Premium Member three bachelors on the alzheimers unit

three well-fed bachelors in the home had women fighting over them
I am kind of sweet on Clementine, said the eldest elderly, Jim.
She’s got a crush on Hank, replied the trouble maker Leland Joe.
Clementine came over to them and gave Leland a cookie on the go.

Seems to me she likes you too, Jim said, staring at Leland now.
Maybe because I keep on hand her favorite milk, from my milking cow.
You still have a farm? This surprised the other bachelors quite a bit.
Hank kept his thoughts to himself, but he did not like thinking of it.

Hank did not have to worry long, for Gladys came by next.
She handed him an apple coffee cake that had tasty icing specs
Come join me for some breakfast she offered, and all three men complied.
They had been wooed and pursued by women since being locked up inside

Get Well Card from a Writers’ Group to a Friend in a Physical Rehab Unit

What is important is what we lay on the table.
Poems and stories we write find new life
on the third floor of the library in Muscatine.
We read our works, listen and make suggestions.
We argue and laugh, but we’re just trying to help
every writer make their work better.

    each night

We are working or retired, poets and novelists
sharing our lives and points of view. We have
driven highways and city streets to be there.
Every third Tuesday of the month we sit at the table.

    in quiet skies

You are the eldest, many books written
and every meeting we look to you.
We look for revelations and for how
the pieces speak to us. Works shared
bring us together.

    a shining star

*Braided Haibun Form

gladly taking the available corner unit

a stain in the drain
will always remain
forever in pain,
so i refrain
from going into a different lane

i stay to myself
by choosing to dwell so well in a corner shelf
bringing forth to me personal wealth
in the form of So Much Better Health

for nowadays, all it seems to take is a slight thump
for someone to snap, go in a rage, and try to break my crown, and try to rearrange my face and kick my rump
when the tide turns and accountability becomes very real said someone goes on a spiel and for some odd reason starts blaming trump
i guess that is why elton called it the blues and i found out that i wore those shoes and as a result i consider myself Over The Hump

Premium Member Skilled Care Unit

A Skilled Care Unit

Faces racked with pain,
no medicine can cure.
Sad and alone, no one
comes to visit.
Bedridden, confined to
wheelchairs, nowhere to go.
Pacing the halls, doors locked,
prisoners at the end of life.
Memories of laughter, family
outings, salt, sea air, cookouts.
All slowly fading now, freedom
lost to old age and infirmities.
Life condensed to a single room
with death the only escape.

The Simple Unit of Electric Currents

The Simple Unit of Electric Currents

The simple unit of
electric currents gets made fun of,
excluded, for not
explaining what he means in
more detail.

Trials and Tribulations

Despite trials, and we’ve had many,
with tribulations, felt lost at sea,
we get up each day
with an effort to say,
for our freedoms we’ll fight, to be free.

My Teenage Years - Mental Health Hosptial

Teenage years are meant to be filled with great stories to tell,
but these are the years I fell mentally unwell.

My teenage years were spent in a never ending loop between hospital and home,
leaving me feeling incredibly alone.

Getting admitted into a psychiatric hospital,
where I stayed for two years,
away from home,
with a dozen other teenagers,
we all felt incredibly alone.

Whilst you was getting ready for school : I was getting ready for morning meeting,
Told to put up our hands to ask if we could go for a walk within grounds.

Whilst you was getting drunk,
we was getting medicated.

Whilst you was out,
making happy memories,
we were begging for life's necessities.

Wherever I went, they had to be aware,
in case I was to run away from there.

I see people my age and it's like we are reading the same book,
yet on a completely different page.

Whilst you was in your nice warm bed,
I was being neglected,
Unchecked,
Nearly dead.

Burn Unit

Welcome to 5th floor burn unit,
UCSD Medical Center.
This is the sign you pass,
As you enter.

   They ask what happened,
How did you get burned?
   They do this all with
Care and concern.

   On a scale of 1 to 10,
What's your level of pain?
   Your cussing, swearing,
You cry and complain.

They take me to a place,
They call wound care.
   Nothing here is familiar,
You're not aware.

Wound care is a special place,
Full of pain and narcotics.
   Stool softeners, I.V.'s with
Liquid antibiotics.

   They scrub the burns with
Soap and water.
   It's like leading the lamb
To the slaughter.

   The cries and screams,
You can hear down the halls.
   They bounce and echo
Off the walls.

You come to a place of awe,
For the angels that work in this place.
   The scrubbing of the burns,
You learn to embrace.

This is where you find out,
You have nerves of steel.
There is a method to the magic,
In this place to heal.

Trauma Unit

Mental Health Trauma Unit :
There is a tree of life upon the wall..
Some times bare when Autumn falls ..
I took to creating a scene, of apples butterfly's birds and singing ..Some friends were delighted and a new girl came on the block , she wondered like a beautiful colourful fairy, I'm in love with the world, her eyes shone like moons ..
They took her off for a while to her safe and special room ..
We heard a scream and scrambling
My friend came running out took her slipper to the tree even the snowdrops she destroyed with ferocity ...
I sat and angered for a while and felt my own pain selfishly for a moment it was her that I blamed...
We sat for many days making beaded bracelets , it was good to see A Woman
A Genuine
Lady , kind and caring , a beautiful family ..
I hope the new skill ,the one that I taught, you'll be wearing one of her bracelets with a kind and positive thought x

Covid Unit

Coming home again and down I go
The long basement stairs
I always feel alone

Knowing there's no One who even knows
How much I tried, before they died, to care or show

When will this nightmare end...
Every winter, here it comes again....
Strangers laughing to themselves and then...
 I want to hide.

Started with such pride
To give back to those I loved
Now I'm ready to give up

It's not like me
But this enemy
Does not fight fair
The rooms are bare
Where my heart once bloomed
And I learned anew
With all my friends
Now it's pretend

Together We Are Unique

TOGETHER WE ARE UNIQUE
By Erastus "Popyeny" Shipuleni

It is not about me and you, never been.
It is about us, together as one,
That together we are unique
Yet together we are un separable

It is not about you neither me,
It about the unit and bold bond
Together we are strength
Share ideas to fight this pandemic

Let us unite during this difficult moment
Let's work together for the better tomorrow,
Combine our different ideas, merge as one
We are one from creation anyway
Why splitting ourselves?

Is this an opportunity to appreciate each other,
or a chance to know each other?
Although born as unique, still support each other
Practising humanity.

Hence, Be alert, Be connected.
Adhere to set regulations
Practice safety first
Be safe, stay at home

It take more than one thing to make a single thing,
So how we're in love and everybody have own thing,
We know silva, gold or diamond it made ring,
As body heart and soul make  been,
It take nothing to do some things to get something
Do it is thinking while you acting ?
