A melancholy moon shone upon the earth. Shadows lingered upon rows of tombstones. I searched for solace in the vast cemetery But alas, I found none to heal my wounds. Days had passed with echoes of grief as I looked on. Somewhere lay my love long buried, as birds above Sang their melancholy melodies of death’s sorrow. I sought amongst the ghastly ghosts of yesterday, Remnants of the dark death that took so many lives. Cursed Covid has taken many innumerable lives. I sat on a tomb, beneath a cross, as tears flowed. Echoes of our laughter seem to be heard in mockery. The tall cypresses sent shadows across and I felt cold. A soft breeze flowed all around and dusk began to fall. Somewhere a beastly bell sounded its closing time. Stars twinkled indifferently as a half-moon turned red. Behind me, my love remained buried and lost. There was no hope of finding any sort of peace. I left the dead to mourn the dead and went home. After all, tomorrow is another day, hopefully better.

Dear Victor, your grief is expressed with evocative and emotive imagery that is rich, deep and vivid in soulful language. Your last line is a ray of light in the dark depths of despair. A sad beauty colored in shades of melancholy. Warmest wishes my friend.. ~Susan

Dear victor, i can feel the grief and emotions flowing through your words woven here in such eloquence. Its never easy losing loved ones, and theres this emptiness when they leave, and sometimes when it is too sudden too. I cant evn imagine the pain that youd have endured. I just lost a 28 year old cousin few days ago. And it was so shocking and painful. But God knows the best, and we pray they find eternal peace. Sending you light always

A hauntingly beautiful tale Victor. I too often find myself seeking solace as I saunter through the cemetery; it is a melancholic meandering, wrought with life’s contemplations. However, it does bring perspective to my often weary eyes. “Let death have the dead and let the living have life.” -Edward

A deeply moving poem dear Victor. I can sense your heartache and frustration. A cemetery is a sad place where we find no solace, especially if someone so close to us lie buried there. I can sense every fleeting thought that must have passed through your mind while being in that graveyard.

Heartache difficult to heal. Scars for life in our heart, my lovely Victor. You wrote a very big profound poem to kneel down and pray for the beloved lost ones. I enjoyed to read a piece written with the humility you always do. Bravo!

My heart aches to read this. I have loved ones who lie sleeping in cemeteries, but then again... they are alive and well in our hearts.

Your stirring poem conveys the despair of grief very well, Victor. Grief can be so difficult. I really liked the story's ending, and I'm glad that he found the inner strength to go on.

Dear Victor, Truly touching! I believe your haunting verses transported me to a somber graveyard. A place where grief lives among the tombstones and melancholy melodies. I loved how your emotive language leaves an indelible mark on the soul. Losing those close to us is so hard. - Blessings, My friend, Daniel

Yes, some people that my husband and I knew died from COVID, most of them very close together. All three of us here in this house got sick with it, but we all survived. We each had different bodily systems effected by it. My husband had lung problems, and my grandson and I had stomach problems. My grandson was only really sick maybe three days, but I was sick a month. All of us have reoccurring symptoms ever since. Sara K

We're are where we should be, the loved ones who are gone we'll find and they'll hold us, the love ones here we'll find and they'll take us. Peace Victor, Aloha, William
