chasing words

Around my desk I chase the words
Some ridiculous, some absurd.
Petootsie flashes me with her bum
Multiplication demands a little sum

Multiplication, Tabled

Multiplication, Tabled
by Michael R. Burch

Be fruitful and multiply”—
great advice, for a fruitfly!
But for women and men,
simple Simons, say, “WHEN!”

Maths Pleiades

Mathematics is tough
Multiplication hard
Mental sums mind boggling
Maths theorems are worse
Mind confused in exam
Maths should be optional
Majority agree

Why Should I Know Multiplication

When will I need
Multiplication?
Why waste my day on it?

When will I need
This long division?
Why are we doing this?

I do not need
Spelling or writing
That’s your job, isn’t it?

Give Me the Facts of Multiplication

Student A brings in simplification.
Student B goes to Perth for a much needed vacation.
Student C votes for classroom unification.
Teacher has lost it, and wants participation.
I give up! Yells the X’s of multiplication.

Mathematics Pleiades

Maths questions I detest
Minus and plus I get
Mean and median too
Multiplication sucks
Measuring I can do
Mandlebrot set’s complex
My poor brain cannot cope!

Mr Math

we call him Mr. Math
Arithmetic is his path
itemizing and adding are his fun
counting numbers until day is done

multiplication is his thing
he’ll never buy a diamond ring
figuring taxes is what he likes to do
he does not have math phobia like me and you.

Automatic Decision- -

Automatic decision
 multiplication and division
 what is your position
You rant and rave
do you want to get paid
My disbursement
Dissatisfied associate
Positively misfigured
Composite picture
Automatic decision

Poetics

Meter is like math in my mind
and I cannot go down that path
of confusion again.
I remember the pain
of multiplication and division,
I dismiss the prosody of stresses or not.
Syllable count is my specialty,
as easy as 1-2-3 A-B-C.
Where is my calculator?
Where is my dictionary?

Formula For Fatality

Formula for fatality
I open the book on numbers
Searching for a masterful method
A recipe for ruin runs through my thoughts
And I see a perfect procedure
An equation equal to the end
An addition of a gun
A multiplication of blood
A division of the soul
And a subtraction of a life

The Measuring

Asked to measure love, what can you say, where do you start
easier starter, contentment, fulfillment and trust but,
no oceans depths nor deserts wide, can capture
to the galaxys above, go further
multiplication to grains of sand, on earh to the infinity of stars
love can be, a very powerful word.

On the Lay of Intoxication

On the lay of intoxication,
Drunken from the wine of Eden,
Couldn’t lift the eye lids of her lights,
As weights were upon them,
Yet depicts pleasure in the expression of her look,
Co’s she’s eaten from the seed of multiplication,
Know not if the seed dies into creature,
As the unborn embryo awaits,

Mathematical

Translation unknown
Translates to...
Understated home
Undecided to condone the manifestations
"Translation?"
Expect the unexpected
Expectation
Word to the wise, no rule to be to great'n
Unleash and treat it like multiplication
Triple down the system of the equation
Confusion
Placement

One Hundred

Hundred
Roman Numeral C
A century
A dollar
The whole percent
Ten times Ten
Ten decades
Divided by 1, 2, 4, 5, 10, 20, 25, 50 and himself
Makes counting easy
Is the star of borrowing in subtraction
Makes multiplication easy
100 dollars
The most money I ever saw
When I was a child
One time 100 was a war

nooks and crannies in Elementary Schools

There are now nooks and crannies in elementary school classrooms.
Places for children to slither and slide into
When they need a break
When they despise multiplication facts
When they are tired of reading
When I was a child I would have spent all day in one of these crannies
Ignoring the teacher as hard as I could

Forgotten Elementary Times

There are many things I will miss
All about elementary time
One of them is my mom's kiss
But I've had quite a fun time

We have had lots to learn
Some about George Washington
And we even had a pet fern
But don't forget the multiplication

Kids have had class together
Never once the class split
We might not be together forever
But now we'll be quite a hit

New from Newton

Why all the fuss?
Having trouble with calculus?
When dividing a number that may vary,
it needn't be so scary -
such division, not so primitive,
is called a derivative,
and the inverse of that operation,
a new-fangled multiplication,
which, by storm, is taking the nation,
by the name of integration.
If you disagree, and are disputin',
take it up with Isaac Newton.

Bodmas

within the bracket of the universe
                                     God has made all divisions
increased and expanded by multiplication one by one
                              added with systematic communication
                                at last destroys causes subtraction
in the same way everything changes in our lives

Divorce

Marriage is for better or worse!
Is divorce necessary to avoid a multiplication of troubles?
Sometimes, we should learn to accept things as they unfold,
If you forced to stay in the abusive relationship,
Maybe you wouldn't be where you are today,
But parted ways amicably and both of you are alive and doing very fine and well in life.

Lucifer the King of the Earth

I am Lucifer the Prince of daemons,
which I command like a bunch of minions,
for with them, I annex realms and subjects
who are no more than heavenly rejects,
distinct from saints, the apples of GOD'S eye.
In Eden's garden I hatched my first lie,
then with man's fruitful multiplication,
I assigned cohorts to every nation.
Today I reign on earth like sovereign lord,
with a crown I usurped without the sword.
