every prayer.

From depths unseen, a springing well begins,
The waters are being stirred by angelic hosts,
Heaven dances in the streets, the story unfold,
Healing pouring forth, as a pipeline to the world.

Boundaries extend, as staircases into the sky,
Health and wealth in your land, never to deny,
Miracles cascade, like stars in the night,
A symphony of wonders, to dazzle your sight.

The future whispers secrets, the Spirit reveals,
Listen carefully, as it gently appeals,
A kingly anointing bestowed upon your frame,
From ordinary to embrace extraordinary name.

In your mother’s womb, you were fearfully formed,
A born hero, you were lovingly transformed,
A rain maker, gracious to make hearts dance,
A bearer of good fortune, of divine circumstance.

Mighty in spirit, a troop you hold within,
For you are chosen, beloved, forgiven,
Unlock the treasures of this new season,
Embrace the calling, fulfill your reason.

Heavens Open Wide

In realms where heavens open wide,
A dance begins through portal untied,
Let rain cascade from heaven above,
As the earth below bursts into life.

A shifting is happening in life's expanse,
The ground in joy begins to dance,
With every step, new vigor rejuvenates,
Reviving places tread behind.

Embrace the call, restore the heavenly flow,
In new identities we grow,
For we are warriors, strong and true,
With keys to treasures unseen by few.

Unlock supply lines, grain, and oil,
Tap into gifts that never spoil,
Within us wells up the Spirit's flow,
Turn on the key, let your tongue know.

Build up your spirit, swift and free,
Leap into new horizons, see,
For God is moving, glory near,
His wonders we'll behold, make sure.

Eyes Wide Open

I lay in bed, eyes wide open,
Counting sheep, but they have all spoken,
My mind races, thoughts galore,
But sleep, oh sleep, it's such a chore.

The clock ticks on, the night grows old,
My body tired, but my mind so bold,
I toss and turn, I try to rest,
But insomnia has passed its test.

The moonlight shines through the windowpane,
As I lay here with my thoughts in vain,
The world is quiet, but my mind so loud,
I wish for sleep, to join the crowd.

But alas, it's just not meant to be,
Insomnia has taken hold of me,
And so I'll lay here, eyes open wide,
Until the morning sun does rise.

Eye's Wide Open

With eye's wide open, we're able to see,
head up, chin up, smiling we should be.
Aware of our surroundings all the time,
we listen to our heart's, rhythm and rhyme.
Living, loving, learning each day we live,
as comfort to a broken heart, we give.

Premium MemberSplit Wide Open

Even heart of a hard rock is revealed when split,
Secrets are hidden midst atom-fibers well-knit;
Thinnest of hair should be split open for research,
Wisdom is hidden even within nooks of birch...

Hard terrain under earth-surface has precious gold
Minerals many the womb of earth does unfold;
Digging the mind deep does bring forth numerous thoughts,
The depth of heart has innumerable love spots...

The world is a treasure; though its surface seems blank,
Vast are the marvels whose author we need to thank;
Impossibilities give way when split open;
Volumes of truths revealed when silence is broken...

Suspicions never more hidden; innocence proved;
Hidden thoughts and feelings, like pristine sky, well smoothed;
Life, like an encyclopedia, truths reveal,
Each moment and movement brings perpetual zeal...!

I split wide open my heart to you Lord
Fill my emptiness to recharge my soul
I remain docile to your faithful words
I’m here, ready to respond to your call.

I split wide open my mind dear Jesus
Set my day's plans for your glory above
Dwell in my thoughts, guard it from futile fuss
That I’ll think and act in your will and love.

I split wide open my life to you God
Be my all to all, my companion… guide
Sanctify me by your merciful blood
Make me worthy to be called as God’s child.

Please split wide open Thy Heavenly Grace
Make me whole again in your sweet embrace.

Premium MemberSplit Wide Open

She watches as the familiar female face falls from his wallet
An infidelity exposed
The truth of betrayal unfolds

In fevered disbelief she sat motionless through the night
Slowly her eyes refocus... he still lay upon their bed

Grabbing the scrubs she'd just bought for work
She kisses his forehead, sets the broken, bloodied knife in the sink
And locks the door behind her
