I spent my whole life building.
I saw it all, yeah ups and downs.
Started from nothing, God knows I did it all,
and brought this empire from the ground.
For generations I have toiled to build,
each passing year my empire’s grown.
I barely slept, I had to see it done,
and claim this empire as my own.
And I was proud to stand and see it all,
it was a brilliant sight to see.
But time is cruel, I guess I’ve lived too long,
and now it’s all the same to me.
For as I’ve aged, somehow it slips away,
and pride has turned to empty hurt.
Like Johnny Cash, I’m left to sing the song -
that my empire is only dirt.

The weather vane turns
Alerting us to the fate
That nature does hold.

Saw Weather Vane
Inside is where I decided to remain;
Looked out and saw weather vane;
Beautiful butterflies,
Before my eyes;
On page in book picture of a crane.

I would rather have someone write
a poem for me that just make a comment.
That is more meaningful to me.

I asked the spring its name
It answered only to the
Weather vane
Their secret conversation
Carried on the wind, while
Fading stars, in dawns
Volcano sky, wondered
Deep why weather cocks
Can’t fly?

VIEWING VALLEYS IN VANE
If you’re seeking or searching for me
Simply view every vehement valley
I traveled from the prairie to get right here
Only to find this is a valley of fear
It ain’t the venomous snakes that frighten me
Ain’t the heat nor a searing sun I see
It’s more than that, and a whole lot more
When rocks are your pillow and stones are your floor
I was feeling so bad I had to move on one day
Any physician would have told me to get away
So I packed just enough from the pantry to stay alive
But right now I ain’t sure if I care to survive
So if you’re looking in frustration for me
Just look at any map and every vile valley
Because I don’t care for the world even a little bit
So I’m staying right here away from all the shuffling and ****
