A Closed Door

A door unopened
the knock
makes almost
no sound
so subliminal
is
the flimsy veil
of steel
that guards the answer.

Journeys

Transporting
Bewildered

Living in the past
Projecting into the future
Watching old movies scripted and directed by yours truely
Or projecting anew
As the present sits unopened

Open

With arms wide open
and with a mind open wide
I would too open
my body to you; yet you
remain unopened,
thus, for you, nothing more but
my veins are left to open.

Gypsy Dancer

So fragile, I could count the veins
   beneath her pink petaled softness.

In ruffled skirts, like a gypsy she danced,
coaxing her unopened buds to bloom.

Missed You

The mini skirt walked away
The night remained unopened for 50 years
An unexploded grenade
Buried beneath the golden wheat fields of Normandy.

The Unfinished Poem

The Unfinished Poem

An unfinished poem awaits in the darkness of my unopened notepad it's own delivery. Soon to be the child of the author, cared for and pampered; then shared with all.

Unopened

The missive came, posted from my home town. Detached, I laid it aside for awhile. A week passed, I unearthed the envelope. She will arrive on the train today! Mom.

The Fall

The crisp falling:
of thoughts.
November night.

Longing to
feel you on
lips and falling.

Falling of moon
and the bruises:
dew on grass.

a-complaining,
nothing; unopened
eye of a wound.

Last Posting

The envelope
unopened
addressed
to himself
Inside
unspoken
old hopes
and dreams
Lost
and rerouted
the stamp was
foreign
Its port of entry
still
—unforeseen

Residues

yesterday's dreams

love letters
                 bequeathed

widow's weeds
white wedding gown:

voicemail
                 unopened
dear john
        unsent:
conclusions
                  unsaid

The Worst Gift of All

You made me,
Created out of nothing just to
Let me be.

No hopes of seeing the shores,
No boat to stay afloat.
‘Tis a gift best left unopened.

Just by nature, I will breath.
I will cling onto the edge
And ask “Why do I bother?”

The Door

I stare at doors unopened now,
For they were hidden forever
Or so it seemed; It happened then,
I found a key and together
With you, I stepped through this door and
I saw a world so full of hope.

I have not found it since that day.

Perception

My eyes were closed then
On your unopened eyes you felt
Enticed me dreaming of you.

My eyes are open now
In your unclosed eyes I see
Entranced me drowning in you.

Wondering

I'm alone tonight
awake in bed
a book on my lap
unopened
unread

this book is my life written by me though the words ive never seen
this book tells my life from others perspectives
oh how i want to open this book
but i can't
its locked.

her buying obsession

Buying was an obsessive hobby of hers
She was an avid collector of stuff
Her house was filled with unopened boxes
She stacked them to the ceiling and used paths
Most of her new things were never unpacked
Left for distant relatives to discard after her demise

Past Times

We try to relive them, we try to forget them
Past times have shaped today, some we have defied
Some have died in unopened pages, others live on in folklore
They never go away, no matter how fast the future comes along
The past times are not past, they always tag along

SIN-RYU

A sh**load of sparrows
Dancing on the wires
Spots on my truck

A howling of leashes
Domesticated torture
A cat hisses

A cacophony of phrases
A drumming of woodpeckers
Shouting – quiet please

Unopened flowers
A menagerie of metaphor
Optical conclusions

What Is Her Secret

She looked for daffodils
Of course, she found them
Sought out lilies
Found them too

The rest of the world was stuck in grayscale
Feeling dour and disappointed
With unopened concrete minds
Not finding even a tiny violet in a crack

What is her secret? Someone asked.
She believes said another.

Wide Open

Hours drift by
Yet here l still lie
Eyes and mind wide open

Desperate for sleep
Counting Little Bo-Peeps sheep
Eyes and mind wide open

Frustrated and forlorn
For now it is dawn
Eyes and mind wide open

Soon it is time to rise
I will be the walking dead in disguise
Eyes and mind unopened!

She Found Her Mothers Box

the day before her wedding
Pandora found her mother’s loony box
there were journals about her bi-polar condition
and her suicide plans.
We were glad she kept it silently locked
did not read it on that day
or any other day,
preferring to burn it unopened
after she had been married for fifty-six years.

What's It All About?

what is
what was
what will be
what never to see
what never to feel
what never said
what shouldn't have been said
what awaits
what I await
what paths taken
what doors unopened
what halls traveled
what follies experienced
what love lost
what once tasted
what once trusted
never forgotten
but, oh so missed.
