bubbling trees
sway, sweep, and tilt,
twist, turn, then bow;
spawning boughs tossing
hurricaned dust.

Frozen streams are calm incidents of winter
When lean, broken stems seem dead and gone
But the way things stand now in the nearby minster,
Canticles accompanied by spawning candles are worn.

Spring
Gone is the cold wind.
Now is the time of sunshine.
Bringing singing birds.
As spawning fish run up stream.
Traversing rapids to home.

God set out the way to prove your worth:
"Multiply and replenish the Earth!"
No need to be wed
Just lie in your bed*
Happily spawning birth after birth!
*Reminder: God has an Open-Door policy

there is no rest
in this spawning stream,
life given for life
touches the unformed
visage of dreams.
silver, splintered
separated from its whole,
united, resting,
wrought upon this axis
the spiral staircase of soul.

Teeming pools of spawning thoughts
Irrational coiling tendrils and knots
Restless limbs and rattled brain
Exquisite need for some slight refrain
Deprived of basal corporal need...
...I am so...tired.

The silk fern herringbones the sunlight.
Its prehistoric tendrils fan the morn:
A living fossil to take urgent flight.
It whispers in dark inaudible moan,
Spawning in our rich volcanic earth,
Secrets where our seed was first sown
In fragile perpetuity.

vacant shell yawning
extinguished spirit spawning
a peek at souls
who lived within these walls
days and years of silence
that held in abeyance
the score of awful years
as due care disappears
tended garden dying
dead heads sighing
door finally clicking closed
silent ending unopposed

Galactic Warming
By Desiree Espinoza
Galactic times we live in today
Galactic advances lend itself to practice ways
Galactic issues must among the human race
Are we tactic with these problems we face?
Galactic days are here forever
Lactating and spawning pollution and anticlimactic weather

A Noise
A noise from my childhood, well I don’t know,
a bird, a sparrow, ‘twas so long ago.
A carp when it splashes spawning in the lake.
The roar of a lawnmower, or the swish of a rake.
These are some noises, just a few,
which one shall I write about?
I wish I knew.

Other
The mighty river flows,
He has the power to keep its motion,
a force of impressive water running
through the lower mouths of
deep canyons and along the
ribbon of wending roadways,
a determined waterway,
insisting on carrying its
inhabitants to spawning
pools awaiting life and death,
an irony of God.

Dreams are born in the womb
borne in mind beyond birth.
Infantile fantasies
spur kicks within her,
spawning daydreams
of the birth to be.
Musings of motherhood:
things she would
do; things she must do;
impossible things come true
in dreams.
Then the bubble burst,
reality arrived
delaying those dreams for another day.

As I stand by the river,
Watching brook trout deliver their eggs in a harmonic spawning song…
I can feel the sacred shower from the waterfalls love tower,
Cleansing my being like the white lotus flower…
Suddenly right then the winds begin parading jasmine and suckle…
Remembering you I follow natures tune, rolling in the clover with a chuckle…

To Virginia with Love
Your being first
Became a bitter sweet
Victory
Leaving a shamed keloid
On the face of history; and
Now each day’s a Nebuchadnezzar
Dawning; and in tomorrow’s tomorrow
You will overcome
Spawning peace, love and unity
In the oneness of your diversity.
N.B.: Forgiven but not forgotten,
I’m beginning to love you.

River Life
A river is a living thing that sings to clear blue skies,
while deep within its eddies White Bass, Gar and Blue Gill lie.
One great miracle's the Salmon, who upstream bravely flies.
As strong rapids churn white waters, this spawning fish leaps high,
to strive to do its mating and in three days surely dies.
