watercolor morning

it was a watercolor morning
the sky tangerine, punched with boysenberry
and yet you wept
your tears delicious were it not for unbearable pain

i look back now at countless years
wondering ten thousand times over
if perhaps storm clouds had cast shadows
where rain refused to fall

then perhaps i would still reach out
and feel your hand, warm and inviting
rather than

You, the watercolor of my dreams and codex of mystery

You, the watercolor of my dreams and codex of mystery,
You draw the cosmic shiver towards me, disturbing my peace;
You offer a dance of stellar swarms hidden in earthly forms,
You possess sublime gifts, courage, weaving genealogies of noble thoughts.
And as your hair gently falls, illuminating the city,
Like night flickering innocently and gracefully over day,
Soft, a river

Watercolor Nightmare

Pardon for fingers
Body painting my fixed face—
Marking up a scene
Of raw phantasms that look
Like they're falling for my tears.

this body lies somewhere
tangled in the reeds that weave for us, splendid fascinations
I'll show you my sunwashed sky, if you promise to chase away the rain
I'll lead you to rest in the cool grasses of my rivers edge
And bury your aching bones beneath my warm sands

Watercolor Cat, Watercolor Cat,
You are the most wonderful Watercolor Cat I have ever could dream about,
And I wonder, my friend Watercolor Cat, and admire you perplexed and mesmerized,
Tell me, how you know and how you do that you stand up straight and mastered this dignifying posture,
Like a masterpiece,
And these yellow eyes, like sunflowers, while sitting

Color the wind a swirling blue
‘Gainst a splash of crimson sky.
Paint the marshes a dozen greens
With egrets white flying by.

Wash the sand with a golden glow,
Make jetty rocks glistening black
Show beach umbrellas in rainbow hues,
Where white-capped waves roll back.

Paint me an evening strolling here
The heat of the day gone by.
Color the smell of the salty

Listen with your eyes
Squabbling hens fluffing up their feathers
A fox sneaks up on the fence line - wise
The tractor beams on the side - weathered
Crows caw as they fly through the branches

The grass crunches under the farmers feet

He plans to fire off a shot - the sheep bleat

I held the paint brush trembling for I had never,
painted anything in my entire life but had wanted to;
