John Wayne
                                               Was a handsome swain.

Premium Member High Noon In Armadillo Texas
It’s high noon in Armadillo Texas Sheriff cat announced in her way.
Her sidekick, Deputy Mouse Whiskers smiled and decided to stay.
They strapped on cowboy hats, holsters, belt buckles and a gun.
It was 1959, when outlaws were arrested, and TV westerns were fun....

Tombstone
law goes after thugs
my favorite western without John Wayne
Loving Val Kilmer and Kurt Russell
“I’m your huckleberry”
Held breath during shoot out at O.K. Corral
Rooted for Josie and Wyatt to get together in the end
Even though I do not usually root for a homewrecker...

Democrats Watch Westerns, Too
Bonanza on my TV
After that the Rifleman
Democrats watch Westerns, too
I can't write cowboy poetry
since I a not a cowboy
But I have been to Texas
and written for a publication based there
Democrats watch Westerns, too
Jesse James was a fierce outlaw
But I am not cut out to be him
as the song says
But, yes, Democrats watch Westerns, too...

Premium Member My Favourite Cowboys
There was a day on TV
When westerns were all the rage
Together our masked hero the Lone Ranger
with Tonto kept outlaws in their cage

Wagon Train kept rolling along
Seth Adams the leader
Flint McCullough chief scout
old Charlie Wooster was the feeder

My all-time favorite Cowboy
had to be clearly Wagon Train
Flint was my all-time hero
my chief scout taking the strain!...

Winter Western
We are far from the hum, but not far enough—
Worlds not of our making intrude – life is rough.

Winter birds are not wheeling in the steel gray sky—
Seems seasons bring questions, but no good day to die.

Unlike black and white westerns, there’s no good end—
We may beat back bad men but die without a friend.

Oh, we all wish that things did not turn out that way—
But God is not silent and has the final say....

When I was in my teens
Hollywood set the scene;
Powerful producers called the shots
On manufactured landscaped lots,
Adventure,humour excitement
In simple wholsome movie plots-
Hayward and Mature
Wayne & westerns..for sure,
Russell and Marilyn Monroe,
Hope & Cosby.. with miles to go,
Rogers & Astaire,
Hudson & Day with love in the air-
Just to name a few....
Each Saturday standing in a queue..
Awaiting escape ..to somewhere new.

Premium Member Wondering About His Crevices
his face has deep crevices like the grand canyon
I wonder how many ideas dwell in their recesses
blue eyes are alert, I can see his youth in their shine
he turns the second he meets my eyes

perhaps I remind him of a daughter, as he reminds me ot things long gone
of my grandpa, of TV westerns, of what my face will be like someday
his hat is worn, his horse is slow, he hobbles toward the barn
I stay out of his way, wondering about his crevices...

Miserably Wonderful
Good morning time to wake up
You put on clothes then shoes
Smile say hi, laugh some too
Yet still miserably wonderful

Cup of coffee, eat a muffin
Grab your keys, go to work
Do your job, get paid
Yet still miserably wonderful

Get home, cook food
Pj’s on, relax a little too
Westerns on, health is bad
Yet still miserably wonderful

Go to sleep, wake up
Streets of gold, heavenly choir
At peace, no pain
Yet miserably wonderful is now a phrase....

Movies 2 , the Sequel
Back in black.
Don't know jack.
Movies more movies.
Shark attack in 3D.
Back attack, old age.
Over the hill, not.
Lots of snot, zombie rot.
Day of the zombies, zombie on.

Vampire movies in; Aliens too.
Comedies, dramadies and Westerns ,too.
Life is a movie. Make a home movie, bar scene.
Take two, have a whiskey or soda.
Whiskey, soda. Social drinker, casual.
Another sequel, sequence, sequin.
Someone , somewhere.
New and improved, that's the biz.
Sequester. Court jester....
