They paddled till we reached the shore
Where I set them free to explore
Then back to the sea
This sailor did flee
They’ll not paddle me anymore

Limerick
A very rich lady from Burbank,
Was in a canoe when it sank,
Her fur and diamonds got lost
In the watery impost,
As she dog-paddled her way to the bank.

Limerick
There once was a troublesome brother
Who was mean to his dear old mother
She paddled him hard
Out in the back yard
Better a paddling than the druther.

Limerick
I lay on the turf
one night
I turned the
sky upside down
And into a black sea
and rode a canoe
And paddled and saw
myriad phosphorescence below
Twinkling one after
Another and so on . . .

I do not know?
ups n downs,
for the rich an the clowns,
the great leveler,
blue grey sea water,
consternation,
brought on the frowns,
death dog-paddled,
there in the water:(

Ballad
Here, the infant Day
In a misty hush
Lies, as swaddled.
Moses, among the reeds!
And the Nile's weeds.
No wind dares blow up.
Stirs, lapwing, leaf.
As duck, paddled.
Daughter of Eygpt's throne
Come claim your own!

Ilchee, the "Moon Girl".
She paddled her own canoe ~
Bronze gaze, heart of steel.

DELIGHTFUL DEFENSE
my girl talked too much
so I kissed her ruby lips
the silence was grand
………………………………………………
This Haiku was inspired by the great old, depression-day, chuckle – “She wouldn’t kiss me in
the canoe, so I paddled her back.”

at Holy Child School
I learn about God
met my best friend there
learn about baseball
and the other sports
three years was there
paddled third year
fighting classmate
then public school
religion
wasn't there
God I knew
always
with me

Diminished Hexaverse
I cook a rice, so I am a cook.
I need a cooker, so I can cook.
I didn't learn to cook from a book.
I only learnt, not to feed a crook.
I paddled on brook, there was a croc.
I wasn't to look, only to hear them talk.

Flickering notes paddled my thoughts
humming my inner spirit quotes
demanding to reason to fiction
the images in mind on a mission
to solve th' maze; all who need raise
encounter separate cases of phase
allow dreams to take place freely
fulfill my wishes like dilly

Over the wide stretch of water flowing along,
In a small boat the lovers made their way.
Before them the river hurtled headlong.
Leaving behind the sullen shores, all their cares,
Enjoying the currents’ swing and sway,
The two, paddled along to seamless shores.

Verse
Lying on a beach in Sydney,
scorched and sore in the dry heat,
the sand burns my toes.
I wander back to drizzly days in Leitrim,
when I paddled in my wellingtons
in puddles on the farm where I grew up.
Here rain seldom falls,
and only in quick downpours,
I long for soft days and misty rain
to moisten my face.

Gasping he sucked in deep
To breathe after made his survival complete
The wave rolled on and left him there
Riding the waves made it devil may care
The sun warmed him lying on his board
Another tick off the bucket list was scored
As he paddled to the distant shoreline
Feeling great and ready for the next item he’d find.

Ballad
We went on a boat ride
on the Ohio.
The river boat
paddled almost to the Mississippi
then it turned
ever so slowly into the night.
The dark steps of the waves
drowned our words.
We eavesdropped
on a language put together
from the splashed glances
of the moon.
It was all so barely concealed
a part submerged affair
we were having
with the shadowy heat
the slow churning depths.

The Staycation.
It’s time for my staycation,
Explore at home in this great nation.
No airport runs and a long wait,
I’ve just driven up the road to date,
with kids, bucket and spade, dog
and the sandwiches we made.
The sea may be cool,
But we found some pools
and paddled most of the day.
We love it! the family all say.
So it’s no more new time zone,
I will sit in Pevensey, with an ice cream cone.

Your
flight
lit
trees like lampblack ocean petals
patterns
ripping trapping
Me
this petrified me
he said
and you agreed
Lights
winged torches in the terracotta foothills like
like some seas paddled
like arc eyes
peepers
spilling downy scales
You are asphalt
he said
and you laughed
not with him at him
You are a turkey
you said
treading
darkly
and smiling his frog smile
Birds of a
feather

To touch space
and shiver against
those fabric-brushed
black fields of
dismembered poppies.
To see eyes sparkle
an epitaph of love,
in shallow-paddled
darkness,
hoping serenity
stays afloat,
just one
more
minute.
Breathless
they touch…
barely,
intensity
blowing sense
into void,
as ends one
minute’s calling`
and poppies run
black inked petals
to a brooding,silent heaven.

When I was a child, I hated the sun because it melted the snow.
When it was all melted, school was where I had to go.
The teachers liked to paddle over the least little things.
When I think about it, bad memories are what it brings.
They paddled the students when they talked.
The hallway was where many kids walked.
One student got paddled because he poured a small pack of salt on a seat.
I'm out of school and believe me when I say it's something I wouldn't repeat.
