Razors

Razors

Shiny silver

on the fence, slashing flesh.

A broken chance to escape is

Cut free.

Fantasy Rescue

Senses surrounded her pulse raced, heart pounded slashing through stands of fescue. She let out a cry, then from on high, her dragonfly came to her rescue.

Clerihew De Kooning

Abstactions* William de Kooning
painting art with a complex zing
Straight slashing brush strokes suggest speed
perhaps because of a limited palette creed

Darkness

Charging into the void,
Eyes flashing, blades slashing.
The shadows reaching out
Their icy tentacles cutting to my core.
Screaming into the night,
I’ll never quit this fight.
I’ll never let the darkness take you.

Piggly Wiggly Pirate Notion

I had a dangerously daring piggily wiggly notion
To become a swashbuckler pirate and live in the ocean
Cut off my right leg, replaced it with a peg, hopped toward the sea.
Became a happy buccaneer, slashing other pirates right under the knee.

Seamless

In came the cool fretting wind
Unwrapping the gathering waves
Unsettling a once scenery mind
Into a fist full of doubt
We stretched to view
The troubling distance
Unrevealing a present danger
Splashing and slashing
Every foot hold on reality

Love and Wrath

In came the cool fretting wind
Unwrapping the gathering waves
Unsettling a once scenery mind
Into a fist full of doubt
We stretched to view
The troubling distance
Unrevealing a present danger
Splashing and slashing
Every foothold on reality

The Tongue

It slays without drawing a drop of blood
In an instant, turns reputations to mud
Its eloquence sets the innocent free
A serpent's weapon, resides in you and me

Guardian of a treasure trove of words
Pink slashing plasma, mightier than swords

Trembling In Remembrance of Last Year

The plant saw the clippers and gave a squeak
Trembling in remembrance of last year
The gardener passed her, his manner bleak
To begin slashing and chopping incredibly near
The crucified plant made a tiny little eek
Increasing the dandelion’s worst fear

Nature

Edgy waters
Flocking birds
Slashing rain
Shattering Thunderbolts
Gaping canals
Waterfalls of trees
What was I thinking
In slow whispers
As I read Mary Oliver
To learn about Nature
My journey as a poet has hardly begun
But being a poet is my strive

Duplex

Paper Skin I touched my skin and winced in pain. Stinging Throbbing Bruising Aching You tore my soul to shreds again. Slashing Ripping Splitting Clawing Scratching A wild creature would do far less damage. 7.12.2016

Welcome Home Storm

Whipping gulf clouds burn
Sheets of sideways rain
People's worried smiles
hurry, pass me by
I'm a lazy girl

Rumbling starts in
Slashing lightning
I mosey home
to watch the storm

Slow feet now
Pellet rain
Lock the door

Sweet sound
Tire me

Peace.

The Devils Clown

Carrying a hatchet to town
dressed up in a jester’s nightgown;
This victim of a painted frown;
The Devil’s clown, the Devil’s clown;

Slashing at pain with a wild laugh
armed with an old booth photograph;
On your heart carved his autograph
cut it in half, cut it in half.

My Perfect Posy

I found a garden
A perfect bloom in the middle of a verdant
sea of green

a sip of rain balanced upon a rosy peach petal
reflecting the flames of sunrise
I stopped to ponder its loveliness

A cold metal thing, all angry voices
and slashing blades
swept by and
murdered my perfect posy

Torment

The tiger always comes at night,
With slashing claws and deadly bite.
His eyes, they gleam with bitter hate,
His scream the answer to my fate.....

My dreams no longer speak my name,
I know tomorrow brings the same.
And yet with hope your love I seek,
The tiger's breath upon my cheek......

The Last Days

The words came slashing
Shortening the towering statue
With blows after blows
 visible dents were made
To these lifetime stones
Strengthened with sweat and stress
Now crumbling from the swirling saliva
Raging from each forming words
Words from decades past
unsteadily revealing the weakened stones
embed within

A predator came calling

We forgot to close the coop and a
predator came calling.
We became entangled by his loop
and now the government he's uphauling.
We let a nemesis on the premises,
so billionaires he's installing..
Slashing and gutting Federal agencies.
What will survive this mauling?
The chaos and the casualties,
so tragic and appalling..

The Damselfly

Even then blue roused up
beautiful images and sensations,
settled so many fragile feelings
in a small boy’s imagination –
like music and the damselfly.
Enchanted, awed, transfixed by turn,
he watched the neon creature
chalk its name in slashing lines
of electrifying blues across
a transparent blackboard of air.
