Krutsingers just make me laugh, regardless of how silly
Absurdities ‘bout false eyelashes, really?
And yet my twinkled eyes are proof they work,
So who the heck am I to be a hoity toity jerk?

The sun was so friendly, he shot out a ray,
but when nighttime approached, he could no longer stay.
The sun hit the ocean, and the moon hit the sky
as the stars twinkled Helios a bashful goodbye.
But ol' Sol will be back, so you needn't weep -
he'll return in the morning when stars go to sleep.

As the stars twinkled gaily in the sky,
they could only laugh -
They watched the moon through all its phases,
crescent, quarter, gibbous, full, and half.
But as she cycled through her lunar changes,
grieving for all love untrue,
the stars sadly noticed that
the moon was always blue.
So, they charmed a gentle nightingale,
"Please sing your pretty tune",
and "the stars beckoned her song
to reach the crescent moon."

We
could have
danced all night,
around the calm
pond where cold dark waves
seem to send electric
notes that echoed all around
in the garden with melodies
soft that sent throbs in our lonely hearts
as we twirled and twirled, thinking of our love.
From high above, luminous stars twinkled,
on delicate, sensuous flowers,
exuding faintly the sweet scent,
urging us to speed our dance,
to the tune of soft breeze,
much to our delight
as we cling more,
two lips meet,
it is
Bliss.
Even the moon
held its breath still
a hush in the trees,
leaves trembling in silence,
only to sway gently with us.
Time forgot its ticking pace,
pausing at the edge of night,
where all that mattered was your touch,
and the warmth that bloomed between us
endless as dreams spun in velvet skies.

In azure depths, her eyes reside
They gleam like sapphires, or a deep sea tide
They are like a hidden sea,
I get sucked in, but I know I would be free,
Her gaze though piercing, was like a gentle oceans sway,
Whispering the memories of a forgotten summers day
A dark night, those eyes are like a starry sky
Like Medusa, if you look you will surely die
Within those eyes is a world so vast,
In their corners, shadows are cast
In those eyes love takes flight,
Like a kaleidoscope of colors her eyes shine, pure and bright
They captured my heart with their captivating hue,
They created our love story, both old and new
They hold my broken heart, which its deep gaze can mend
It gives me a haven of hope, of our beginning not our end
Those azure eyes, they were like windows into her soul,
They revealed a destiny that we would soon unfold,
Those eyes capered with laughter and twinkled with delight,
They led my lost soul to a path that was right
Her gaze was a lighthouse for a ship in a stormy sea,
Guiding ships to a place where they could be free
In those deep eyes, a feeling of serenity resides
A sanctuary where our love never hides

Like pool hall hustlers, they gathered at night.
Some twinkled dimly, some shone bright.
I could only stand and stare.
I'll make a punk sing "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star",
said a shimmering blowhard way up thar,
only to be outdone by a shooting star,
but the sun wasn't anywhere.
Or, so, to me, it did not seem
until Big Sol shot a beam
that bounced off of the moon above,
then off a blue-green orb's dark sea,
into four open eyes that did not see,
reflecting from me to you, you to me,
as we fell in the hole of love.

On a cliff I stood alone
A night so dark, with no place to call home
The wind it howled, like a mournful sigh
As I gazed out, at the darkened sky
The stars above they twinkled bright
But brought no comfort, to my troubled night
The world below, it seemed so far away
As I stood there, with nothing to say
The cliff’s edge, it beckoned me near
A precipice, where tears and fears appear
I felt so lost, with no direction to take
A night on the cliff, with my heart at sake
The darkness closed, like a shroud around
As I whispered low, a sorrowful sound
The night on the cliff, it took it’s toll
Leaving me shattered, with a heart that’s cold.

Climate change is in your head the camel said
The next day he was buried under a foot of snow
What is this cold white stuff? He asked his brother.
His brother was as clueless as he.
Their mother was long gone, and they rarely saw their dad.
Even if they had, would he have known?
Where had it come from?
Up under the ground? Did it push up around them?
Or had it come from the sky?
They had no clue.
This whiteness was crisp and blinding.
it twinkled like sugar; but tasted rather bland.
I love it, he whispered to his brother.
Not knowing what it was or why it was there.
His brother felt the same way.
The Saraha had never felt more welcoming.

