Pinocchio don’t want
to be no real boy no more
Too many strings attached
He can’t do this or that
Tic Tac Toe
Everybody telling him
what to do, where to go
He can’t go with no flow
No more wild oats to sew.
He’d rather be
that puppet without strings
Drinking with his buddies
Listen to them sing
Liar liar, pants on FIRE!
So what if there’s some burnt wood?
Things they be fun in the hood
Only real boys gotta be good.
Jiminy Cricket
He miss that little fellow
Conduit of conscience caution
Kinda entertaining, sorta?
To bad he wasn’t more mellow
He heard Jiminy fell on soft times,
tripped head first into a bowl of jello
Ironically it was lime green
He got chomped
Curtain call! Jiminy’ final scene.
Pinocchio’s mad
You see
real boys they gotta grow up
Lessons need learning
Fun? Hell no, something will always interrupt
Eyes forward
Become the teachers pet
The best it ain’t happened yet
Some decisions magical boys regret
He learns the lessons
Grows up, shuts up
Becomes the thing he once was
Just another puppet
But this time
somebody else pulls the strings.
Ain’t it amazing the way life flows
Up, down, horizontal, to and fro
The calm, with the rough, heaven and hell
Mostly average, but who can tell
Dreams of happiness, that go astray
Fleeting moments of bliss, perfect days
Desperation, sadness, broken hearts
Wishing that today, never did start
I often wonder what life’s about
Fears, the unknown, our moment of doubt
Creation, purpose, to whom it serves
Born to die, or put here to observe
Lost in a cosmos, mostly dark space
Part of a freak species, human race
Curious beings, drawn towards light
Basic monsters, a damn ugly sight
Misanthrope’s xenophobe’s, good and bad
Altruistic, thoughtful, creepy, mad
Destructive, creative, all at once
Gifted, evil, stupid as a dunce
Pretentious, precocious, teachers pet
Wasteful, niggardly, the private jet
Killing fields, to our gardens of zen
Everybody welcome, just not them
Yes it’s amazing the human spirit
Man’s tailor made, to deliver it

Prompt #8 Existential

She is so ugly she needs a reincarnation
far too fat for a one time zone nation
chuck her an apple it goes into orbit
around her waist where she’s so morbid
Stop complaining I’m having a laugh
I’m not fat shaming I haven’t got wrath
look at her stuck when she’s having a bath
tub’s to small should have done the math
It’s not actually her weight that I do hate
but her personality and fact she’s fake
she’s a teachers pet and the bosses mate
sucking up to more than what’s on a plate
When you help her she forgets it,
Mrs The Point the celestial object
she has poor health and lacks real logic
an enemy an ally and a brown nose profit
Selfishness and circle sides
sphere of influence sprouting lies
doesn’t move with gout on thighs
look at her eating all the pies!!
7:00 AM
my eyes small and tight
a soft shuffle into the bathroom
distorted and jaded,
a half frown on my face
a dog-tired grunt serves as my good morning
8:00 AM
my consciousness brings stress, anxiety
a checklist in my head
I can never seem to check off all the boxes
a smile locks my lips together, I must hide my agitation
8:20 AM
the school bell mutes me
I must concentrate.
No talking, No laughing, No districations
my ring finger purple and bruised,
I always write to hard
teachers pet, try-hard
I must keep the holy 4.0
Lunch
a break
time has never tasted so savory
the strings unwinds, my body loose
my laughter overpowers my strain
until I am muted yet again
I have to get to class
3:30 PM
my golden hour
I am free
my stress and smarts stripped away
I am young
I feel love
my voice raises, my confidence grows
where judgement is prohibited
9:30 PM
my brain starts to settle
check 1, 2, 3
is all my homework done?
Is my alarm set?
and I’m ready to do it all again.
my math teachers fav'rite cat
likes to wear a baseball hat
when the class stares it down
it will hiss with a frown
red sox man are where its at.
He stood at the edge of his lost dreams.
Tears like waterfalls fell in streams.
Looking down into the abyss.
Could his life turn out worse than this?
He had been told that dreams come true.
Sure some did but way too few.
Instead of a cloudy sky he wanted blue.
He wanted seventy and only got two
His crystal palace made of plexiglas
He wanted first place and settled for last
A teachers pet locked inside the class
His life winding down unraveling fast
He throws himself into the abyss
Dreams to nightmares his lover's kiss
He gave up too soon he lost his bliss
Life does not get much worse than this
Life makes no promises we know that's true
Some things are not up to me or you
So take the gifts that come your way
To get your dreams you need to stay
Bookworm, loser, geek and nerd
Words that I have always heard
Young years turning into old
Hurtfulness that leaves me cold
Getting picked on-- always beaten
My happiness was lost and fleeting
Kicked and laughed at
Pushed and shoved
No one cared or showed me love
Never being picked on teams
Crushing all my precious dreams
I heard daily teachers pet
Never letting me forget
I was an outcast from day one
Since my school days have begun
Harassed in every single way
Tears of pain fell every day
Nobody would let me be
They thought this kind of cruelty
Wasn't rude or ignorant
But it was significant
Making me believe this image
Was something that I had to live with
Years have gone and now I'm grown
And I see adults have shown
Traits I thought I would not see
By people who should never be
Just as cruel and mean to me
All because I do not think
Doing drugs and having drinks
Is a way of having fun
So again I'm being shunned
Hoping I could look and find
Someone with morals like me
Who knows what I'm going through
Cause they were living that life too
She was trapped within the walls of expectations
Being who she was thought to be
Daddy's little girl his perfect angel
The teachers pet
Always the good girl
Straight laced
Hair in place
On the fast track to nowhere
Leading the race
Friends looked up to her
Popular with all
Her every move a picture
She looked like a doll
If image is everything
She was living the dream
Yet Inside she just wanted to scream
She ran away to a far off place
Claiming herself within her own space
Exploring beyond the walls
Making mistakes
The new her not fake
Dormant self awake
Vibrant
Free
Solving her own mystery
Understanding her history
Every piece a part of her
Past and present begin to blur
Comfortable now in her own skin
Her mind is free the girl has wings
She looks down from the mountain top
No longer scared
She will not stop
No going back to yesterday
She has found a better way
Dedicated to SKAT
Inspired by her poem "MoUNTAN DRoP"
Wow! I cannot believe everything is gone;
Like innocent preludes of childhood
Nestled in a spirit of leisure,
Or a teachers pet dropping off an apple.
Sometimes I get sick and tired remembering
Them good and bad old times. Those days
Where freedom from responsibility spangled,
Into a clear, deep sea of ignorance.
What diabolical person needs my space?
Confirmational bragging rights
Explains that nobody is really somebody.
But does anybody truly pay attention?
Confusion is going up and down my spine
A dying breed emerges unscathed
I've lost the arks magnificent powers
To reconcile the when and how.
If i wern't me, where would you be?
If I wern't me, would you care who I am?
If i wen't me....
I'd be the girl thats sitting in the corner, reading a book
I'd be the girl who's quiet and reserved
I'd be the girl who's 100% sure
If I wern't me...
I'd be the good student
I'd be the good athlete
I'd be the teachers pet
If I wern't me...
I'd be the smoker
I'd be the druggie
I'd be the skipper
If I wern't me...
I'd be....
someone else...
because I wouldn't be the person I enjoy
and that person is Me!
