When I was in my teens Hollywood set the scene; Powerful producers called the shots On manufactured landscaped lots, Adventure, humour excitement In simple wholsome movie plots- Hayward and Mature Wayne & westerns..for sure, Russell and Marilyn Monroe, Hope & Cosby.. with miles to go, Rogers & Astaire, Hudson & Day with love in the air- Just to name a few.... Each Saturday standing in a queue.. Awaiting escape ..to somewhere new. ,

Great Bio, Brian! My parents shared their love of these movies and great Hollywood talents with me. So much different from todays movies. Sometimes it is better to leave more to the imagination. Thank you for your thoughtful comment and for sharing! Love, Robn

I still prefer these oldies on our movie channel!I was allowed to tag along with my brother to all the matinees almost every Saturday afternoon(much to his chagrin!)..where we watched "Samson" pull down the pillars, all the Roads that Hope and Crosby taveled, Monument Valley, where John Wayne rode his horse...Wow those were the best afternoons in the dark!Way back when I joined PS.I wrote one of my first poems "Black & White" about my love for the movies..(not a great poem, but a first effort!)

It is so true that the great ones live on... I love these old movies, which so often tells my age...LOL (especially when my child says "Who is that?") The stories from the movies and the magic of the silver screen truly enchant the soul. Thank you for sharing. Smiles from Lolita

Pure magic it must have been. Absolutely love these greats you named. Wow, have movies changed. I guess along with everything else. A wonderful and nostalgic look back. Love, Shar

I used to sit with my grandmother on the weekends and watch old movies. If it wasn't black and white I wasn't interested. You've named some of my favorites but you gotta have Cary Grant, what a guy.
