The splatter of sunlight on the azured-wall,
Does in soul- filled ecstasy brighten!

My soul to write in glory, an uplifting creation.
God, may all poets, their summered-words ,enlighten.

Whispers of Autumn

Whispers of Autumn

Autumn wakes to an umber jubilee
In the splendor of scarlet reveries ~
When she shakes free these her golden tresses.

Now Autumn whispers an amber sonnet
In summered fields, for fading bluebonnets ~
Love poems float above forest undress.

Summer's ephemeral breath turns cold
In the oncoming blush of autumn gold ~
Frosty zephyrs pass with a silk caress.

Honeyed harvest of falling crimson leaves
Fill winding paths like golden handkerchiefs ~
Rhythms and rhymes of silver sighs that bless.

Sung sonnet gathers notes from spinning leaves
Portrait of spring in autumnal reprieve.

Summer Timed

Summer deals its first hand
no bluffing behind her eyes
depression heated to irritating comfortless
catching tunes upon the air
that haunt from summered pasts
the clink of ice on crystal
Mowers scream from close by
a yapped chorus bites the air
the haze lifting from cement
for a moment ripples reality
then a falling wind chills
with the burning shadows
of anything stopping the sun's stretch

Seeking Elusive Violets

seeking elusive violets
     in shadowy patches
           beneath jacaranda trees
a window of sunlight fell upon you

desiring your favor
     despite rapidly descending sky mists
            our eyes connected momentarily
my caramel riveted to your mountain pine

misted veil dropping quickly
     my carnal plans subverted
   by humidity’s mood

rendering song
       unto that which moves air
                eddies, curls and swirls
soon swept the fog like curtain afar

gathering buttercream yellow anemones
coupled with heather thick ferns and leaves
a bouquet of forest wealth gathered for you
requesting you spend the season’s breath
      with me

we summered and beyond
a petite blushing hand held mine
swimming lost in your windswept sea
                blood in my veins surged
           at a savory full smile
    chest leaping when your lips
            formed the name I carry
meadow green vision sipping of my affections
greedy for every pearl of my wine

The Messenger

I watched the clouds of afternoon
 Gather tempest force;
Now, from a cozy shelter
 View October's raging storm;
Watching through rain washed windows
 Golden oak trees quake
While from their summered branches
 Autumn treasures take.

Drops of glistening rain fall
 From the clouds above
When darkening skies of eventide
 Hurry bust'ling crowds;
Through storm winds call they homeward rush,
 Not hearing autumn sing,
They search the night for quiet havens,
 Shelter from the rain.

Children run along the street
 Among the fallen leaves
Gathering autumn's artistry
 Riding on the breeze;
The wind blows cold, time's messenger,
Of dark days yet to come -
Taking from the land its harvest
Making way for the ice blue sun.

Have published nine chapbooks of my poetry. The Messenger is one of the poems published in a chapbook titled Rhythms and Rhymes - Award Winning Writings.

All of the poems included in Rhythms and Rhymes have won a contest or an award.

My books are available through my website - www.samkservantsheart.com, or through me. That is an amazingly self serving piece of information but I thought I would include it.

Wildflowers

Your words scream out the relative cynicism
Of an age that doesn’t believe
	In anything –
		Not God nor Goodwill
		Nor possibility:
You label me a Pollyanna,
		Mary Sunshine,
		And a fool
For believing –
For grasping onto every positive mystery,
	For staking claim to promises
		Made in an ancient land of promise;
But,
	Remember, my friend,
	When we both awaken
	In the same morning
		Weary of the greyness
			Deep
			Within that place
			Where life breaths life,
I will look up with a wrinkled grin
To laugh out loud
	Embracing life
		In the wind
			Blowing through early summered trees
Keeping watch for the coming of the rain
		Nourishing
Wildflowers of the fields - on mountainsides -
		Blooming in August.

Summer

Summer sun bakes the desert hot rocks near sand
Swimming pool, cool decking, green grass welcomes
Warmest season, diving board jump and splash
Smiles, laughter, enjoyment; now lunchtime chips and dip, with yummy ginger ale hums.

