How's your dear old ticker ticking
When's the last time you had it checked
If it's been a while then get right to it
Better safe than sorry by heck
Us old guys need to keep on top of it
Procrastination can be a deadly thing
Knew a man who's now six feet under
Thought life was just one happy fling
We're all here for just a short while
So be happy and smile as you proceed
Make sure you live your life to the fullest
As the years fly by at full speed
How's your dear old ticker ticking
Don't dare say 'I'm feeling pretty well'
You may be feeling fine one day
Then wham... it's the final bell!
Champagne Corks and Ticker Tape
How I hate those online gaming Ad’s,
Promoting responsible gambling and care.
Selling happy networks and a social event,
When really, they’re peddling despair.
Champagne corks and ticker tape,
Fun and laughter with new found friends.
Don’t get caught in this clever machine,
It may well break you in the end.
Yippee, five million in prizes every day,
They can afford it cos they reel in fifteen.
So, please don’t go to the party,
A party on your own, desperate and unseen.
Walking along the way
Enjoying the company every day
Careful to never take for granted
That time is slightly slanted
...to tick
Click, click, was that a hicc UP
Wait, no...what!?!
It can NOT
be true
I never noticed
That time had voted
To bring you new
opportunity
without
me
No one asked me
No one cared to see
If I was done being
If I was done with needing
your presence
the intoxicating joy
of your perfect essence
just.....gone...
It's over......you grew
Time tricked and ticked,
then
clicked you
Out of my nurturing ground
Without so much as a sound
Of warning
How can I rejoice in your growth
When you have built your own boat
With the tools I gave you from my shed
I knew you would leave one day
But never could I have imagined in the way
You left the home where I had provided a nice bed
to be at peace
It's that stupid time ticker
That takes the clicker
And runs you past the place
Where intimacy shares
And LOVE fully cares
In the moment of empty space

Work seven till five - to stay off the street.
When I do overtime - come home dead on my feet.
Seems month after month - can afford less to eat.
When they raise my rent - could be out on the street.
My car’s fairly new; got a decent TV.
My home has a view. The bank owns them, not me.
I went back to school, got another degree.
Still work like a fool - cause of the ‘conomy.
Ain’t yet had a raise - since the day I was hired.
Each check buys me less. Cost-of-living gets higher.
My one biggest fear’s - that I’ll never retire.
I’ll be working somewhere - ‘til my ticker expires.
Ain’t yet had a raise. Come home dead on my feet.
Each check buys me less - Can afford less to eat.
My one biggest fear, since the day I was hired:
I’ll be doin’ overtime - until my ticker expires.

Today’s the Super Bowl Parade
And you cannot escape,
If you’re in the vicinity,
The tons of ticker tape.
The paper floating through the air,
With lots more at the ready,
No longer comes from ticker tape,
Once used for this confetti.
True ticker tape transmitted news
Of stocks on paper strips;
Machines called tickers ran it through,
With information tips.
As far back as the 60’s,
Ticker tape was obsolete.
Without it, though, a true parade
Just wouldn’t be complete.
So offices took paper waste
And, using intuition,
Just shredded it and let it fly
To honor the tradition.
It could be anything at all,
From memos that they issue
To daily printouts, newspapers
And even toilet tissue.
It all gets tattered, chopped and tossed
And flutters to the ground.
To watchers it looks magical,
The greatest show around.
Today’s a day for Giants fans
To hail how their team played.
It’s fitting that they get to watch
A ticker tape parade.
