Some people get lonely at college,
but I never really feel alone.
I have these critical parental voices
that always keep me company
and point out my mistakes.
I am grateful for my parents…
and this wisdom they subtly dispersed…
that behind every child who believes in themself
is a parent who believed in them first.
June showed her pluck at an early age
As prophesized by a pleasant sage
Six nuns tried to put her into a cage
This quickly made Omaha’s front page
Causing lots of readers parental rage
She is loose today, in Alzheimer’s stage
May we be blessed to understand
our shoulders are meant to carry the weight of our children’s worries…
that is one of our parental powers…
And just as blessed to understand our children’s shoulders
were never meant…to carry the weight of ours.

I am grateful for understanding parental math…
although I’m sure my elementary teachers
would think my math misguided…
How the love for each of our children,
grandchildren
and great grandchildren
can be whole…
no matter how many times it is divided.
Public opinions that
Undermine the ground on which we walk
Bedeviled only be enticing jeers
Emotions that are vexing are laid-out with a cuss
Ranting & raving "The world is out to get us!"
Taking in sustenance over parental spiels
You've not forgotten how it feels?
growing in body and mind.
lots of living to do, still.
bunch of life lessons to learn;
i m b i b e parental wisdom
schooled on the birds and the bees
keep searching for yourself, kid.
make the most out of your youth!

and ice cream on a hot day in July

As I Walk in winters cold
children seek warmth
amid parental windbreaks

as for the sighs I hear

that the public is no place for profanity.

is considered dirty and not clean.

then it is something you have to hide.

Advising a teenager to neglect all parental advice
Unleashing so much anger when love is on public display
Courting the girl next door just to steal her puppy
Endless stupidity, heaping more stains on an already bad personality
We are here to enjoy our children.
This is your life too.
Scolding, shouting, gritted teeth.
None of that is physically fun.
Let your lighter graces take flight.
Steer yourself and them into serenity.
Only into lunatic black holes
Can you come out the unexpected end where
Memories are forged in trust in the other.

We seem to move on flat surfaces
Instead of curve surfaces
And we have no danger of
Falling out and disappeared into space
A parental love
Is just like the force of gravity
Drawing us heartily close and tight
Freeing us from
Frights and nervousness
Tensions and pressures
Helplessness and disappointments
