A Grouchy Grouch
Once I saw an oddly grouchy grouch,
grousing away on an old couch,
gaping menacingly,
as I eat happily,
my juicy chicken soupy lunch....

I Find Truth In Poetry
I watch the news, barely boomy, always gloomy
I listen to music, fairly moody, always groovy
I read poetry, rarely soupy, always truthful...

Milton Supman “Soupy Sales”
His tongue twister “unique New York” never fails.
The child I was says, “unique you nork, unique you nork.”
My milk spouts out, with a flying cork.

add some oats to the pot
add some water add a lot
boil it boil it until it thins
than add more water
and boil it again
stir it and pour it into a bowl
add a pinch of allspice
eat it hot or cold
soupy and droopy to the touch

Premium Member Cheeses Stunt Double
A sly Sunday smile
Shadows hide between
Words so soupy
Some starving sister surely sips
Yet this brother’s lips
Serves spanks
That can’t plant peace
Jerks that don’t move deep
Inside where soul resides
Pretending to care with flare
So fabulous to view
It’s like a silent movie
As he talks to you
He pretends to be
A big man with cheese
We all know and love him
This mama boy thief
Who could be king
If he’d only be
And stop fronting...

Reminders we are not finite
Lest we should forget
Time tends to stop and hover
Undetectable
In a slow motion whirl
Caught in an endless loop
Like a 45 record that skips
It’s a typical phenomena
In all hospital waiting rooms
A soupy silence so very palpable
Contemplating the meaning of life
And what is left of it
Prisoner caught in a time warp
While life goes on outside this window

The Hermit
a quirky quiver
of awkward spasms
and there I was
whistling my livid protests
at a choir of cloaked shadows
who’d been
so weirdly
keen
on dragging me
out of my soupy sojourn –
a cozy, warm dwelling
fit for a hermit

a mighty ghost grabbed me
slapped me
wrapped me
trapped me
like a POW
in a tiny cell
or was it a cage?

that was a long, long time ago

and now here
i am
a loner still
but
a prisoner of peace
a happy hermit in a happy little hut...

Premium Member A Pie In the Face For Dan
Back in fifth grade, there was this obnoxious guy. I always wanted to hit him in the face with a pie. It often crossed my mind. I wanted to give it a try. What inspired me was the Soupy Sales show. Dan was just asking for it. If I could give it a go. I often dreamed of such vindictive attacks. A pie with the speed of a fastball by Sandy Koufax. I would just take the pie and throw it in his face. That would have been something to put Dan in his place.

Premium Member Cyclonic Storm
Dawn arrived beleaguered
and redrew the peaks
across a bruised sky that churned
a displeased blue and pewter.

Soon lightening, a brilliant white
with titanium opacity,
crackled with scraunches
and screeches across the horizon.

Rain labored brutishly
against the grueling winds
savaging the already sodden,
soppy, soupy earth.

Multi-dimensional, phantasmagoric,
noctidial nightmare till, conterminally,
the broken sky refashioned itself
in vivid electric pink and tangerine....

On the Roof
as brave strong smart
kind long-haired
comfortable unhappy creative
warm encouraging inspiring
memorable

who writes with abandon
lives with abandon
and no plans
late is on time and schedules -- ha!
the nerve of suggesting I'm
the one who is crazy

call me every letter of the alphabet
I'll give you a word for each
one and count the freckles
like stars
on children's faces
and wish each
one were my
child freckle alphabet

soupy sky with clouds and
it's raining hard today....
