Where Does a Broken Heart Go

Where is it that a broken heart goes To lick its wounds To mend its soul Perhaps there is a place between the ribs and the spine Maybe it runs there to retreat from the world There it stays safely tucked away From all the rejection, bitterness and hate After it has time to look over its flaws Regaining strength, poise and pride It comes forward again, this time with caution, grace and the skill known as survival.
