The Thirteen Folds of Old Glory

Each fold recalls our first thirteen territories—
The first for the soldier’s life and those they defend.
The second for their hopes of heavenly glories,
And the third fold for when their life comes to an end.
The fourth fold for man’s weakness and God’s guiding hand,
And the fifth is for the country we pay tribute.
The sixth fold for our pledge in united we stand,
And the seventh for the soldiers we distribute.
The eighth fold tells us freedom comes at an expense,
As the ninth reminds us that women are brave too.
The tenth fold is for the father of our defense,
And the eleventh recalls three Gods from Hebrew.
The twelfth fold represents the Holy Trinity,
And the last for trust in God for eternity.

Premium MemberTime For Reckoning

Where have all our freedoms gone, I asked
As I watched them slowly eroding away,
Once in the warmth of liberty we basked
Probably wishful thinking they would stay
Seems a time for reckoning has come,
Did we abuse what once we prized so dear
God-given rights, marching to a different drum?
Choosing to live our lives in peace, not fear
Where patriotism was our love of country,
Not given to a frightful, credal nationalism
What have we come to in this 21st century?
Influenced as we are by rank sensationalism
Seems we espouse the right to be contrary,
Now even denying the realities of our history.

The War Games

The war games

Yesterday afternoon in Finland, as happy people walked about
content in their world of social welfare and full employment
a train loaded with armoured tanks was seen heading for
the Russian border as spring light danced on the lakes.
What do I know, that might be the military's yearly outing?
As the wolves howl lustily to the stars and the trout wakes
in the streams of spring.
Is it, God forbid, a strategic baiting to divert the Russian army?
From Ukraine. If so, this is a dangerous war game.
Finland has a long border with Russia, 1400 kilometres, therefore
2-to 300 tanks a drop in the forest, but enough to make a point.
I prefer to think it is a manoeuvre performed in days of light.

Disintegration of India

union of India and its states are natural allies
but out of hometowners are uneasy
pitter-patter raining on statue of unity resonates
disintegration, disintegration, disintegration
collectively fight, collectively fall

union of india and its states are natural allies
but out of hometowners are uneasy
pitter-patter raining on statue of unity resonates
no government to fight disintegration
collectively fight, collectively fall

union of india and its states are natural allies
but out of hometowners are uneasy
pitter-patter raining on statue of unity resonates
no sardar patel like leader to fight disintegration
collectively fight, collectively fall

Premium MemberDid We Go Too Far

Did we finally just push things too far
step over a sign warning us "Avert"?
Roads newly cluttered and freshly tarred
with bodies of those our trodding has hurt.

Did we laugh, throwing caution in the air,
watch it bobble, wobble, gracelessly fall
Caps, but no masks, smiling "I don't care,
freedom is ours, we will march to its call!"

Judges, juries, jargon, jousting, and jails:
none up to the task of saving our lives.
Speaking quietly over loud, angry wails,
reason, persistence may help us survive.

Losing Democracy our biggest dread,
it hangs tenuously by a truth's thread.

Premium MemberOld Glory

Do not debauch the banner--red, white, and blue,
By waving it above traitorous insurrectionists’ yell.
Old Glory was “so gallantly streaming” in 1812,
It has stood the tests of time tried and true
From Iwo Jima, the Japanese sulfur island hell,
And the Halls of Montezuma, on history’s shelve.

Proudly, she stands for our American democracy
Her illustrious story is one patriots proudly tell
No one dare defame her if they her history delve
Relinquishing tried and true to lurid conspiracy
The flag must wave proudly in 2022.

Of Wars and Friendship

The bombs explode and the missiles fly past.
Fiery clouds of smoke thicken all around.
Yet with these moments, though they were my last,
I would contemplate something so profound.
With my best friend I set out together
On the belligerent pursuit of peace.
For homeland. For loved ones. For the better.
We dreamed of coming back home in a piece.
Then boom! On the ground the shot leaves my friend.
Faintly, with his last breath, "Goodbye" he said.
Sweat. Blood. Grief. This is how it's gonna end?
Once again, for war, a dear price is paid.
Warriors are supposed to be tough, I know.
But, for my friend, I'll shed a tear or two.

I wrote this poem as a response to the invitation, from a friend of mine, to make something out of a picture of a soldier clutching his dead comrade and weeping bitterly.

Premium MemberA View To Die For

The turret view tells of looming onslaught,
of grievous weapons our enemies brought.
The petrary and ballistae amongst the worst.
May their soldiers and their kings be curst!

We are outnumbered in bodies, not spirit.
Our will is strong, our resolve with merit.
We stand against what the battle may bring.
Together we fight for country and King!

Arm yourselves with long launchers and bows.
Archers to the bailey, ready the throws.
Armor yourselves with gambeson and shield.
Die standing, take no knee, nor otherwise yield!

The battle won, our praises to God we sing.
Today we rebuild for country and King!

Premium MemberConvolution of the Saints

Tie us, twist us with your words
As your feeble hands wring
Paper skin, wealth stirred,
A puppet on a puppet on a string.

Your carapace beneath us shed
So we may yet see
We’d been mislead.
We see without the means to be.

The saints, all regal, dress in white
Their stage muddy, verdant grey
Stands red against the sickly light
Of evening as thoughts and words decay.

The must of darkness will blanket us
By wings of Satan labeled “Just”

This Time

Effigy of hearts burning
Opinion waving waves of banners,
Dire insult collides with crying
A nation on the parade of fires.

This time, the world is a drawing tide
Excuses no longer secure a shoreline.
Protester voices calling from the inside
Thoughts like these taken by the time.

Injustice is more than a crime
In the strongest bonds for those who die.
This time, may their voices shine
Lift their names as gems to grow high.

And bloomed, and witness and breathe
Inside the womb not severed by death.

Why Save India Only

motion of planetary bodies
formed mud earth
and India appeared
why save India only

natural phenomenon bisected continent
part sailed to edge
and India appeared
why save India only

murderers of father of nation celebrated
and Hindu India appeared
why save India only

Germany, Forgiven, Free of History, Welcoming the Unfree

OCTAVE:
LORD, as morn yields to noon (or dawn) my SONnet will please, tease, release:
I greet thee, having access to Your throne by Jesus
And His sacrifice on Calvary: We pray against the Virus
With a sunshiny name, an aura of a name, "a garland" ...
Corona Virus, COVID-19, or SARS-Cov-2, Thy Hand
Is mighty and righteous, always Righteous, even in judgment
God of Grace and Love, forgiveness and Provisioning
Forgive me my greed, envy, jealousy, smallness and scheming

SESTET:
I intercede for others now, nations and peoples, as did Moses & Joshua
All countries that begin with the letter "G" even if I privilege Great Germany
Bless Greenland, with ice in the veins of history, Leif Erikson (Vikings?)
Ghana, named for an Empire of Gold, but "Ghana" itself means "ruler" I think
All "G" countries, so many I cannot list them all, but we do pray for planet (s)
We forgive tourists & others as we're forgiven! CORONA time when unity begins

An Octive Noble

Begets each and every action
Equal and opposite reaction
Of course in divine measure
The revelation of all matter

Let’s patronize all the orphans
Fixation of third law of Newton’s
It is very tangible to navigate
All the needy and destitute

Checking many a portal precious
Full of intrigue and spontaneous
Let’s be kind and patriotic
To uplift nation in a systemic

And ideal manner awesome
Making all the needy winsome..!
