A wee bit of humor based on this Mark Parisi cartoon.

Chasing me was a cop flashing red and blue lights
I refused the breathalyzer, so he read me my rights
He didn't buy my excuse of having had the zoomies
He said, "In jail, you'll have lots of zoomie roomies."

I told him I'd cooperate and would walk the line
He agreed to that and said I'd just have to pay a fine
for doing seventy-five while driving in a school zone
and if I past the inebriated test he'd throw me a bone

I took his comment to mean he was being sarcastic
but I just smiled at him and said, "Gee. That's fantastic."
I grabbed my beer and took a one last long guzzle.
He called me beligerent and reached for a muzzle.

He said he had no pity for such a disrespectful mutt
I kept laughing and saying, "I'm not being a smart butt."
He called me a low life, punk dog and drove me to jail
Quipped, "Your attitude sucks! You won't get out on bail!"

The Wine Waitron

Hello. Good evening. I greet you with cheer
To the fancy and posh, I'm a Sommelier
To the friendly and warm, call me The Som
And to the simple, less worldly, I'm a wine waitron

My job here at Lanser's? To satisfy your senses
Don't panic or worry, cos it doesn't mean expensive
It's all about ensuring a meal utterly divine
By combining your dish with a most wonderful wine

Miss Lucy, she's named after the endangered Stumpnose
Bursting with flavours of the pamplemousse rose
A few sips of her, right before your first bite
Miss Lucy will gift you one heck of a night

They say it's the lost element when you're making wine
It's precious and free, we call it the Work of Time
Our Bordeaux Blend birthed in 2001
When it passes your lips, the fun's just begun

When I visit your table, resist a sideways look
We're here for a good time, let's play by the book
And if you're prepared to throw me a bone
You may just get poured another Life from Stone

Supernova over Bethlehem,
a heavenly surprise,
What did the magi see,
when they gazed the sky,
Comet with bright tail,
one reasonable assumption,
My least favorite,
a planetary conjunction,

Truth be told,
we’ll probably never know,
I can’t help but ponder,
these cosmic shows,
Bearing in mind,
the significance for some,
Pointed to their savior,
all omnipotent one,

Who am I to deny,
having found so few answers,
Does not mean I’m running
a wheel with hamsters,
Questions, questions, writes
the story to my life,
Wise men l’m behind you,
just a parsec to the right.

Half the Heart

My heart if you were true
You'd have half the heart to see me through
A love unseen by the naked eye
Felt by a Lovers truth and dare
You wouldn't love me black and Blue
Punishing me for what I felt in you
Thoughts in which were not created by self
Like a Dog wishing you'd throw me a bone
Why shall I bare a screaming heart
When you chose me and I not you
Knowing of your own plans
You should have left me alone if you had half the heart
Instead of taking part of my despair
After getting what you wanted
Embodied now as America's most wanted
For committing a crime of intent
To eat my head tainting my heart
In which you had intent to break
Now both having half a heart
For the next worse to declare
If you had half a heart
You'd be able to see me for me
Rather then punishing me and not letting me go
Only after three belly's and many moons cold
Left with children I bare alone

Love Is Really a Monster

Just to make things clear,
we never loved each other.
You hit me, like a fist,
colliding into my veins and
picking up the pace when you
felt my heartbeat quicken.
It was so that you could always outrun me,
catch up and convince me otherwise.
Coercion was always easier than connecting.
I've tried to keep you at a distance,
but every now and then,
you throw me a bone, or two, so,
I've built my own monster of necessity,
a skeleton that only resembles you.

Hungry Man

am all alone
have no home
throw me a bone
hard to stand
put money theses hands
do what you can
am
HUNGRY MAN

World Outside

when i was a young lad growin up on my own
just wanted to escape needed a place to run
did not know where to go but destiny won

now i have grown into the man that you see
waiting for life to throw me a bone
wanting that dream something to call my own
yeah we all kinda want that
picket fence dream of a home tho it all varietys in the mind
they say it all will come just give it time

life liberty happiness seem to be things of the past
if its not some war its the economy again
this place use to be the american dream
now its just broken pieces of what a country use to be

whats of the future no one really knows
shall we rise up and take back our home
will it be blood shed hell like ways of the past
or shall we learn from our fore fathers peaceful visions instead

life liberty happiness seem to be things of the past
if its not some war its the economy again
this place use to be the american dream
now its just broken pieces of what a country use to be

Give the Man Alone a Loan

GIVE THE MAN ALONE A LOAN

in all regards i am in arrears
for all but tears
i all regards i am bankrupt,
incorrigible and completely corrupt

i am incredibly insolvent
as i avoid personal involvement
i am oftentimes a brute
and undeniably destitute

this is the way I've lived for years
in arrears
corruption corrodes my credit and more
and i am patently poor

i have no assets
and place only losing bets
i have no skill
with only time to kill

i never qualify for a loan
and no one will throw me a bone
for me the sky above never clears
since i am in all ways and always in arrears

Portion of the Bone

Trying to find something to think about...
sporting yellow shorts, & an old blue and white Jersey...
on my way to get socks to play soccer today...
...My legs are dry... I can't afford the skin scrubby
I need but I can afford new cleats and socks
giggling, trying not to giggle cause I shouldn't be giggling...
...Smiling, life is harder than I ever thought it could be...
...broke...my sponsor didn't show up, many things actually...
that could justify self-pity for a short time.....its tough when
trying means nothing will get better for a long time....its hard
praying when nothing will get better for a long time...
I know you love me God, but I grow suspicious
...wondering if my God wants to kill me sometimes...
It's that hard....I pray to you not to throw me a bone then...
throw me a portion of the bone... still nothing yet... So,
I'm going to play soccer and wait on Him...

Forbidden Fruit

You could never admit to me that you thought I was attractive

So I held everything in and just waited for things to happen
on their own

And you know what happened while I was waiting
I ended up alone

I want so bad to change the tone of this poem
but how else do you depict losing something
that you never even got to own

I never wanted you to just throw me a bone

Or to lay a kiss on me that I felt down to my soul
because truthfully I wanted more than to feel wanted

By you

a sincerity like mines come once in a blue moon

I wanted us to pull through all the bull

and plant roots

you will always be my forbidden fruit
and I will always crave your juice
