Regally stationed on a branch

His capable vision saw it all

The wide-,eyed gaze of childhood
innocence,lost by adolescence
optimism destroyed,by realities of life;
experience lined in majority's grin
likeness reborn in program's kin.

Brisk,
fast,
alert,
energetic,
strong,

spirited,
expectant,
optimistic,
running,
smooth,
headlong,
into nowhere,
a pillar came,
and he crashed dead,
now and here.
Beholding a stark-naked Kiwi
Prince Charles was bewildered: "What see we?”
His butler replied,

“Your highness, a Maori… wee-wee."
The weird gifts Santa placed beneath my tree
left me wide-eyed... clearly not meant for me

A baby, a child, brings joy to the world
wide-eyed innocence, a propensity for words
Children take it all in, every nuance, nothing blurred
Who dares say they should be seen, never heard
babe pink
soft skin
cute small
talc smell
was born
to warm
they win
your heart
no hair
small cap
pug nose
cute toes
bed stir
small stink
loud cry
warm milk
wide-eyed
play time
Broken Butterfly Wings
Empty playground swings
tear filled, wide-eyed
Infants sigh
a choking stolen
silence fills my being
as my love walks away
from me
I see everything wrong
with the world
once more
Another cup of coffee
to break the cobwebs of dreaming sleep
to greet the rising sun rays of the new day
to break the morning of February midwinter
to wake me wide-eyed and ready
for the tasks of life of ahead.
Moonbeams cast their spell
'Neath their silver sheen
The owl greets daylight's end,
Wide eyed, and unseen.
