Whoever said that there's no use crying over spilled milk
obviously never pumped six ounces
and then accidentally dumped it.

A time-honored system of old
Pegged cold cash to ounces of gold
But that’s not now true
Strong dollars are through
The treasure at Fort Knox is mold

The pumpkin rolls eyes in the dark and bounces
along. It’s uncanny how candy flounces.
A boy in a hurry.
Sweet teeth, they should worry.
The dental charge - cavities by the ounces.

I'm tired of the way the ball always bounces,
and of gaining pounds while only eating ounces,
tired that for every one step forward, there's two steps back,
and that my glass is always half empty because of the crack,
and tired of that poetry teacher ~ who my name perpetually mispronounces.

Small snowflakes sift
Through the cold air
Like ounces of sugar
Swirling everywhere
Wind seems to play around
With the flakes in designs
All the way to the ground
Depending on strength it gets
It may decide to leave drifts
Here, there and everywhere
As the magical movement shifts

the stegosaurus was thirty-feet long
this is as long as a person's large front porch
How big do you suppose her brain was?
As big as a full thirty-nine gallon garbage bag?
The size of a small midsized sedan?
Believe this or not, this huge creature’s brain was….
the size of a small walnut, weighing two and a half ounces.

she was a diva, loving her necklaces and low-cut blouses
not a church woman, a beach-loving hippie with freckled skin
if she took a liking to you, you became part of her tribe
if not, you would never see her again.
She has had hardships, heartaches, and ounces of doom.
Burdens no one with them, looking for the world’s daisies

The reason for this post Christmas fax
Knowing Santa needs most to relax
After eating my fudge
He thought I had a grudge
To sneak him four ounces of ex lax
But was all a very sad mistake
Later to him regrets I will make
Rich food so delicious
Can be most pernicious
It was there for my relief to take.

This is an event grander than any other.
A friend of mine has become a grandmother.
A girl was born to her son and daughter-in-law.
This is the cutest baby anyone ever saw.
Eight pounds, nine ounces, and fifty-one centimeters in length,
this baby girl named Ashley is the picture of strength.
This is a most blessed event.
There is a new life on the Australian continent.

While everyone is drowning in forty ounces of sorrow and success
I'd rather be dancing alone with my self fulfilling complex
I've read all the articles and heard your pseudoscience concepts
Just let me go and watch how fast my beating heart gets
When I'm standing alone in fields of dying leaves and lives fulfilled
Onto an empty canvas I spill

Here's a lighter bro
Spark up that home grown
Smoke going up ashes going down
This Indica ain't from around town
And I haven't seen you in a while
Since you moved down town
Hey, your wife wants you to settle down
But why does she always frown
Whenever I visit?
Is it because
I get your flat really cloudy
Smoking up ounces?
Is it because
I get your flat really dirty
Coz I'm clumsy with the ashes?

The human brain weights three pounds.
The human heart weighs eleven ounces.
Human skin is seven hundredths of an inch thick.
To know a humans mind and heart takes time.
It takes time to parse out the subtleties of their soul, to
know the content of their character. It takes an investment of intellect.
Those who judge a person simply by the color of their skin exhibit no intellect, no intellect whatsoever.

Carnival Games
Tiny glass rings tossed lightly,
bounce upon the bottles that
hold 8 ounces.
Time after time,
they fly through the air,
bouncing from bottle to bottle.
Money exchanged,
hand to hand again.
From time to time,
he leans over to kiss
his dear and pat her rear,
Tossing more and more rings,
more time goes by,
just to lean over for a gentle kiss
and the chance to pat her rear.

Peanuts nestled in my palm
Awaiting Black Capped Chickadees
These little pirates claimed their booty
And stole my heart away
Clawed feet hooked ‘round my pinky
As they appraised the contents
Then snatched the plumpest nuts
Yet no plunder was involved
When I begin to lose all hope
It seems I feel those tiny toes
Mere ounces lift my weighty pain
A fair exchange indeed

These precious
ounces of beer,
To me you are so
dear.
As I reach into your
icy home,
In hand you are with
me,
As I roam.
Either on a city
street,
Or you join me for a
beach retreat.
I pop you open,
You begin to foam.
Ever so enticing,
My thirst is
quenched.
With your crisp,
cool liquid,
My soul is drenched.
Thank you for your
therapy,
But lets not make
haste.
For I will see you
tomorrow,
Same time and place.

I do not know?
Rains of world's zillion drops
Ounces of jubilation and madness
Drains the clouds' teardrops
Bounces in invitation, not sadness
Rains over trees and heads that greets
Medleys in bees and hearts that sing
Pains healed when the sun and moon meets
Chimneys of hearth eject and bring
Rains of summer and misty skies
Skylining like rainbows before twilight
Drops of wonder flitting like dragonflies
Drizzling, soothing the hearts of the night

Slow sleek steps,
Pounces on its paws,
Snow-clad fur,
Brushes off impatiently,
Ears perk up,
When squeals and squeaks are heard,
Steady and slowly,
Merges with the blanket beneath,
Almost at ease,
Confidently it please,
Lowers into its position,
Ready to strike,
Pounces on its paws,
Announces in its jaws,
Mouse struck beneath its claws,
Ounces in vigilant strides as it withdraws.

Eight ounces in a coffee cup
Sixteen ounces in a pound
Both of these are things that you
Can wrap your mind around
Super-tankers plying the seas
Hold millions of gallons of oil
And weeks and years is how we see
Our lives and the time that we toil
Sixty seconds in a minute
Twenty-four hours in a day
Everything we know and have
Is measured in this way
We can quantify everything we know,
But if I might be so bold
Is there anyone that can tell me
How much love a heart can hold?

There are lots and lots of people who are always asking things,
Like Dates and Pounds-and-ounces and the names of funny Kings,
And the answer's always Sixpence or A Hundred Inches Long.
And I know they'll think me silly if I get the answer wrong.
So Pooh and I go whispering, and Pooh looks very bright,
And says, 'Well, I say sixpence, but I don't suppose I'm right.'
And then it doesn't matter what the answer ought to be,
'Cos if he's right, I'm Right, and if he's wrong, it isn't Me

The orange juice was being sold
At quite a nifty price.
I bought a few containers,
Feeling proud, not thinking twice.
But something made me double-check,
Since looks would not suffice,
And that is when I noticed
What I don’t think’s very nice.
Each orange juice container,
Looking normal, to entice,
Was a bunch of ounces smaller,
So I offer this advice:
When a bargain is presented,
You can always roll the dice,
But from corporate America,
There’ll be no sacrifice.
