Not nearly long enough, a king’s words
what to expect from a tyrant's paradox absurd
She holds the cobalt blue bowl to her lips
making sure not a drop is lost as consumed
a grape tint gauze tied gently around her hips
it tells of an impregnated womb
a farewell toast to the warriors aboard ships
or a drink of what they’ll lack, that and more
of the destiny a young husband has in store
departing are ships, she ponders them upon the sea
the open book in front of her kept unread
behind her, replacement ships underway, as relief
what has been too long, for any sailor this dread
out at sea in despair of the unknowing, the grief
Of sailors jumping overboard, an S O S ignored
what any wife can’t bear, their king has no empathy
furious are the wives of the lies told
a sword has stricken through the hearts of gold
replacement ships finally, underway to relieve
what has been too long for any sailor out at sea
Within our warm homes, we humans continued to croak,
cursing the chill and calculations of snow.
Outside, imbedded in terra firma, the groundfolk,
like crocus awaited in their underground chateau.
They coped without complaint, chancing to poke
their heads out, earlier than we imagine or know.
We humans envy their energy, expecting the best
as winter dies out. Spring buds have a heyday
signalled by wavering winds warmed in the west.
Why not spring forth cleaning, throwing winter away -
closets, carpets, kitchen cabinets addressed, un-messed?
Flowers flourish as they foresee the coming of May
I fear the day our words cease to say
How much I need your love in every way
As our love is tested in such a mind-altering play
You know I pray in every way for God to take us away
Just like we planned it from the very first day
We knew our love was here to stay
Everything has been on display in such a bad way
Oh God, why are we living in such disarray?
Isn't our love powerful enough to sway
What holds us up and keeps getting in our way
So again I pray in every way
For God to take us away
To our love that is here to stay
I ask in your son's name
Oh please God from up above
Won't you show us the love
That came straight from you?
When you revealed
What a blessing had come our way
Because we trust you on all our pathways
From the love you bestowed upon us
From our first day
We planned our getaway
So as we approach another day
It's with that same love we pray
To you from our first day
Oh, how I pray this to send your way
Because of the love that's underway
It's as beautiful as a ballet
That you want to replay
In every way day after day
So very true according to what
We learned from you
Our God we love in every way
The future never comes
The past is never done
The junction is where webs are spun
Then duly sewed undone
The frequency, where the free can see
Doesn't arise from your eyes
Nor vibrates down the road
Or learned in code
Or spoke nor spake
Nor eroded, loaded, coated or devoted
In the wireless web
Draping over each atom's head
Where nothing's said or dead
Lies the wheel
Spinning out secrets concealed
Where nothing is revealed
I don't know how it all started
Or how it ends
I'm older now
Then I will be then
When the web unwinds
And the weaver resigns
The train of time
Plugs along in our minds
As if it never happened
To some it will madden
To some it will gladden
The fabric is untouched
A glossy thought
A hollow crutch
The strangler of our steps
An overseeing clutch
Forever underway
Haze gray underway
to all the sailors at sea
may the seas sail well
To those who have experienced the first time underway
All preparations made, standing in white
Waves and silent kisses from those who stay
Take in all lines! Whistle’s moan, tug lines bite
A slight movement, at last I’m underway!
Signal flags flutter, channel buoys made
Course set for the open deep blue, watch set
Strike below for chow, movie and the Spades
Watch wake at night’s mid, stars through Big Eyes met
Never before have I gazed such wonder
Unsteady gait acquires legs of the sea
Phosphorous fan parts the night fore yonder
The isle’s tiny lights shine like sparkling trees
My first experience with mother ship
A late night date and she picks up the tip
