Nothing occurred before
nor after this time
of a streetlamp burning
on avenues untraveled

At the heart of my question
is the thing I die to ask
too much for my tongue
far too often timid

If one minute the world is cruel
only to warrant ennui
the ensuing is absurd
familiar as an old joke

The buzz has left the bee 
The salt has left the sea 
The creak has left my knee 
The shrill has left my plea. 

The smell has left my pee 
The sugars left my tea

My laugh has lost its glee 

It is not right.

The Evil Place I Remember

Evil spit its ugly face into this place.
Lighting was less than tolerable.
A feeling of ominousness paraded into my heart instantly
I don’t like it here, I whispered to my companion.
But she was gone.
Who knows what took her?
I never found out
And this was October 14th, 1975.
I have never returned.

A voice that’s been lost to time,

This all seems so inexorable.

Jimmy was an only child
Henrietta’s only son
She had built him up
Lavished him with praise
Told him how handsome he was
He had always believed it
There was nothing humble about him

He is still fighting self-vanity
But he is almost tolerable now

Stop Thinking

Sure life is a disappointment, but is it menial?
Salvageable? Palpable? Tolerable?
My brain waves are pondering this.
I am not a philosopher or anything,
yet here I am, thinking again.
Stop thinking! Society tells me.

I am making up my mind.
Let me have a minute.

He Aint Prickly Hes My Brother

He ain’t prickly, he’s my brother I said.
Full of quills though, right? Asked my neighbor Fred
Not awful, tolerable actually, cushy even,
This was thrown in by my best friend Steven.

You mean you ride on his back? A little one queried.
Yes I said, and I am not one bit worried.
He is young, so his quills are not intolerable yet.
I am not fearful at all, for these things I don’t fret.

What do you like about him? Her father asked.
He’s got a great smile, she said, sheepishly.
There was a giggle too, a tiny one.

He seems like a knucklehead to me, a dunce.
You have to get to know him, she told him.
I will try, he lied.

He had already seen enough of this guy.

The poet's always little careless
He's not so neat, he isn't shaved,
He's dreaming, he's serene, he's labelless,
He speaks too much, it's not so great.
His soul is frail, it can be wounded,

Blow pain with rhyme, my wanted guest,

I changed myself to make you a better person;
I didn't make sacrifices to step in front of the line...

Chaos and Order- Tormented

My head hurts really bad, it's much turmoil in my mind
I don't know what’s real or fake, I long for peace
Some days I’m really scared like someone is chasing me 
Everything is jumbled and mixed up, I want to be free

 I take what the doctor prescribed and I wait
It takes a while for me to feel somewhat better
When it kicks in my life is tolerable, it has order

Morning Senryus

the first sip of espresso
  jolts awake the taste buds
     then the rest of me follows

book and coffee on the deck
   watching the deer dine
      sunshine makes this day sublime

dressed for success on day off
    bare feet and blue jeans
        relaxation is the goal

my life is nearly perfect
  loneliness sneaks in
      soul mate is still M.I.A.
 
summer sun envelops me
   the breeze in the trees

Sour Screams

In the inmost part of my extrinsic insoluble mind 
There is a berth that you have to leaf thoroughly through to find
A vicinity that's scarred by years of heartless crime
Like a flask with echoes of sour screams, overflowing with cries
Keeps me roused at eventide with a toothless grin
Wondering if I'll be tolerable for once in my continuance and when
Day spring comes and then my dusty attic generates a spin
Arise and get costumed, as it starts all over again
