Turned Out Trimeric

I started flirting with fire,
so intoxicated by incense.
This heart’s hell on wheels, 
these shoes demand I dance. 

So intoxicated by incense,
breath snuffed and passed.
Eradicated with your graze.

The Summer I Turned Dumb

I hear there's a television show - 
"The Summer I Turned Pretty", and so,
I propose this little plum,
"The Summer I Turned Dumb".

A better half when turned bitter

For long who’d been my better half
Has now become my bitter half--
Bitter, my autumns sing
Of fantasies of spring…
To bull has blown a benign calf
Who feels (or feigns) she’s tired 
Ever since I retired,
To smirk has turned a vibrant laugh.

My Shyness Turned into social anxiety

Be quiet so you won’t be heard anymore. You might have heard this phrase growing up. Why do people think it’s their job to silence others and stop them from speaking freely?

Every spoken word should be heard, like a loud ringtone from a cell phone that signals someone is calling. Everyone deserves to be heard.

We love to listen to the music of the mountains from our cabin…
The wind whistling through the trees…
The buzzing of the hummingbird wings…the birds’ songs floating on the breeze.

So when we took a picnic to our favorite spot on the Parkway 
(where we’ve been picnicking for 37 years)

The salty wind tans my face, smile
for miles of shoreline. My feet ecstatic

Heartbreak is rising heat in spring.
Summer welded my heart back together, 
Fall leaves reminded me that time has passed so effortlessly.
You’re turning into a faded memory and just another lesson.
My weight, smile, and spirit is back into place.

Autumn gold turned grey,
We all do, including you,
Soul lights fade away....

Tears Turned to Fear

“The darkened sky stole my tears” and left me
to face the threat of cancer with deep doubts.
Fear overwhelmed me, my tears absentee,
dreading the shadows of my whereabouts.

Not hiding my bald head maybe was dumb;
my plague, the curse of  chemo,  I abhorred.
Then I read the beginning of wisdom

What a sudden goodbye can do
for a dedicated woman who put 
her trust in a guy with no insight. 

What really made you fall for him?
Was it his charming smile or blind sight
that shines light, then turns grim?

What's man that heaven turned to hell
in Eden's garden? It's a tale,
as old as time before the flood,
before Cain spilled Abel's blood.

Subtler than murder, the neighbor 
grows rich against the miserably poor;
with might, the sword then scorns the right, 
and we're caged away from the light.

If light is hid, where goes compassion?
If mercy's outmoded old-fashion,

Do I call it an unhealthy obsession?
The insanity of my restless mind? 
A picture-perfect story, unsuited for the frame 

But would it be too much to ask for?
To record every laugh of yours
To capture every fleeing second of your frame
To hear your voice on an endless loop,
To love you a little more and then again
