Haiku 17
By: Tom Wright

I shudder to think
Perhaps my greatest moment,
I saved for later.
peace before a battle
taut for the trample
in the breeze petals shudder
*thanks Debbie for the revision*
I check hotel beds
imagine them lurking there
shudder at the word
shorten it to just BBs
the very thought makes me sweat

September creeps close
as August hangs on dearly
subtle hints of Fall...
an odd tingling in the air
a slight shudder in the trees
querying the night
high in towering pine tree …
small creatures shudder

Autumn skies shepherd
splashes of blazing gold, red
brown watercolor
descending foliage creak
and shudder, respite and waits

A Milk Maid on McDonald's Farm
Incited a sense of alarm
Her grip on an udder
Made all the men shudder
And that was just part of her charm!
I pictured her milking an udder
And it made my whole body shudder
Then mum piped up,
"Forget her, pup!
She's bound to be some buddy's mudder!"
She loved milk straight from the cows teat
It gave her boyfriend Juan a shudder
The ultimatum he voiced was clear
It has to be Juan or the udder!
two bodies shudder
locked arms and legs disengage…
wild wind rushes in
agitated the tent flees
they took an early shower

“Place this cloak around you and blink six times
You will then hear three chimes
When your body begins to shudder
You’ll be invisible to your own mother!”
A pain I have
Yes I do
A pain I have just for you
A pain thats like no other
Causing you to shudder
A pain I have
Yes I do
A pain I have caused by you
Shudder at the mention of a freeze
living for an eighty degree breeze;
I never cared for the cold,
I am allergic to snow;
Forever swaying with palm trees.
Eyes clenched in delight
Ecstatic shudder in spine
Climax without end
Feel the throb of bliss within
Ceaseless purring ignition

kneeling I pour out
father – your love I need . . .
hold me, I shudder

Live Generously
I
shudder
to think
what
the world
would be
without
the moon
the stars
the sun
without you

Scenes perform in mind
As an antique movie play
Stir dormant feelings
Shivering skin with intense
Earthquake and volcano scale

I had a cow with only one udder
She never gave milk to make my butter
Her udder was hard to pull
But I found out she's a bull
Thinking back now really makes me shudder
A ship requires a captain, and a rudder
uncharted seas - courage, and a shudder
Picking up speed, egos unchecked
tempt fate, shipwreck
Lady,
I cry, and I cry, and I cry
For I want you to want me--
And I shudder when I look into your eyes
For all I see is Beauty
(And I can see me inside thee)

I shudder to think of Mr. Magoo
He got himself in an awful stew
Blind as a bat,
Fell in a vat
Sadly, it was a cauldron of glue.

A black widow?
(Quick shudder)
A brown recluse?
Lurking in shoes.
Red Rover, Red Rover,
one bite and it's over?
No just a half inch "noir"
on her way to the car,
children at home
alone.
Form:
It's not their fault, you know
They tried their best to help you grow
Look in the mirror, pal
Stare all day if that's what it takes ~
to move your conscience to shudder and shake
I SHUDDER IN THIS LIGHT
I RECOIL AWAY
INTO MYSELF
COVERING MY EYES
SCREECHING
PULLING AWAY
SKIN SHIVERING
INSIDE
THE TASTE OF THIS
IS BITTER
I CROUCH AND CRINGE
IT'S CLUTTERING ME UP INSIDE.
blinding lightning
shatters
watery darkness
of the sky;
blast of thunder--
wipers shudder,
dragging themselves
across
my rain-battered
windshield;
need to pull over
for a safe shiver.
