Spoken Words
Divorcing soon the tongue,the words,
Marrying them the hearing ears,
Flying up in the air the words,
Swallowing like balloons,
Letting their masters to lick their wounds!...

Premium Member Concerning An Ant's Dna
Skiing on a cup of java
  the little ant got burned
Limping out to lick his wounds
  he decided to return

Once again the ant was scalded
  yet he seemed quite unconcerned
I guess that ants are just not programmed
for this lesson to be learned...

Time
Time-
That is
All I ask.
Time to be old
Time to lick my wounds
For the battle was long
And the gains were few at times
But the victory was precious
And I would have it no other way
Before I meet my Maker, let me rest

May we be blessed in life…
wherever we happen to roam
to understand the significance…
the magnitude…
the importance of our home…

It’s where we lick the wounds from all our losses
where we celebrate our victories…our wins…
where every time we enter or exit
a new chapter in our life begins....

Elegant Lies, Inelegant Ties
What feral dogs bark at my door?
As I lick my wounds,
In de rigor discord,
Whose music do I play?
Or verses time has left to say,
What chattels at my core,
Deny me life I've lived before?
On my horizon I see tears,
Embark on my face to empty years,
With nowhere else to turn
I turn sideways
Whete I will spurn and then
Burn...

Grey Rabbit White Paper
Grey rabbit... White paper...

I am the grey rabbit
Snared, trapped by restrictive wires
Unseen
I reach for the quill of significance
Yet she teases
Just a tug too far
Ink wells spilt upon verde grass
Parchment paper
Leaves me parched
I cannot paint nor write
My fluffy tails lost it's sheen
I'm off down the burrow
To lick my wounds
And
Ensure my hovels clean...

A Review
Like frostbitten limbs lay bare to the ice cold breeze of a winter’s day

- Cold and without feeling are your words.

As the burnt orange autumn leaves that lay half decayed upon the ground

- So too your words fall flat.

With neither substance nor imagery; these words that my naked eye follow across
the page.

.....Now lick your wounds and learn from this....

Premium Member Running From Yourself
Running from yourself
Fast furiously and completely
Running farther than you ever did before
Resolving to change yourself into a better person
Deciding to show love to your fellow man
All seven days of the week not only your Sabbath
Running back quickly to lick your wounds
When people did not give you anything but doubt
Word of advice. You are with the wrong people....

"the Road of Love"
If my tears can fill a bucket...
Then my smile shall fill the sky...
If my hurt never came...
Then my love would never hide...
Without a fall or a trip, my heart
would have no aim...
If my scars healed to fast, then
there's nothing left to gain...
Walk with shoes that feel the ground...
And true love will call and always be found...
Lick your wounds and heal away...
And your heart will tick to a better day......

Where Does a Broken Heart Go
Where is it that a broken heart goes
To lick its wounds
To mend its soul
Perhaps there is a place
between the ribs and the spine
Maybe it runs there to retreat from the world
There it stays safely tucked away
From all the rejection, bitterness and hate
After it has time to look over its flaws
Regaining strength, poise and pride
It comes forward again, this time with
caution, grace and the skill known as
survival....

Marrwage Sweet Marrwage
Everybody abuses somebody at sometime. Tonight, it's my turn....again, and it's as painful as the first time. I'm helpless to fix it. Except this time I'm different. I have fire. Im full of rage. I'm dangerous. Come near me and I bite. Just let me lick my wounds. How dare you. I let you only because I love you so much and some day i'll do the same to you expecting the same resilience. I probably already have.

Before We Leave
You are alone in the bar, I am adrift.
You are isolated by sadness
(fair game).

I need to tell you I am not him.
I could be a better him,
but only for a while.

I want to put myself
between you and him,
as a dog will.

Vulnerability has made you desirable.
This predation is a mutual dance.
We both know you will do anything
if I listen to your story,

lick your wounds with my words
wag my tail,
just for you....

Premium Member Release the Dogs of War
release the dogs of war

release the dogs of war
undo their bindings
deny their wounds
delete their words

release the dogs of war
to scavenge
for the remnants
of an aching soul

release the dogs of war
from duty’s valor
terror’s trysts
furtive movements

release the dogs of war
to lick their wounds
alone
in tortured torment

release the dogs of war
into a war
from which
there is no release

The Arguement
We drive tainted words
into each other's hearts,
as swords thrust to wound
in anger and frustration.
Disillusioned with life,
she blames me,
I retaliate with the truth,
and her anger is spurred
by the fact
she knows I am right,
though she'll never admit it.
So we remain at a stand still
until morning,
when we rise,
and she acts as if nothing's happened,
leaving me alone
to slink off,
and lick my wounds,
knowing I'll never
be heard....
