Unfortunately Gary it is reality and no easy way to spell it out other than the way it is, these diy abortions are rampant in developing countries, but even in our own industrialised countries, sexual abuse and rape of young women by family members lead to this terrible scenario, a recent court case over here in Ireland was the prompt for this one, cheers David

so few words say so much and unfortunately women/ girls die as a result of trying to rid themselves of the baby especially if the child was conceived by rape or abuse. after she qualified my mum worked in an abortion clinic and stories she told me will remain with me forever:-( hugs Jan xx

For all the leaps and bounds we’ve made Jan, with women having the right to choose in some countries Other countries haven’t changed in centuries, I’m sickened by the verified and catalogued stories, of family members and gangs raping and impregnating these women with impunity, I simply want to keep it in peoples mind Be careful they haven’t gone away, cheers David

"hacks fetus from womb" Oh my ! I don't understand why anyone would do this. It is very wrong on many levels. They have no morals and no respect. My heart breaks knowing this happens. I wish these horrific acts would end. ~ Brandy

Heya Brandy, I know my monoku is very bleak, but the reality is that this is commonplace in certain countries, the unfortunate ones doing the hacking are young rape victims, molested by relatives and family, and rather than carry the rapists child take matters into their own hands, and self abort, It is tragic but true, cheers David

The only thing worse than these young women being abused Belle, is the terrible decision they feel compelled to make, to mutilate themselves in order to get rid of the abusers baby, a nightmare scenario indeed, thank you for commenting, cheers David

Hi David, You've penned such a well-written one-liner. Although the subject is taboo and controversial, I would not want it to go back to a time before Roe VS. Wade. Am I for abortion? Certainly not. I believe abstinence, protection, and adoption is a good solution for abortion. But there are instances where a woman feels she has no choice but to abort, such as rape, etc. With that being I think taking away a women's right to choose is far worse- Alexis

Absolutely Alexis Women only won the right to (choose) a couple of years ago in Ireland, before that it was a boat to England or some kind of hanger technique, some indeed where raped, I would not dare to judge these poor unfortunate women, I just wanted to highlight how prevalent these diy abortions still are in certain parts of the world, cheers David

Heya Lasaad, thank you for commenting on this controversial and sometimes taboo subject, these hanger techniques are still rampant in parts of the world, the girl is pregnant probably raped by a family member, or someone who has been abusing her, and rather than carry what she sees as his aberration to term, decides to take matters into her own hands, and will possibly die in the process, cheers David
