We Are Redundant

we finish each other's sentences
saying "we are redundant" six times a day
it's forty-nine years later and we remain
maniacally crazy about each other

Invisiblity Spell -An Excerpt Brigitte Pace

“Place this cloak around you and blink six times
You will then hear three chimes
When your body begins to shudder
You’ll be invisible to your own mother!”

Prayers That Count

Many pray every day, or so they say
Others claim to pray five-six times a day

I think the majority never pray
But 'in a foxhole' know what to say

Where's the Damn Mayo?!

(This is a fictional poem)

My sandwich didn't have any mayo so I sent it back.
The waitress spit on it so I gave her a smack.
They put me in jail and the prisoners raped me six times.
You'd better listen when I tell you never to commit a crime.

King Henry Viii

King Henry the VIII
                                                     Changed England's faith.
                                                       Six times he did marry.
                                                      Three wives he did bury.

Sex

Queen Johanna I of Naples
Reigned over the marriage bed
"No wife must yield to her husband
More than six times per day," she said.

And now you know the reason
Why they all died young, back then
It wasn't the spaghetti
Just cocks chasing after the hen!

If I Had a Broken Heart

Oh, wait!
I DO have one.
Tried to avoid it early on.
Tried to deny it when it happened

the first five or six times.

Broken, healing, broken, healing
cycling up spirals.

Every wound scars over
with less rigidness than
what got scarred.

How else could life possibly grow?

The Olde Country Fair

The old county faIr
Six times on the Ferris wheel
A three dog night

A sudden shower
Run for cover or shiver
Uncurled ringlets laugh

A tiny trophy
A water pistol winner
Clutched in sleeping hands

Our overture
A rumble of fireworks
Beneath a rainbow

Dump Trump the Grump

Trump slipped on the ice as a kid
His mum thought that he'd flipped his lid
Because - with the dawn -
His ethics were gone
His dad blamed the Wizard of Id

A six-times bankrupt is not a fool
Just a crook decidedly cruel
He buys without paying
Thinks chicks are for laying
With free bleach injections for school

Selling Sixpences On Sunday

Some simpleton said Sally saved sixpence
So she sold sixpence six Sundays in a row,
Saving six sixpences six Sundays in a row
It has never been done before or since…
Selling sixpence to some simpleton Simon
Six Sundays in a row!
[Repeat six times quickly]

I used to drive like that

Driver on interstate has pressed his accelerator hard
I used to drive like that – daily
To and from work with gritted teeth
Expecting death at any minute
Racing here, there, nowhere really
The stress was gruesome
In the last nine months I have driven six times
Less than one time per month
Retirement is a happy unicorn that I am grateful to lie on

Lightning They Name Is Woman

there is a tree in the forest
targeted by lightning in a storm
ten times more likely to get hit
than any other tree

because lightning has a “type”
like men have a “type”
she goes after an oak
six times more often than any other tree

no one knows why
because they have forgotten that lightning is a woman
who wants to destroy the sturdy and the strong
she wants to take down a man

Come Here Allow Me To Feel How You Hurt-

Nine times I call you yet you have no ears; Eight times I follow you yet your standing right, here Seven times I embrace you yet you pull away; Six times your emotions fall I forgive you come here Your emotional toil your outburst allow me to embrace you once more With full empathy, I feel how you hurt

Moon Balls

What do you call them? I asked taking a peek.
They each had an expression, and they were sleek.
Bouncing at least six times for every throw down.
These moon balls with smiles took away my frown.

Who shall I give them too? I asked the joyful man.
Give them to the children, and you may call me Stan.
I passed them out, spreading excitement and joy.
Watching enormous grins happen on each girl and boy.

Grandpa Knew What to Say

Grandpa Elephant had a new lady friend on line.
He invited her to meet him at Scarsdales to dine.
Dressed up in his Sunday best along with his Derby hat.
Don’t you look spiffy! His grandchildren said, so phat!

Grandpa was given six or eight pieces of advice.
From youngsters he was older than six times twice.
I am ninety-six he told his grandson Roy.
I know what to do, so leave me alone little boy.

Kiss Me

Kiss me once, then kiss me twice,
Oh your kisses are so nice.
Kiss me three times and then four,
I love your kisses! Kiss me more!
Five times, six times, even seven,
Your lips on mine are truly heaven.
Kiss me with passion, kiss me sweet,
Baby, sweep me off my feet!
Kiss me tender and kiss me long,
It's in your arms that I belong.
Kissing you is my joy and delight.
Loving you has made my life bright.

Authors Note:
The spelling, grammar errors and dialect
are done intentionally.
It is my attempt to keep within the 1800's era writing style.
A writer of that time period was lucky to be able
to write their own name.

Ugly Plastic Fern

Doctor’s office
The fern in the corner is plastic
They couldn’t afford silk?
There is nothing refreshing about it

There is a candy jar
The old guy has been up there six times
I know because he brings the wrapper to me
I am sitting next to the wastepaper basket

That fern is disturbing
Anything that ugly should not be shared
I would be doing them a solid
If I put it into the wastepaper basket with these wrappers

Your Kiss

your kiss
is an ambrosia
of which I have never before tasted
six times and counting
you've left a smile pasted
upon my lips
throughout my body courses pleasure
a hard blush
of the likes which can't be measured
your smell fills my head
pulls my racing thoughts to a hush
and time stretches to eternity
with the light tread
of your lips on mine
yet it's never long enough
never deep enough
to satisfy my passion
for you

Sam the Eligible Bachelor Cat

Sam was the fluffiest Tom on the Parisian block
The tittering of females was found around the clock
They came into Starbucks at a quarter until eight
Giggling and gaggling, which he did not appreciate

Give it a rest, Sam thought, as he tried to read his book.
They were older ladies, giving him a “come hither look”.
He was tired of being married, he had done it six times before.
He would always amble home to Mama at a quarter to four.

Three Little Words

Say it once…
And I’ll be happy.
Say it twice…
And it’ll sound sappy.

Say it three times…
And I’ll just think of you.
Say it four times…
And I’ll just dream with you.

Say it five times…
And I’ll never whine.
Say it six times…
And I’ll be on cloud nine.

Say it seven times…
And I’ll be speechless.
Say it eight times…
And I’ll go breathless.

Say it nine times…
And I’ll fall for you.
Say it ten times…
And I’ll be in love with you.

It Is Not My Business But

The woman calls me to tell me something about Pat,
a mutual neighbor.
It’s not my business but….
She says this at least six times during the conversation
She has many suggestions, and she thinks I should implement them.
I roll my eyes, thinking this woman thinks I am her business too.
Maybe the whole world is her business.
It must be exhausting to think like that.
What are you doing to do about it? She asks me.
Nothing, I tell her. It’s not my business.

Respect Is Automatic Until

Respect is automatic
until they have double-crossed you six times
spit in your underwear
and you have caught them in their eighth lie

Respect is cheerfully given
unless they hurt your feelings good and hard
unless they trip you at the top of the stairs
unless you overhear them making fun of you again

Respect is eagerly available
until they remind you of someone else
who has disrespected, hurt or betrayed you
If they do, it’s all over before it gets started.
