Slippery squat salamander squinding,
Sucking, slurping under my sailboat.
Deviously deciding a dindling,
Grotesque gargoyle giants squind your throat!...

Salamander Oasis
Our ripe minds protrude
Waiting to be ripped-
A signal to leave behind
The excess of all other moments

We allow our fallen tails
Re absorption through the ground
Back into the neverending fervor...

The Year I Found
My dead self in
The flowerbed, grey
As a marbleized salamander
Beneath a bleed of acorn roots
I placed the devil mask
Over the fireplace, counter
Spell so to speak.
Then came the kicker- my wife
Chopping down the tiger lilies
As I drove up the driveway
After a bad day....

A Chinese Giant Salamander
I had just finished reading about
The Chinese Giant Salamander
About how they are almost extinct
I must say something in all candor

I may just need a little fiber but
It's hard for me, myself to console
I feel forlorn because I'm afraid
I just flushed one down my toilet bowl!...

Premium Member He Is His Own Piglet
But I do not want to be grimy
Wish I was a salamander, slimy
You’re a piglet. You should love mud said Dad.
Dirty soiled hooves and hair should not make you mad.

Let him be said Mom. He is his own best pig.
For her my identity was important, truly big.
Daddy backed off from his far away boy.
Giving this piglet a renewed sense of joy....

7th Day Advent
EARLY MASS IN ORDINARY TIME

Gray helmet hair, carefully
Curled, dangling earrings,
Designer suit, ear of salamander,
Eye of newt. White haired
Soulmate, shoulders strong,
More is More, importance seen
In every pore: Respectability
highly prized, but my Sunday
Plea to The Powers That Be:
Deliver Me from Respectable,
     so unacceptable....

Premium Member Fireball
a yearning of alabaster guilt given birth
from this mouth of words mesmerising
like rings of Saturn, behold encroached
by your retort, cutting if not comic, life
adjacent to corners of some death, you
lit fires with a tongue and let them burn
reeling in oceans, as salamander heads
lined exotic craters of timely eruptions
yet honey melts heaven in a single kiss

NISAN 14
Memorial of Jesus' Sacrifice
Today is the actual day Jesus died for us
It's according to the Jewish Calendar
He died at dusk
A Christian symbol; salamander
ancient for keeping temptation away
That is what I'll do for Him today
On this very holy day, on my knees I pray
to thee, my Savior
Lead us not into temptation

Keep doing this in remembrance of me--Luke 22:19

Premium Member a spot of tea in the sea
Said squid to snail, “let’s have a spot of tea.”
Mermaid was invited, and she arrived at three
Grandpa fish read a book about a tale of the sea.
They had such a lovely time, it was an eating spree.

Snail had fixed donuts covered sprinkles of pure glee.
Mermaid brought along cakes made by her maid, LaFee.
Squid brought along tiny tidbits of salamander bree.
Grandpa fish came empty handed, but his reading was quite free....

Your essence is still and will always be with us

Your unlimited love and compassion a beacon

For those in need of acceptance and comfort

Your smile a sign of divine joy and content

Your embrace all-encompassing and warm

Your humour could brighten any dark mood

Your wisdom a gift from God

Your absence a daily struggle in life’s bubble

Your legacy pulls us through
As we declare daily our love for you…

Premium Member Wilding Fawn
I saw the raven night withdrawn
as scarlet of a peacock dawn
arose atop the crested east
and as the bleeding scape increased
one feral star I wished upon.

I prayed for summer fire to yawn
across my salamander lawn--
lay low the winter's ice-fanged beast.

But even now gold hours are gone,
September's afternoons are drawn
away to Autumn's umber feast,
its shadows porcupine released
as further strays the wilding fawn.