You opened your heart for me
on a Friday evening
after I worked in Green Bay.
My friend who lived near
Milwaukee said you
were the best place
to be in Wisconsin,
the forests
and tourist shops
that lay between
the bay and Lake Michigan.
I glanced to my right and knew
the lake was there
the endless waters and sky
but as I was driving
to Sturgeon Bay
I looked to the clouds
I was calling out to you
to take me on a greater journey
somewhere beyond the stars.
As I turned to go downtown
a bow of a ship appeared
the frame yet to take shape.
I remembered my younger days
spent along the shores
of The Great Lakes.
Patrons at a tourist bar
near the shipyard
as the jukebox played
proclaimed your sons and daughters
built the iron vessels
with their study hands—
it was a way of life to them.
The bartender said
explorers and sailors
died in your waters
as I finished my drink.
Streetlights twinkled
as I said goodnight to you
and my tires sang as I drove.
When I turned off the radio
I heard a whisper
the sound of your voice
calling me back.

On the balcony of a hilltop home near Santa Barbara California, late, on a warm, clear summer night, forty years ago, looking out over the ocean, with good friends, after hours of partying, stars twinkled in the black sky, and lights twinkled on an offshore oil rig rumored to be the inspiration for The Doors song, the Crystal Ship. We all just stared, one of us saying, that's The Crystal Ship.

vast sea and infinite skies

deliriously falling in love
believing in God from above
the miracle of a newborn cry
the blue colour of the sky
hands that are old and wrinkled
the glow of fireflies that twinkled
baked chocolate cookies still warm
the sound of thunderstorm
the magnificent shade from the towering trees
prayers and the peace I feel when on my knees
the unwavering loyalty of man’s best friend
living each day until my life comes to an end

I took one look
and my breath
left my body
you were mesmerizing
in your little black dress
I felt my head actually swoon
when I saw you dancing under the moon.
You didn't see me looking at you
I was relieved of that fact
had you noticed me staring
I wouldn't have known
how to act.
When you twirled
the light caught the blue hem
imagine my surprised that
it twinkled like stars
mirroring your eyes.
No other woman
matched your perfection
your smile, those lips
and that perfect complexion.
The wedding was beautiful
but all that aside
I'll share with you a secret:
you were more radiant
than even the bride.

Old Man Winter grumbled and frowned,
Said, "Spring's taking way too long to come 'round!"
But a robin, so bold, chirped up from a tree,
"Relax, grumpy Gus, change is the key!”
Flowers peeked out, with a shy little smile,
Said, "Winter, don't fret, we'll be here a while!"
The grumpy old man, with a huff and a puff,
Melted away in a sunshiny fluff.
Caterpillars wiggled, "We're tired of this crawl,
Time to transform, and answer the call!"
They spun silken cocoons, hung high in the breeze,
And emerged as butterflies, flitting with ease.
Rivers they rushed, with a gurgling glee,
Carving new paths, to the welcoming sea.
The mountains stood tall, with a wisdom untold,
Whispered, "Change is the story, both young and old.”
The sun dipped low, with a fiery goodbye,
But promised to rise, with a brand new sky.
The stars winked and twinkled, then faded from sight,
Knowing the dawn brings a beautiful light.
Change, it isn't scary, it's nature's delight,
A constant refreshing, both day and night.
So shed what you must let go of the past,
Embrace the new season, that's here to outlast!

A melancholy moon shone upon the earth.
Shadows lingered upon rows of tombstones.
I searched for solace in the vast cemetery
But alas, I found none to heal my wounds.
Days had passed with echoes of grief as I looked on.
Somewhere lay my love long buried, as birds above
Sang their melancholy melodies of death’s sorrow.
I sought amongst the ghastly ghosts of yesterday,
Remnants of the dark death that took so many lives.
Cursed Covid has taken many innumerable lives.
I sat on a tomb, beneath a cross, as tears flowed.
Echoes of our laughter seem to be heard in mockery.
The tall cypresses sent shadows across and I felt cold.
A soft breeze flowed all around and dusk began to fall.
Somewhere a beastly bell sounded its closing time.
Stars twinkled indifferently as a half-moon turned red.
Behind me, my love remained buried and lost.
There was no hope of finding any sort of peace.
I left the dead to mourn the dead and went home.
After all, tomorrow is another day, hopefully better.
