Existential

Ain’t it amazing the way life flows
Up, down, horizontal, to and fro
The calm, with the rough, heaven and hell
Mostly average, but who can tell
Dreams of happiness, that go astray
Fleeting moments of bliss, perfect days
Desperation, sadness, broken hearts
Wishing that today, never did start
I often wonder what life’s about
Fears, the unknown, our moment of doubt
Creation, purpose, to whom it serves
Born to die, or put here to observe
Lost in a cosmos, mostly dark space
Part of a freak species, human race
Curious beings, drawn towards light
Basic monsters, a damn ugly sight
Misanthrope’s xenophobe’s, good and bad
Altruistic, thoughtful, creepy, mad
Destructive, creative, all at once
Gifted, evil, stupid as a dunce
Pretentious, precocious, teachers pet
Wasteful, niggardly, the private jet
Killing fields, to our gardens of zen
Everybody welcome, just not them
Yes it’s amazing the human spirit
Man’s tailor made, to deliver it

Heya Pangie, I try my best in these type of existential moments, to be as authentic as I possibly can, and try pen it as I see it, as a species we’re capable of anything, no matter how beautiful or disgusting, we’ve done it all and continue to do so, cheers David

"Killing fields, to gardens of zen Everybody belongs, just not them" chilling. The high tide has its effects, the waves roar and shatters rocks like a ton of bricks. We are deceived but we overcome, until the next realization. Excellent choice, the meaning purpose & value of human existence, David

Heya Anaya, we must keep going we have no choice, come what may, is/was there an ultimate plan, I honestly don’t know, we’re here because we have to be here, and that makes us an existential part of something, the mind boggles, cheers David

You covered our existence well in your verse David, I always compare life to a sea voyage, Stormy waters, a safe harbour. Occasionally we come across those buccaneers that share our waters. Best of luck in the contest. Tom

We really have no choice Tom but to take whatever existence throws at us, for its constantly changing, all other animals would be long extinct, if they carried on like us, yet the human population continually grows, natural selection is meaningless to us now as a species, we’ve transcended it into the intelligence realm methinks, cheers David

Each line is like an ocean wave rushing to shore. Some that slam us with their roar, we create ourselves. Others are formed by some of those evil-spirited creatures of the human race you mentioned. Life hardly ever flows smoothly. Makes us aware that not one of those calm sea days should we ever take for granted.

Absolutely Lin, a take nothing for granted approach here, a philosophical existential look at life, whatever we’re supposed to be, like my last line says, we deliver on it, thank you so much for your wonderful comments, cheers David
