Just As
Just as the cool autumn winds
whisks away the heat of summer
The strength and depth of your love
clears away my clouds of despair
and lifts from the dust of death
a desire both lost and forgotten

Wizardry in black dress
whips up cauldron of dread
warts, newts and black potions
whisks wildly on broomstick
with a dark, evil eye
while cackling wickedly
woe to those who listen.

My Heart
My heart skips
A beat when
I see you
My breath shortens
When you say hello
When you look
At me and smile
A feeling of love
Whisks me away
far, far away
Just listening to
The sound of your voice
Gives me goose bumps
All over my body...

Premium Member The Dragonfly
The dragonfly
perches at the apex
of an amethyst foxglove,
tubular blooms
erect as trumpets.
A jeweled angel
pauses on an obelisk,
transparent
but for sun's shimmer
dancing on diaphanous wings,
until a feral gust
whisks it into porcelain air....

Premium Member Third Eye Whisks Me To Cairo
my third eye whisked my soul to Cairo
I had an eagle’s view of the pyramids
tasted grittiness of the sand on my tongue
camel sat and pondered my arrival

old Egypt is mystical and ethereal
sand birds accepted me as one of their own
we flew together over pharaoh’s tombs
I was home! I was home! I was home!...

Again and Again
sea oats sway
sand spills between toes
whisks of palm frons
bend in gentle song
while salamander's
jerky gyrations
entrance

gulls skirt skies above...

against ember hues

I view sun's last dance
along surf's tranquil
burnt horizon

I marvel at
this holy orchestration
reverberating
pervading
elating
my soul
again
and
again...

You and I
A love so splendid and encompassing,
An experience that is to last a lifetime,
A smile that is never to turn upside down,
A heart that is never to be broken,
A tear that is never shed.
An overpowering emotion that whisks me off my feet.

Only some get to experience this outstanding emotion,
Others fear it,
But it is you and I are who are living it....

Dorothy Flies To Oz
Dorothy Flies to Oz

Dorothy runs into the house
Just as the tornado hits hard
It whisks her and Toto
Through the air
To the fabled land of Oz
She crashes into the earth
Killing the wicked witch
She steps outside
Finds herself
In an immense city
Filled with skyscrapers
She wonders where she was
Saying to Toto
I don’t think we are in Kansas...

Wait
The word wait is a weighty one.
Whichever way one wants to wish,
Wait is a whimsical whelp.

A wait for which one waits
works wonders without waning one's weight.
Why? Waiting whisks waiter's whole weight.

Wait for...wait on...wait with...wait by...
"Wait a sec"! What we want waits for no one.
One wonders, "Why"?

Only one word wins......."WOW"...

The Dancing Burglar
When someone steals your heart
     And whisks it right away
You never see it coming,
     It’s just another day

When love is unexpected
   And you’re taken by surprise
Swept up by a dancing burglar
     Your heart willingly complies

It’s when you’re just not looking
That you may find your love
When one charming intruder
     Dances in from up above...

After My Dog
Deserved of a long repose, he sleeps at last
Whilst I, in sorrows wake, through shadows cast,
Recall, this gentle life, the joys, the pain
And go somewhere to be near him again
Along an earth worn, dappled path, that where,
A warm wind whisks his spirit through the air,
Beneath a cloudless, swirling, kite filled sky
Shades of dying Summer, light, the colour of his eyes....

Up and Above
Oh I sit on my moonlit terrace
As the wind whisks with a tender graze,
As the stars burn, oh light-years away
To their silent harmony, I sway.
In the coolness of the night,
In the alluring raven sight,
In my balmy blushing cheek,
I find the peace, I oh so dearly seek!
My soul stretches near and afar;
Thoughts spilling forth from the jar,
Trailing filaments of long entwined
Philosophy of a probing mind....

By the Pond
A pond stretches its loop where ripples
curl between my toes; and a festoon
of red blooms huddle on its bent slope ,
weaving through the rim of Nowra Park.
The nimble tap of spring grazes my face
as I wiggle my palms to relish this morning
draped in pristine streams-- joyously alone--
bearing my pond's first glow before a crowd whisks by.

Mystic Rain
The sky cries..
Shedding sprinkles of mystic rain..
A cascade of beauty upon a deep velvet sky..
I succumb to serenity..
As it whisks me away to stillness..

Oh mystic rain..
You brought forth much peace..
Peaceful interludes of joy soothes my soul..

Oh mystic rain..
Your sprinkles tapping lightly on my window..
The sound of tranquility erupts..
As I prepare myself into a deep blissful slumber..

Oh mystic rain..
Goodnight......

Premium Member Horizon Blaze On Haze
Horizon blaze burns morning haze
as black beyond brings birth of day.
Now yellow glow lights all below,
a glorious sight of glistening gold.
Warm air of morn whisks grey away.
Adrift, some soft white misty strands.
On thermal rise rides more vapour
to cling as cumulus cluster.
Aloft white satin shift is seen
fraying to form a fleecy flock.
Then eye of day in yonder sky
descending deep to dark demise.
Soon black beyond be back again....

Premium Member At Peace
In tranquil waters
On the river of peace
Lethargically drifting
Life's oars at ease
Trials and worries
Are but tiny pebbles
Tossed in to diminish
In receding ripples

On reflective water
The past is resolved
While the breeze of serenity
Whisks in today's calm
The map of life
Tomorrow's downstream
As I drift along
At peace I dream

I love you he said as he lay supine abed.
Through veiled tears masked by a smile,
she glowed comely, masking fear and dread,
kissing weathered cheeks, gently,
her wares availed
and duly spread.
A gift of love to offer only one.

All pangs of fear now fled,
the child bride smiling all the while.
A woman now, resplendent dwells instead.
Taking charge of things anon,
she quickly whisks the room.
Baking yeast bread;
akimbo, she smiles….. “Clan Gunn” !...

Trigonumeracy (Trigonometry)
Trigo
Trigonometry.
Angle repeated to infinity.
Triangulate an epic sine.
I've far too often crossed a line.
A line that lies on the hypotenuse.
And whisks its way into my muse.
That tangent is frequently opposite.
The place where wearily I sit.
And dreams of triangles fill my head.
Yet spherical lobotomies fill me with dread.
I cannot understand these simple theories.
Perhaps because they are portrayed as dreary.

Dark Water
On a cold, dark, blackened night
I walk along the shoreline
The bright moon glows
And shines its light upon the ocean
Illuminating the crystalline waters
It whisks me away to heavenly solitude

As my eyes slowly shut
The lashes calmly lower and click silently against my face
All I see is darkness
I feel a shifting in my kneecaps
And hear a chuckle
I think the ocean is talking to me

And I awaken from my trance
Hoping that I may feel that peace again...
