As the heat subsided
A cool grayness crept in
Exhausted shadows slept
Limp leaves exhaled hope
Open windows inhaled it

Aftermath

The storm subsided among lost cries
Blurred picturesque of ruined brides
I see as I await my muse
In the solemn solitary sunrise.

And today I feel better
The pain in my stomach gone
And the alcohol’s pull
Has subsided
I think its great now
All I need is an AC

Dispassion

A couple living in Ealing
Made love with passion and feeling
But his ardour subsided
When she confided
“It’s time you painted the ceiling”

Premium Member Earthquake

Earthquake in my heart stop rumbling,
The storm has subsided the ebb is low,
Veins flow with fire, unsated no more.
Tremors and aftershocks come and go
I live with love now on another shore.

The Dawning of Another Day

Overwhelmed, as I was
Today has dawned
My pain, has lessened
And the loneliness, subsided

A new time, is here
My loss is in the history books
Now, I must not be daunted
Be brave, against whatever comes

Premium Member Locusts in the Alley

In the old graveled alley, overgrown with weeds, at footfall, locusts sprang and leaped, triggering a riot. But soon their swelling motion subsided like fried popcorn on a skillet.

Premium Member A Pickled Piper

Peter Piper picked a peck
Of pickled peckers...
After the laughter subsided
I was in a peck of trouble,
In a real pickle so to speak.
Thank god he wasn't a woodchuck.
I'd still be saying Hail Mary's.

Waiting For Dawn

In a region divided,
  on a hill far away

A last echo subsided
  quiet ruling the fray

The soldiers asleep,
as fate waits for the dawn

New blood to be spilled,
  ever right—ever wrong

Premium Member The Fifth's Agony

The faux fury has subsided
the acrid smell of pseudo battle
awakens wary sparrows
unsure of the victor
silence does not quell
the hangover
nor daylight erase
the blackout
of whiskey'd warriors
snoring on weeping lawns

Flash Light

Flashes like rainbow sunlight lit Shone her belligerent facade The sheriff headlamps rays Subsided into quest Then at last her secret broke out Like mucus from a stayed baked bread 5/26/2020 HEXASTICH IT Poetry Contest Nette Onclaud

Old Love

The flames of the fire of our love
may have abated and subsided
but its embers still menacingly glow
and from time to time it's re-ignited
searing through us like lava's hot flow
until by joy fulfilled and delighted
it flickers, returning, mellowing slow,
into its normal pedestrian groove.

Personal Last Quote of the Day

"Although prejudice and discrimination has subsided over time and history, it is hidden in every corner of our present; for there is no escape from diversity in America. As hostility and violence is less prevalent some say, to say we live in a society of Pluralism, is to speck prematurely and blindly."

When Rain Subsided

When rain subsided, and the sun came out,
golden rays of light chased away the gloom,
then the world was ready to move about.
When rain subsided, and the sun came out,
fear from within becomes hope from without,
uplifts the sprit, no more sense of doom.
When rain subsided, and the sun came out,
golden rays of light chased away the gloom.

Logic

Whenever you feel life has not gone the way you would like.

What should you do to rectify the path?

Do you work a little harder to forge the way?

Save your troubles to think about another day?

When your head is clear and the weariness subsided?

Heart on cuff - head in gear, logic and clear!

Sleep,

No tear,

No tear,

No tear.

for tomorrow's memory,Arrows have

Stop Sign

Waiting for the traffic to move,
Longest day in the world for me,
Slow motion in progress it just won’t groove,
I’m growing no faster then a tree,
Impatient the moment arises,
Looked both ways and the season subsided,
The occasional mishap just occurred,
Crash in an instant now I’m disturbed,
In this second I look in the past,
I see myself and I didn’t last.

Shades of Heaven

The storm has finally subsided
there's a clearing of the skies
nice time for a rainbow
real good day to smile

Think I'll just sit back and relax
enjoy the shades of heaven up above
let my eyes take in the feast
a view that's filled with love

For the colors seem to brighten my spirit
open up my soul
the worries I had yesterday
I'll toss them at the rainbow

Premium Member Heavenly Tears

Dark clouds gathered in the west
the wind whipped and howled
the sky shed thousands of tears
as hunger crouched on the ground below
crying continued though out the afternoon
as the hungry bowls were fed
moist wet tears slowly subsided
only to come rushing back again
these tears from the heaven
eventually ceased
satisfying the thirst of the land.

Bottomless Pit

The pain subsided
as I lifted the drink
space still resided
deeper I still sink

Need a love to take up space
to fill that empty hole
a need to leave this place
to empty my poor soul

Waiting for some sun
to chase my rain
for that I am not the one
only I am to blame

A long game of chess
my life seems to be
lost all my pieces and caused a mess
as you can definately see

A Bombshell

Lacy black shell
Ever so fine
Asymmetrically designed
For a love of mine.

Fingertips touched
Ever softly.
Asked whom this was for
Tell not my heart.
Her name I cannot reveal.
Eve of the year
Reunites us.

She rejoices now.
Her sadness subsided.
Evicted from her sylph
Enriched her temperament,
Lust love laid-up luxuriously.

Come Disappear

Rush your waves of freedom
pulse slow where alcoves bleed
lay gently in the grass of heaven
amongst the humble and the meek

Faint eyes lie down in blazing heat
where the burning fades desire
unfurled taught ropes entwine
and boil steams still streams

Unguide lost thoughts subsided
roam the hallows of my lair
run past fear of another morrow
into me come disappear

Things To Come

After the raging
   waters
        have subsided
    we are left
with much destruction
        and despair
We seek guidance from
     above
           and we
             hope
            that
     our eyes will be
soothed by a gentle rain
    which is spilling down
     upon the land
                the stars above
are now
      glittering in
anticipation
      of a new - a better day

Toast

I’m not one to boast
But this morning I was able to look up from the abyss
My mind clear and sharp
The wave subsided
The overwhelming rush of love and regret abated.
And for the first time in weeks
I didn’t burn the toast.

Looking ahead toward dinner
I may take some root vegetables,
Parsley , rosemary and olive oil
Preheat the oven to 400
Cut out my tortured heart, add it to the root vegetables
And let them roast.

Is This Love

I lost it one Spring day beneath an old oak tree
I was just sixteen and new to love

He was so insisting I was afraid to lose him
So I agreed to love him for just a little while

I didn’t know that it would hurt so much but
I just laid there with tears inside my heart.

He held me close to him as my pain subsided
He whispered in my ear he would be mine forever

I have not seen him for a month do you know
where he is?
