Hill Moon For the Owl
Hill moon eclipsed in the rain-filled blue clouds
Dark and light play in the boughs
Old owl plays the sitar

Premium Member She Slips On Slippery Slope
She swims on streaming sonata of spring song,
sailing slow sings solo in squall surge so strong,
slips on sheer slippery slope of sticky silt sheets,
on split Sitar of snapped strings she sourly sits.

North Star
Of which
the moral
he never found
That allegory was she
Sing to a fine tune,
he could never
That ballad was she
Taking pride
In a deaf audience
that sitar,
that shehnai was she
Writ in a language
He knew not
That manuscript was she
She was the North Star,
He a blind, lost traveler...

Invaded Identity
I am me
Who said this?
So is my body
An invaded custody
Occupied by her
Thoughts and memories
Two sided glossaries
Not a reflection is mine
That would determine
My own identity
Out of my sanctity

I may be a string
Of any cacophonous Sitar
Where she creates
On my wounds
Riot of sounds
Without bounds...

For Ravi Shankar: This Is What It Was
Raga. Sun shifts as fingers on
sitar.
Ravi Shankar is dead.
Old women in dark clothes
make it down the road through
a tabla of sounding rain

We know not sometimes
what effects us until it
has done so.

Play music in the cell phone
and breath while awaiting the
bus.

Pour honey onto bread at home
and think, this is what it was....

A sliver moonlight
icon’s silhouette
rooted to the spot
sitar sensei pop
art venue dye stamped

wistful sly grin
masks grey tinged beard
svengali imp
of fretboard glee

awestruck throng’s
dry cough whinge
stage plank creak

taut nails
skydive

Drops of Rain
Drops of rain
are pearls on your skin
Like a warm shower,
They seem like a dream
Like a heavenly tune from the white conch
You are in my sitar
Shy as a drop of honey

Like the night-time cloud
Like the star in the sky
You stand so far away from me

I wonder why the waxing moon
doth wait for me.

Like the sunlight in the dew drop
In your eye is my kiss.
Like the fall of a feather
In the cool moon-light...

Soundless Sound
If you listen with your eyes closed for a while
“For a while” I say,
“Awhile” may be hours to you as it ‘s for me.
Until you hear the soundless sound echoing.
It is not a rustle of the leaves; not a hum of a bee.
It is neither a rippling of the ocean waves in a starry silent night
Nor, a fanning wings of a humming bird.
Is it a violin, a sitar or a flute in a mono orchestra?
Yet I do not know,
“Music” I never have heard before.
My friend,
For a while, let me hear it awhile.

You
You were no flowers or
a necklace of pearls.
You have not adorned yourself
yet you look so beautiful.
The beauty of your
youth adore as you.
Your youth is your asset.
You are the freshness
of the flowers.
You are so simple.
The wind carries the
fragrance of you when you walk.
The sitar begins to play
when you speak.
Your body is like gold
your smile, like peari.
Your lips are so intoxicating
you are the flame of beauty.
Your face is like an idol
which I see every time....
