Premium Member Garage Sale Thrift Stores and Flea Markets

I had to ground myself from stopping
in front of huge flea market for shopping
garage sales used to take all my cash too
might need this I’d say, lifting up a left shoe
Mate was nowhere in sight, maybe lost in a loo?

Any chance you know what happened to the right?
The vendor laughed, and promptly ducked out of sight
This broken mirror only needs a little bit of glue
Let’s go to some thrift stores, suggested my Uncle Lou.
We don’t need cash after bills are paid, said his wife, Sue.

On The Strip

I have bought in boutiques
on Carnaby street,
stopped in stores galore
on the Champs-Élysées,
shopped 'til I dropped
on Madison Avenue,
and, what's more,
I've been seen to arrive,
fashionably late, on Rodeo Drive,
but one thing I hate,
and doubt I'll see, or there'll ever be,
as there's not much call,
for a linear row of shops downtown,
in a small Möbius strip mall.

Tho' Johann B. Listing (1808 – 1882),
rediscovered the non-orientable surface first,
Mr. August F.Möbius (1790 – 1868)
published his findings earlier and, well-versed,
Euclidean geometry taught he,
while, his wife, Dorothea, danced provocatively,
in pole position, at a nightclub naughty,
and, where out at night, on a fun day trip,
paying punters paid to ogle and view,
the ever-arousing Mrs. Möbius strip.

Shopping in Stores

Sometimes in a store I browse
And other times I buy.
It all depends on what they’ve got
That might just catch my eye.

And even if I fall in love,
An item might not make it
For if I can’t display it,
There’s no reason I should take it.

Today, 3 times that happened -
Two with posters, one sans frame.
I just don’t have the wall space
So I couldn’t stake my claim.

The last, a set of tumblers,
Painted with assorted eyes,
Turned the concept of “eye glasses”
Into such a fun surprise.

Still, I had to stop and ponder
If the joke was worth the price
And I came to the conclusion
That the mem’ry would suffice.

Yet I also made 2 purchases-
Some clothing and a gift
Which, along with pumpkin ice cream,
Gave my day a welcome lift.

The Stores Are Alive

THE STORES ARE ALIVE

(To the tune of “The Hills Are Alive” From The Sound of Music)

The stores are alive with the sound of Muzak;
With carols they play every Christmas time.
The stores fill my ears with the sound of Muzak;
My heart wants to sing every song sublime..

My heart beats with joy at The First Noel
as its harmonies fill the air
My heart wants to sing as we hear sleigh bells ring
and it seems that Santa’s there.
To sing with the choir as it tells
what the Herald Angels say.
The message rings clear, that Christmas is well on its way

I go to the stores when Yuletide approaches.
I know I will hear what I’ve heard before.
My ears will be filled with the sound of Muzak
Ringing through the store

Home, Sweet Home

Some things are painfully memorable,
These are the sweet moments of years gone by,
When we lived without knowing our share,
But you can't buy a ticket there anymore.

I was born under lucky stars
In the house on the corner.
This house is forever filled with dreams
It is like a beacon, cutting through the mist. ..

I remember the street from my childhood,
Where the first friends lived,
Forever there was the summer
And there's something left of me.

My home, my sweet home,
Stores forgotten stories and things,
It's so good and it has a garden in it,
I remember and my heart flutters.

That wonderful sky-colored house
It will remain only in the memory and heart.
Our album doesn't store photos about it,
It was not left in its original place.

I will always remember sweet home,
Where she hid her toys under the bed.
What a pity that we are growing fast,
And childhood is remembered with sadness.

People entering Giant Tiger usually have grey hair
It's something to do with the tattered clothes they wear
Bank accounts are smaller
They have dwindling dollars
A mask solves the problem of being recognized there

Big Mega-Stores and Malls - Small Houses

Big malls and mega-stores, equals small houses,
With Waring spouses,
And children often the losers.

Making cents, not sense,
Politicians talking nonsense,
About skyrocketing rents.

When will the penny drop,
About the way we shop,
So, we can wear collars less hot.

Premium Member Christmas Already

My feet are chilly, a reminder that winter is right around the bend so take care or yourselves.
Christmas thinking already? Yes, because I was in a department store yesterday, and they had already
Thrown out the witches, ghouls, goblins, haunted houses, and replaced them with fat Santa elves.
If you are dazzled by things red and green, and twinkling lights, and Christmas makes you feel heady,
Go out to the stores. Christmas music is already ablaze in some aisles where elves sit on shelves.
Let’s go get some friends and we will go out together. I will pick up Donna, you pick up Eddy.
We will sing Christmas carols at the top of our musical prowess, and pretend my car is a sleigh.
If we get the right friends, and they all agree to join our crusade, we could make this a truly fun day!

Not Sold In Stores

Are you shy around the guys and don’t know what to do?
A rose without a bloom and you haven’t got a clue.
If you spend your nights wondering why you never grew,
just wishing you would die, then our Killer Bra’s© for you!

There’s so many ways to give you any size and pout.
When you’ve got that special date, lift them up. Push ‘em out!
Or you’ve got an interview that need an extra cup.
Just remember guys and gals, the only way is up!

We’re not saying that you’ll sport a pair of 40 D’s,
but our Killer Bra’s© designed just right to tease and please.
It’s made from virgin wool that you simply will adore,
wadding, cords and snap-on lace that’s easy off and more!

Call the number on your screen and give your life some spice!
First two callers get a second bra at half the price.
You won’t find The Killer Bra© on shelves at local stores.
(Not responsible for bruises, cuts, or snap-on sores).

Must be over 21 to call. No guarantee
or money back. Just feel our wool’s caress and you’ll see!
So strap ‘em in, rope ‘em up! Before you leave your home,
don’t forget your Killer Bra© - Don’t let those padders roam!

Nature Stores First

Nature stores first
                                       Mother breast feeds her infants
                                                Sepals save flowers

People Who Live Above Stores

People Who Live Above Stores

                  Morse Avenue,
                  Chicago

It’s two in the morning
and people who live above stores
have sprung from their beds
this hot summer night.
They’re leaning out of their windows
and bellowing into the street

at the baker who launched the alarm
in the Rogers Park Donut Shoppe.
It’s been ringing for hours
and the police haven’t come.
Not even the firemen.
The donuts will never get done

and it appears now that
people who live above stores
will remain in a rage
leaning out of their windows
waving cigarettes like strobes
and bellowing the rest of the night.

Stores

I'm surrounded by stores from inside and out
and frightened by one when all are in doubt.
Depressed by no money seeing items for sale,
while wanting for everything slowly going stale.

Soon I'll be shopping for groceries again
feeling hypocrisy's end,
while spending my budget all at once
and knowing that death comes again.

New given money will blind me
raising my feelings and stall.
Falling will send me out spending
While looking for dreams forsakes all.
