Death of a Romantic

You don’t know any better
when you’re first married at three
in a plastic princess dress
beneath an old oak tree
but then fifteen years later
it all comes crashing down
your mother asks what’s happened
you reply with nothing but a frown
what else is there to say?
a hundredth of your life
swiftly thrown away
on a boy with less love in his heart
than he has hours on GTA?
and every time
we’d be alone
my eyes would water
and I’d turn to stone?
I used to think hell would freeze over
before I’d lose my heart
but in this race of misery
I seem to have a head start
but then You come along
with a soul golden and untouched
and I don’t think I’m lying
when I say I like you very much
but how long will it be
before you, too, grow cold?
I could wait forever
but forever just gets old.

It's You

Never thought I'd be
this happy at the start
It's you who holds
my heart
I never want us to be apart

In Your Genes

A teenager goes to the dance
All swelled up with hopes of a chance
Makes an advance
Gets in her pants
Looks around for a new romance

Premium MemberI Was a Teenage Shakespeare - With Apologies To Michael Landon

I wore my leather jacket for the midnight crawl;
Howled a sonnet at the rising moon.
In a comedy of errors, let the engine stall;
Told my baby she’d be rescued soon.

I’m gonna rock like Romeo; roll your bones.
Gonna rock and roll with literary overtones.

I took an upstage lead with my soliloquy,
Emoting bold intentions, hand in glove,
Seducing her to be, or maybe not to be,
With soft iambic cadences of love.

I’m gonna rock like Hamlet; roll like old King Lear.
Gonna rock you as you like it then I’ll chug a beer.

I went about love’s labors with midsummer’s nerve;
Pledged sweet nothings without much ado.
Traced the upswept contour of her cashmere curve;
Went downstairs to tame her naughty shrew.

I’m gonna rock like Falstaff when the Wolfman howls,
His Elizabethan accent full of shifting vowels.

I’m gonna be the rebel at the high school dance;
Treat the merry wives of Windsor to a group romance.

Teenagers In Love

Young she ...
         young he ... teenagers ...
         little mouths of peripheral blood,
pink cheeks .... sweet perfume ...
Sweet youth .. enchanted songbirds ...
          beautiful specimens in love ....
          As the God disposes ...!

Teenage Romance

Together we frolic throughout the mall
Floating on air when I suddenly fall
I drop to my knee
And look up to see
You unknowingly walk into a wall

Together we laugh because it's well known
Falling in love makes us injury prone
Even though your smile
Makes it all worth while
Maybe next time we'll just stick to the phone

Making Her Feel Like A Teenager Again.
.
It has always been my ernest endeavour
To satisfy a woman make her feel special
And make her feel like a teenager once more
But this time
Make the feelings last forever
.
How sweet and tender
The warm melting sensations
And the nervous fluttering butterfly inside
The idle daydreams in school and college
When youth and time was on our side
.
The little scribbled love notes
Names scrawled on walls within a heart
Diane loves Pete forever
Never to depart.
.
Those budding emerging blossoming
The naive aspirations
And unrealistic inspections
Hormone overload
Secret fantasies and tastes of puppy love
That remain untold
.
That first crush and the first date
You were told you were too young
But your urges couldn’t wait
.
Pop songs at the time had more meaning and feeling
And you’d play the same record
Again and again the broken heart
And painful tears that dell like rain
Summer love lost forever
Never to come around again
As growing pains
.
Infatuation and heady intoxication
True loves poor relation
But nothing beats
Those oh so sweet
Tender passing fumbling valentines.

Sex 101

Sex 101
by Michael R. Burch

That day the late spring heat
steamed through the windows of a Crayola-yellow schoolbus
crawling its way up the backwards slopes
of Nowheresville, North Carolina...

Where we sat exhausted
from the day’s skulldrudgery
and the unexpected waves of muggy,
summer-like humidity...

Giggly first graders sat two abreast
behind senior high students
sprouting their first sparse beards,
their implausible bosoms, their stranger affections...