Sky blue, vivid green, sunshine yellow settle on summertime
Fruition, fulfillment, happiness, and beauty smile on
Family harvesting seeds sown in many good ways in summer attire,
Summer heat and summer crops getting ready for Independence Day dawn.

Picnic with spouse on grassy park hill enjoying soda pop
Vacation in June, July, August after summer solstice,
Summery dream a reality feeling cheered and happy
Glad we summered at our beach resort enjoying the sun’s full kiss.

Fourth of July red white and blue fruit parfait pudding dessert
Flavorful picnic enjoyment, Frisbee games frolicking in the park,
Time stands still holding almost timeless feelings and emotions of good happiness
Bang fireworks brighten the evening sky, freedom’s alive varoom in fireworks stark.

Love Summered In Winter

On a chilly night
while humanity snored,
       love stormed
       the world without a whisper.

With soft trumpet sound
Heaven chimed a melody,
       pricking psychic ears.
Three men in the fields nudged

their flock, floated East
led by a winking star…
	to a shack of manger.
	Joy poured from their hearts,

gifts from their bags; heads Salaamed.
The thrilled night stilled
       as the shepherds sailed back
       under smiling stars,

rhyming with Heaven’s
tuneful song of the Lord:
       Unto us a child is born;
Unto us a son is given...

It was on a chilly night
while humanity wintered
        Love summered in a manger,
	flooding the world with light.

Saint of Lust

Saint of Lust

Release these chains of tortured deeds
Along a sculpted veering hedge
Upon this path where darkness feeds
Of jagged cliff so near the edge

For one false move, beware ahead
Beneath the agony now shown
Within these eyes and lips of red
Sit heartless wishes winged and thrown

So find from me a hand so born
You maiden fair this summered breeze
To greet thy heart within this storm
Unshackle those in motioned ease

To lie with me of feathered dreams
And take of this, my soul can bare
Your beauty comes of all it seems
In flesh that I do long to share

For of thy skin my mouth does long
Aroused in pleasured flitting feast
Rose petal soft, magnolia strong
To sooth the yearnings of this beast

O’er endless days to hold you near
Pure love doth conquer moistened loins
Melodic whispers call thy ear
Eternally we shall be joined

For I am called the Saint of Lust
Come taste the flavor’s scented mist
Young soul now lost, misguided trust
As I partake your orphaned kiss

As evening whets this appetite
And shadows stand beyond the crest
My kingdom beckons of thy sight
O’ crowning jewel to quell my quest

A Swans Return

Grace had floated royal
among the sweet summered months,
and not a moment had passed
without the nectar of love;

Three feathered lords so fledgling
white-black,
sleeping white at noon,
'neath arbors brawn....
where the nestles are soft with love,
and dream to host all the world watching;
from horizon's scarlet painting pink
the billowed white hues ---
and black-purple from the Lord's smile

What crimson disguise five plumed hearts
beating as one,
return again o'er Swan Lake,
or with eternal love thy cherubin ponds;
with fountains swooning infinite grace
then they are gone.....
to privy their existence made,
sleeping black at night
('neath the gaze of tomorrow's moon)
the future brim with wind....
elder wings at dawn,
unto valor in evening's song,
fain to life again....
(flight of thy Royal Swan)

swans of Ottawa***

Summered Autumn Winter Bite

Summered Autumn Winter Bite

Abundant harvest

fall growth cycled lay
gather send a wheeler paid
festive heir praise life

Shortening days

kneads winter forward
home stead deli stock stack flue
baked chopped butchered cords

A shivering morning turns to light snow while unseasoned eyes study the hoar frost web of an architect; built during warmer wet days now slowly legging her icy fingers across an exposed neck the capture sweet with summer yield and autumn fill

Summered through blazing sun at its zenith,

                   Canicular days ahead,

On David's Return

The cottage was small and squat
and set in a clearing
high above a summered vale.
The boy returned in dapper clothes
and holocaust mind and asked
to where it was he came.

Young eyes moved
along the winding road below;
his search had taken him
to wizards of resplendent robes
and sordid lies.

Listening to the whispering stillness
of wind kissed trees he sank within
to cleanse away a recent stash
of hand-me-down dreams.

He was a child of God growing weary
looking for the path
to Valhalla.
