Christmas Choir

Come all ye faithful folk.
Choir practise is pending.
Carol service Sunday.
Christmas cake and mulled wine.
Cate's house or even mine.
Catching up with old friends.
Chatting over coffee.

Spice

pumpkin spice coffee
or mulled hot apple cider
october magic

pecan pie muffins
cinnamon hot chocolate
as the red leaves fall

white november days
eggnog in the afternoon
sledding at twilight

december teatime
a fruitcake on the table
and cardinals sing

Thanksgiving Sinner

This Thanksgiving I’ll nibble jerky Cos somebody just named my turkey The snow’s crisp and even I can’t feast on Stephen And mulled wine has made things look murky The turkey ran huffing and puffing And now I can’t locate my stuffing That feathery sinner Has gobbled my dinner And so I’m thanks-giving for nothing

The Silent Words

What are the silent words to say
That will be with me always
I think of the words each one
That I have treasured and mulled over when done

Those words need not be written down
For they are dear to me in their precious sound
So think of those I loved and have gone from here
Know I loved them for it is to me so clear.

Where Do Things Come From

our mental simulator is the incubator
     of our physical illustration
our mental perceptions of how events
               in our perceived physical world

are created by our inner most desires and cravings
to be tested and mulled over
          before manifesting themselves
in our physical world for final testing

President Calvin Coolidge

'Tis well known that "Silent Cal" Coolidge was a man of very few words!

He considered that long conversations and inane babble was for the birds!

A lady bet if she could elicit more than two words from him it would make news.

He mulled over her challenge for a few minutes and replied, "You lose!"

Evening Ember Glow

Written: March 14, 2025, for contest Sponsored by: Constance La France ***************** After the rain, the air smells musty and moist, and smoke swirls clumsily upward from chimneys, as they float away, the leaves crackle and rattle. Mulled wine soothes the spirit on cold nights, our eyes feast on the blazing fire as the sun sets.

Christmas Carol

Christmas Carol's
On the streets again
Turning tricks
While the clock ticks
Towards the saviour's day

No seat by the fire,
No pies and mulled wine
She pulls up her knickers
And steps back in line

A fat man arrives
To empty his sacks
But this sadistic 60-year-old
Is no Santa Claus

He's Old Nick instead
And Carol gets
One hell of a beating
As her festive gift

Whispering To Thee

Be thou wet and seasoned,
for we are richly mulled
int the wine of quiet passions.

Catch my breath
in your hungry mouth,
bleed into my veins
as purple as wine.

I want you under and over
my wanting hand,
like a white dove
fluttering
with featherlight desires,

those needs
of the eternal flame
that will not
depart
my beating,
or un-beating heart,
nor ever wither.

Warming Up Winter Noses

I think on these things and thank God for my granny
whose kitchen was always full of good smells for the
young and the old:

   cider
   pungent, mulled
   heady, mellow, festive
applejack, wassail ~~ Swiss Miss, hot chocolate
                                    creamy, soothing, sweet
                                    marshmallows, aromatic
                                    cocoa

          Mulled Cider

M-is for Merry Christmas.
U-is for unforgettable lights!
L-is for lullabies to the Christ
L-is to laughter with those you love
E-is the heady fragrance of evergreens
D-is for decorations, so divine

C-is for the carols we happily sing
I-is for the infant, Jesus, our King
D-is for December, snow on the ground
E-is for embraces with our family
R-if for revering and remembering

Time Passing Day By Day

Now, each day poses limitless opportunities for stress and strain -
New directions, new pains, new worries, brand-new doors open
Before older squeaky ones have closed, yesterday's problems
Had been mulled over, firmly grasped, solved, and cast aside.
