Out From the Shadows
The answers
linger in the darkness

While questions
shimmer in the light

All reasons
alive with expectation

Open ended in wonder
—and delight

(Dreamsleep: March, 2021)...

My Best Poem Please Read If You Dare
I broke my mother's heart

To please my friends

Some bridges where not built to be mended

They are open ended

Like Ghost Station's

And platform's 9 and 3/4

Mind the Gap

Clickedy Clack

The journey terminates here...

Premium Member What Is Poetry
By Dawne Zacharias

Poetry is an
ever evolving
idea moving to
a new becoming

as the
opening of a
cedar chest
enlivens the senses

it creates a new essence
ripped from its original author
it becomes a new poem
an open-ended adventure...

Beyond Words
Are the questions far better
  than the answers?

Do they contain the possibility
  that definition never will?

Is the magic of perception
  open ended in wondering why?

Is the essence of life itself
beyond what words can ever tell?

The Bell Flower
It rings; open-ended shape of a bell,
Especially a flower -but to ring?
Only to a heart and fills air with smell
With scent and not sound yet it still will sing.
Air made so fresh by such a lovely thing.
Bell Flowers fills air with its stifling sweet,
Bells blessed by Lordly rain and suns kind heat....

My Dr Jekyll and His Mr Hyde
My tears are streaming
His eyes were beaming

My thoughts turn to past acts
His thoughts expose the cracks

My never-ending mental torture
His tools are put in order

My race is coming to an end
His race is at the first bend

My end is nigh
His begins on a high

My time here has ended
His time is open ended...

Bermuda Triangle Or a Mere Emotional Trap, In a Day Light Saving Zone
You may never know
Why that recruiter never had a job
Not for him, not for me.
He was a wide-eyed blue
And end of a story plot
As we need bodies in open ended doors
Barefooted writers and bold writers too.
Where you may never know the next platoon
Bermuda triangle or a mere emotional trap, in a day light saving zone !...

Nature's Playground
Green grass on the ground of possibilities
The geese sing the praises of common victory
Open ended, the landscape stretches individual imagination
Feel the breeze caressing the inner soul of man
Confidence is the current hue of the sky
Clouds of pride dance gracefully on top the ground's ceiling
Eroticism in simplistic and naturalistic gestures...

Nothing Left
You left the question open ended,
Yet the answer you knew.
What little price you had to pay,
And you couldn’t follow through.
Confused and abandoned,
Your eyes give you away.
Before they were so clear,
Covered now by clouds of doubt.
It all started with a question,
You knew the answer to.
But it ended in a shout,
And it’s all because of truth....

This poem is; an open-ended rhyme to myself;
In an emergency; break the glass, to save thine self
I've seen more than anyone should have to; but my eyes have more to give
They can't take; what you can will through, if you believe in the need to live
I'll be there for you; caring and true, my promises are walls; no sieve,
My devotion; not all that I give to you; defeat, I will outlive...

Eighty-five
Eighty-three-
we're so blessed.

Three aged kids
five grown grands
two small greats.*

Pray we stay
well- to watch
our babes grow.

A word ain’t worth a hill of beans.
Grafitti for computer screens,
a word can’t tell you what it means
(the thing it’s in existence for).

Each age forms self-defining views,
infatuations and taboos,
its West Points and its Waterloos,
but balks at what the butler saw.

The less that’s said, the sooner mended.
Nothing’s ever open-ended.
There’s people want to be offended,
and so it shall be, ever more....

Black plastic bag
discarded on the bridge
writhes like
an injured animal.

A paragraph of
birds in the blue
of the sky wing by
grammatically correct,
but open ended until
the commander in chief
changes its configuration
with punctuation.

A fleet of wild geese
flying their colors
barge in like
small battleships
in minor invasion.
The equation
some of us make
is: what price
Freedom?...

Premium Member Rattlers and Shooting Stars
I don't chirp very much... anymore.
I prefer to show case this journey in stanza.
Those open-ended cages that shooting stars and rattlers
occasionally escape from.

I choose not to be around the "them."
the earth stream is cascading with "them"
the users
the flame throwers of hurt and abuse
the spoilers of the soul
Polluters of good dreams.

I prefer to nest in a maelstrom of verse,
and the wonderful shadows they breed....

Open Ended Poetry Contests
Please give us a topic, at least just a clue
I have no direction, don't know what to do
Do I scribe what I know, or write from the heart?
Or do I quote Shakespeare and try to sound smart?
A ballad, a sonnet, a three line haiku?
Or try to be clever, and try a senryu
Perhaps using penta, and maybe i-ambic?
Dactylic or pyrric, it's sending me manic
So next time a subject, please tell us ahead
And I'll write something different to be a blockhead...

Premium Member Rewriting One's Life
Stern and forgotten
Able people started
Placing together the world
In the way we wanted
Never showing fault
Earnestly following
Many hearts within peace
Open ended love
Given freely in life
How do others react
To the history they’ve created
Do we smile in our past
Or are we ashamed
Please do not corrupt
May we bring together
Only the good in life
And leave behind
Everything else undesired

The Scrapbook That I Can'T Throw Away
Still frames with dead eyed memories.
Magic marker’d promises;
open ended lies
that I can’t seem to forget.
No matter how far I bury this thing
inside my closet. You always find your
way back, with a smile blooming
like a drunken rose.
Fingers run to the edge
of our little world’s grave yard;
flipping the nights over..
Trying to find the picture;
 a moment that will sate
the hunger of regret.
But I haven’t found it yet..

Premium Member A Toast To Enchantment
To butterflies, bats, and midnight creatures,
To the brilliant, the dark, and things unseen.
To roses, wine, and satin dresses,
To a lucid child-like dream.

To the musty scent of ancient places,
To thoughts distilled on a fragile page,
To open-ended expectations, and
Eccentricities of a secret sage.

To the promise that lies in what is unfinished,
To the charm in the rawness of the fray,
To quests that lead to curious changes,
And rest that unbinds peace and play....
