Happy Birthday Should Have

To write my poem took a while;
Should have seen her big smile;
Another year add;
Was not so bad;
Spread so wide at least a mile.

Drowning In a River of Tears

Germany scored seven goals, poor Brazil is awash with tears
Guess they won’t need any rainfall for at least a hundred years

Brick Wall

You're a terrible friend,
you let me bleed, you made me bend.
Still, i pine for you,
because at least a brick wall
is better to run to than nothing at all.

Hide and Seek

The sport I love is Hide and Seek
I try to hide for at least a week
I hide when her mom comes by
If not I would surely die
I know she's close when (it) starts to speak

Al Gore-Ithmic Angst

Writing poems in the algorithmic sands
Washed away by rippling waves on unseen sands
hoping in my drowning one will save me
Or at least a kindly reader someday “fave” me.

What I Want

For my cry
to my unveiled sadness
that someone wrap me up
in a warm embrace...
for this life
dark shaded,
a sun of joy,
or a candle stump
that if it doesn't heat up,
at least a little lightens...!

No Two Snowflakes Alike

No Smoking Counseling

If you want to stop smoking, you should seek counseling from me.
I have a lot of experience in that category.
Not smoking is sort of a hobby of mine.
I'm an expert on the subject. I've stopped at least a million times.

Poor Colin Kaepernick

Poor Mr. Colin Kaepernick
Claims America is racist, inegalitarian and sick
His professional football contract only pays him $11.4 million
Though his clear-eyed grasp of the issues makes him worth at least a billion

Message In a Bottle

I have a chance
(if things pan out)
to climb the local ladder.
Assistant to a Laureate
in poetic matters.

Wish me luck,
at least a fall that
leaves me writing better;
but if I fly,
cheer me on
earning all my letters.

I Wanna Be

Free is the price, of a dream,
The future is ripe, don’t you see.

Formulate it all, to a tee,
Don’t make a mistake, you see:

Sow twice as hard
To reap least a half,

Dreams will always be free,
From mine to yours to ours.

A Few More L's For Tracie

Living with a heart that's warm...
Looking for a page not worn...
Lighting in a sky with no sound...
Lifting teardrops when a hearts not found...
Loving words that shout for miles...
Last but not least, a poet who can always make me smile...

Merrily Rollicking

Comical how the squirrels are frolicking In the leaves that have covered the ground At least a dozen of them merrily rollicking Nipping and chasing each other all around Their eager playfulness is so astonishing. Written October 3, 2022

Rethinking an old Slogan

An apple a day keeps the doctor away
is an old slogan still believed to this day.
But surely a blunder, at the least a mistake
given a bite of apple the first woman ate
and plunged a promised paradise to doom
turning a garden into an emergency room.

Life

Life is a simple math
Matter of simple calculations
Life needs a strait path
With wisdom not speculations
But who is not at least a little bit psychopath?
Even God’s life is not so smooth
That’s why it seems so difficult
So much effort is wasted even by God!

Truth Unwraps

My life has been folded over
  at least a hundred times

With twilight comes exposure
  and a reckoning sublime

Each crease a thing I’d never done
each fold a place I’d hide

Now one by one the truth unwraps
 —my secrets open wide

Bugless Winter In Florida

There hasn't been
a fly, wasp, or mosquito

For quite some time, now,
making it rather vexing

To diss in rhyme
about local pests,

Though, at the very
least-a, our Cuban anoles

Are guests in Havana
until after Easter.

That's where they went
to observe Lent.

Walls

We built a chinkless wall
Without blueprints at all.
We did not pause to think
About this wall of ours,
As stone by stone it rose
Above our tiptoed eyes.

Trash piled up on both sides
Of what our labor laid;
Yet, at least, a rose climbs,
Prideless,
Upon this moss-grown side.

Nature's Ways

I have seen a red sunset at least a thousand times
I've watched how the Northern lights play in the winter skies
And I have heard it all described within a poets rhymes
But I'd never seen Bobbie Ann bat those big brown eyes
Now the world is upside down when I prioritize

Stop Meddling

Who is it you're trying to please
by meddling with such trivialities
Now you're fixin what isn't broken
and ignoring those who've spoken

What priorities are of value to you
seem to be usless to at least a few
people who see no need for change
those who find it weird and strange

Sport Acrostic

SPORT

Seven centuries ago we'd send our men out the back door
Pushing shoving kicking is the sign they need a war
Or at least a good old brawl down at the local bar
Racing with that joy they feel when all beat with bruisers
Trailing bloody clothes and tales of the guy who was the looser