The most unlikely coupling—

Lambert, 18, the only college prospect
on the varsity basketball team,
the proverbial talldarkhandsome
swashbuckling cocksman, grinning...

Beside him, Wanda, 13,
bespectacled, in her primproper attire
and pigtails, staring up at him,
fawneyed, disbelieving...

And as the bus filled with the improbable musk of her,
as she twitched impaled on his finger
like a dead frog jarred to life by electrodes,
I knew...

that love is a forlorn enterprise,
that I would never understand it.

Premium MemberWe Have a Problem: Nude Selfies Replace Romance

“Send me a pic,” he sent with a smile,
“Share what you’re hiding away.
You’re a beautiful girl, not like the rest,
And you’re never ever even afraid.”

“Hmm, let me think, can I really trust you?”
She replied as quick as she could,
“Sure you can,” he sent, quick as a flash,
“My intentions are all really good.”

So she slipped off her top, behind a locked door,
And numbly stood all alone,
And sent this guy, a photo of her,
Her confused body standing at home,

And this is their life, for new teenage years,
Pleasure removed from the dance,
Intimacy gone, replaced with an image,
Nude selfies replacing romance.

Pursuing Peter Parker

You get my girl senses tingling,
every time I see you spring into action
Teenage super hero lover of mine,
I loved you from the first hanging upside down
from a tree kiss
To our last rollicking, web-slinging good time
Peter Parker,
I’ve been pursuing you,
watching you
do your spider hero thing on web cam
But you know sometimes
it’s so hard to watch
Seeing those super arch-villains
try to clean your clock
Electro,
Doc Oct
Sandman,
Green Goblin
You got so many bad guys that don’t like you,
but you never lost your sense of humor
about it all ... no, not one bit at all
One more thing I gotta say:
it’s sweet sexy how you love to chase
after me, your homegirl MJ

12-14-16 7:20 Pm

at once i thought
i loved another
but then you bought
my heart to smother.
and now i know
i've fallen hard
just like the snow
in my front yard.
you're cute and shy,
and funny and tall.
when you're near by,
i take in all.
but i'm not sure
of how you're feeling,
it's like a blur,
but i'm not healing.
and if you choose
to like me not,
my heart will bruise,
and hurt a lot.
but that's okay,
i'll understand
that i was way
in over my head.
so rest in peace,
i will heal soon.
my heart's a beast
that's not immune.
but now my heart
is used to pain,
heartbreak's not art,
and not a game.

Swirling Black

If you thought
You could find him
In the swirling black
At the end of the night
After he held your hand
And told you to run
You were wrong.
If you thought
You could find him
At the end
Of a lit cigarette
Waiting for your name
To blow up his phone
You were wrong.

He was at the end
Of the swirling black
In the bottom of the green
Glass bottle
It tasted like liquorice
And bitter romance
In the mottled light
Of an early morning sunrise.
He was at the end
Of a lit cigarette
Watching through
Smoke rising in the
Darkness
Gone as quickly
As you could inhale.

Tears Don'T Mean Sad Or Pain

Tears don't mean sad or pain,
Isn't even flow from wounded heart...
Tears are way to express joy and sad...
 Emotion charged when fervently warmed...
In Very sad or Ecstatic joy,
 the persona links with soul,
Feels the touch and melts to drops...
Tear turns on to heal and cool the soul,
Tears show the worth of love and hate...
Tears don't mean sad or pain..

Introvert V Extrovert

Can i drift away in your silhouette?
or just stare consciously at the road ahead
for technique is lucrative in the battle
but whats a battle if you're already dead
listen carefully
I'm planning to subvert the misfit
who is unworthy of the crown
but sovereignty doesn't appeal to me
in all honesty if darkness attacks
all i want is you beside me
the love would be all the protection we need
but when your gone i would be...
waiting for the second coming
and you my goddess
are made in my image in likeness??.
