An Unusual Cat
When I looked at her I was awed
Sweet cat, she was only three pawed
Could run very fast
But wobbled alas
Decided to name her Tripod....

The Novelty
While reading one of my novels up in my loft,
was easily distracted by something soft,
my kitty pawed at me,
couldn't ignore it or flee,
until after awhile the novelty finally wore off....

Cold Sky
winter wolves have eaten the tulips
the wind has pawed and pillaged
small dogs strain on their leashes
a summer storm has ice in its veins
warner airs arrived too late
to save the groundhogs litter
bitter are the fruits
                  of this fanged season...

Premium Member Wrapping the Gifts
To wrap Christmas gifts
Is not so easy to do
When the dog is near
As soon it is wrapped
It is pawed openedhe
She is told to stop
Barking is heard loudly
She does this to open gifts
The more gifts wrapped-
She will paw open
Whether it is her's or not
The dog does this every year...

A Pancake
people tell me
can't you see
we're not
Shakespeare

our lives are not
being played
in the round
but flat

all the world
is a stage
all the people
are players

then i watch
my neighbor's cat
thinking if the world
we're truly flat

everything
would have
been pawed
off the edge...

Premium Member Barking Maggie
Maggie was barking at me today
I did not know the reason why
She went to her green blanket
Then pawed at it and barked
I could not understand why
The reason for her barking, barking
Until I lifted up the green blanket
To see her dental bone
Ah! ..The mystery solved
She could not get her treat...

Ifog Cloud
they come like little pawed feet
gathering strings and yarns of life
silently sitting on their haunches
eager to peek further in the door
'til hounds arouse to nip at bytes
and paws skitter and move on

Ball
                yellow
               for a dog
              a happy dog
             when the ball thrown
            she runs towards the ball
pawed the ball and chased it
when it gets stuck, she needs help
then chases the ball around the bedroom
barking so happily in her play time...

Kitty's Call of Nature
The little kitten pawed at the ground
Dug out the earth
The way its mama taught it
Then it squatted
And as though recalling something
Looked around
To ensure no eyes were watching

Its eyes met mine-
His, cowrie shaped and green
Mine, big, brown and curious-
And wide eyed
Perhaps horrified
It jumped away
And went round
The far corner of the house....

Premium Member Black Cat Eyes
I saw a black cat
Sitting on a window sill
Playing with a yellow moon
The moonlight yarn
She pulled and pawed
It seemed as if the moon
Came undone from her spool
Shining sparkling yellow thread
The witch working on her loom
The black cats, eyes yellow
The moon nestling, I presume!

Premium Member Caught Red Pawed
Caught red-pawed in the refrigerator; with missing milk, by a man called, Gator. Guilt was written all over his face, this feline by whom the milk was displaced. He claimed he’d been mugged locked in by a milk thief but, saying a fairy did it, was beyond belief. He was caught red-pawed, a clear guilty verdict; pronounced by Gator, and shockingly quick.

My Friend
He was my friend,
The one I trusted.
He left me lonely,
And disgusted.

I felt betrayed,
Emptie and dirty.
Used by a BASTARD,
Who just wanted to hurt me.

He pawed me,
He clawed me,
He used me no end.
Now he is no longer my friend!

I don't know what to do,
I'm afraid to tell,
Cause if I do,
He says I'll go to HELL!

Someone help me before I die,
Cause in the end......
It's HIM or I!?...

Premium Member Ask the Cat
Ask the cat, the old man said, she is in charge of me.
“Do you have a dime for us?” asked the family of three.
The cat stared them down, she was trained you see.
To save the old man from giving money to thee.

She is my savior, my heroine, my best friend, the old man said.
I hope we go together, for what would she do if I’m dead.
The cat yawned big and pawed a pattern out on his head.
Unconcerned about death, home, heaven or her cat bed....

Red Dog an Aussie of Gypsie proclivities
Pawed rides through the Outback without civilities
When he wished to depart
He let rip a grand fart
Then jumped from the car with much facility

Once leapt up behind a bike rider
The driver rode fast
Until he got gassed
And Red dog flew off in a hyper

Maggie pawed the patio door
To tell me she wanted out
She laid upon the deck
For a short while-then
A bunny appeared not
     too far
It was a newly born rabbit

So off she ran like a leopard
Chasing the little bunny
Suddenly she caught it
Oh..how shocked I was
I was feeling so upset
To see this part of her

Never did I see this side
I did not think she'd kill
She has four sides of her
One bad and gentle
Harsh..for creatures
Kind when there are humans...

Palmistry
The chimp stretched its arm,
palm up under my chin,
fingers and thumb supple,

a pink-pawed sharing.

It’s a palm-reading offering,
if only I had the skill to interpret it.

There is a life-line.
It looks a lot like mine,
there are breaks in it
like mine.

I see a heart-line,
it seems squeezed to one side,
like mine.

His handler moves on.

I am left wondering
if it was I who had been read,

and why now does my palm
resemble a map
of my dreaming face?...
