The gift
I thought I would make for a laugh
A gift for my new pet giraffe
Well I tried and I tried
Persevered till I cried
But I finally managed a scarf...

Someone They Did Spoil
Someone They Did Spoil

He acted like someone they did spoil;
Is mad and behavior over would boil;
Never persevered,
While acting weird,
And life had been in constant turmoil.

Rowing Through Life's Waters
Rowing through
Life's waters..
Treading against
The tide..

Not stopping
For a moment
Because of
Being tired..

Looking towards
The future..
Energized
And persevered..

Expectations
Along the horizon..
Rowing through..
Into the clear..

Quitters Never Win

An old man who fell down a shaft Just sat in a heap looking daft But his friend persevered And he soon reappeared Then looked down the shaft and just laughed

Perseverance
My cousin bought a horse and he fell off when he attempted to ride.
People told him to quit but he tried and tried.
He never gave up and he was never scared.
He learned how to ride that horse because he persevered.
We should all persevere when it comes to our goals and dreams.
We shouldn't give up no matter how hard it seems....

Follies
Upon the active banks of the Mississippi
The river boat had edged along its way
As many people walked the decks together
While in the background, lovely music played
The air was filled with laughs and joy
A strong reminder of the times of glee
For Robert Fulton, with full steam, persevered
And the rest, my friends, you know is history...

The Song We Once Knew
It is a song
that we grew up with

A song which contains
our hopes, joys and fears

But the mists of time
obscured our sight, our sensitivity

The mists of time
began to block the flow of chi

But we persevered
Once again our song shall be sung

Over the land
A bird wings its way home

And we watch
enchanted by the sight...

Vintage Poet
For time clogs our minds,
  While you flourished into life.
You kept on through the hardships,
  And hurtled over strife.

Your inner will was great,
  An inner force of will.
You persevered your roll in life,
While the world was standin’ still.

You ran circles around the world,
  With your powerful thoughts.
You are a vintage poet,
  That the world forgot....

And Still...
And still,
Time freezes
As you capture me
Within your furtive eyes

And still,
Standing captive
In the core of humanity
The world continues unaware

And still,
Between you and I
There is adoring fervor
An undeniable intertwining

And still,
You ignore my flaws
My reluctance in revealing
An open austere vulnerability

And still,
You persevered
Finding a way inside
Granting me the purest of love...

Together In Spirit
Steadfast friends are separated,
With leagues of land in between.
They overcame the ill-fated,
With love written through, 'twixt and 'tween.

Together in spirit and heart,
They persevered through the pain.
Looked back never once from the start,
Nor paused when fell the rain.

'Twixt, 'tween, and through is love written;
Ill-fated has been overcome;
The in-between land is leagues;
Separated friends are steadfast....

Marching In
February bid adieu
And March marched in, like months should do.
It wasn’t lion-like today;
Tomorrow, though, will roar away.

Some shoots are poking through the ground
While leafless branches still surround
And robins haven’t yet appeared;
The sparrows, though, have persevered.

We can’t predict how March will roll.
It’s really out of our control
But likely, ‘fore it starts to scram,
We’ll get a little taste of lamb....

Forest
Strolling on the edge of the parking lot
surrounded by mechanical beasts
I saw your opening.
Nothing special
just a rift between the bushes.
"Come, child," you whispered.
"Come into my leafy embrace."
Determined, I pushed my way through your thorns.
My skirt caught on them
and you scraped against my legs
your nettles stinging me harshly.
But I persevered.
And you swallowed me whole.

Your narrow passegeway opened
into a massive cavern of life...

Marked For Life
by choice
she is marked
this emblem of change
she persevered
this liberating sting
to win these wings of color
hearing the humming
of pain
as the needles
pierce her skin
with deliverance
the cocoon
her secret dungeon
falls to the ground
as she breaks away to fly
this symbol
forever hers
never erased
all her own
she cherishes the wings
of this butterfly
on her back
the perfect place
for all those
in her past to see
as she walks away...

Better Plastics
We need better plastics,
To hell with the bakelite saints
That stand silent inside,
The great wheels,
 of the grand vehicle.
Forever sleeping behind visqueen,
Covered plexiglass,
 hiding themselves
From the eyes of prophets,
And cruel November.

We need better plastics,
The Christ that guards
The scorpion forever persevered
In lucite;has become,
frail from the sunlight
And cracks, with each
Touch,slowly deteriorating
With each passing December....

Under My Sins
Under my sins
As the waves of the thunderstorm rises
Upon my throne to threaten my scene
To be unseen...I speak the words
Toned of reckless means
Tear my eye with no cloud of waters
For I have prudent my salvation immortal
....embraced it by the lion’s sculpture
Tear my eye not to swallow rivers
For I’ve persevered my soul to only GOD
The way of light and life
Tear my eye not to drown
...though to find a everlasting life
 Under my LORD’s arms
These are the words under my sins. END...

Premium Member New Year Sunrise
Post-drought the winter dawning creeps
across my coarse and brindled lawn,
a molten ocean snail-like seeps
and spreads its early morning yawn.

A lambent thread it first appeared
to rise and fall with rooftops' pitch.
Across the frost it persevered,
this aura of an angel which

has fixed me to this gilded spot
with silent prayers in misted breath,
the fuchsia-ed clouds the sky's begot
above a saffron-laureled wreath.

The first of January wakes
effulgent as the new year breaks....
