Premium Member Mistakes While Writing

erasers are nice
but we learn from our mistakes
so why erase them

why not cross it out
jot down another sentence
and make it complete

Fifty Words

To celebrate aging to fifty,
A poet thought it would be nifty
	To jot down some verse;
	He wasn’t averse
To being, with words, rather thrifty.

Equipped with both paper and pen,
He struggled, again and again;
	He had little luck,
	Annoyingly stuck,
Then got it and yelled out Amen!

Premium Member Poetry Somewhere

Somewhere in the Universe
I am clocking my mind
Be it on a poetry group
Or a dream sublime

Somewhere the time is right
We have limited time to do
So I pour my mind
Into a poetry frame for you

I jot down a verse
An pen down a line
It all pours out of me
My thoughts now rhyme.

Sweet Silver Blue

Heart-warming wine
Jot down a line
Mood changes hue
To sweet silver blue

How high the cost
How much is lost
Back payment due
To sweet silver blue

Head shake and sigh
None left to deny
Insight in view
To sweet silver blue

Somehow I gain
Beauty from pain
As thoughts turn to you
To sweet silver blue

Premium Member Sunday Returns

Decadent ice cream sundae afternoon,
you let me come undone and melt slowly.
Licking the delicate parts of the spoon
I’m immersed in the taste of strawberry.
Sunday returns and is devoured so soon,
there’s no time to jot down the recipe.
Relax and enjoy the sweetest moment
and worry not on the calories spent.

Pen Disguised As a Hair Clip

Sat to jot down limerick in log book Inept to find my pen carried miffed look Probed my mum who lay on bed She guffawed and slapped my head The clutched one tumbled from hair as I shook

Monologue Part 1

After she climaxed, I reached for my pen to jot down the impossible
What was then the improbable transitioned into my truth
In awe of my previous experiences
She lies comfortablely by my hip
Shocked but pleasantly surprised by her athleticism
This was the championship round and she was victorious
Surrealism is my current reality

Premium Member I Would Leave a Note

I would say good bye to no one
except my husband, if he were here
If he was at the store, I would jot down a little note
It would say do not cry; I am eager to go
And do NOT waste any of my money on a funeral
Take whatever is left and go out to eat
Take salsa-making lessons
buy yourself that new car you have always wanted
Love, Mom

Premium Member Breeze Through Poetry

Amidst the chitter chatter, The cool breeze blows, In the hubbub of life, Poetry freely flows; Listen to its sweet murmur, Reaching you through the din, As the breeze touches you, Tingling your skin; Jot down the soft words, Slowly as they come, Smile as it refreshes you, In this dull humdrum. 08/22/18

The Writer In Me Wants You To Know

The writer in me
Wants you to know
That I love to
Jot down my thoughts
Even though I’m
Fairly new at this
The writer in me
Wants you to know
That I write short stories
And wants to write a screen play
The writer in me
Wants you to know
That I have constant
Interruptions and a writer’s block
That sometimes followers me around

F L a M E S

A short slender stick,
I used to jot down
the word "flames"-
in the sunny sandy shore.

I wrote our names,
crossed out those the same
with excitement and hope
that my counting ended in love.

My cheeks turned to pale;
because it was only a friend,
I tried again then mumbled:
better luck to the next crush.

The high tide came
and washed out all, I left.

Keys Broken With This -Not- Love Letter

My fingers ache from trying to jot down my feelings into words.
The time it has taken me to type
could have been spent cutting my heart into thirds
opposed to waiting for the feelings of my heart to ripe.

The cracks running down my veins are bursting in the air.
The fact of the matter
is that you do not care.
Thanks for waiting for my fingers to compose this to let my feelings shatter.

Premium Member Diary Day 108

My diary:
What I see...

Plain words brink
Thoughts in ink

Jot down notes
Lines sans rote

What I did?
Fit what feed!

Feel each thought
Play with plot

Spend or save
Live life brave

Love lives laugh
Tough greet rough

Feed and crave
Fool and knave

Words in ink
Scribble links

Smiles and tears
Faith now steers

On the brink
Brand new think

Premium Member Father's Gift

I've seen my father in my dreams
and traveled to where, it seems,
he is still composing verse
and, happily, we converse.

His poetry plays in my head.
I wake, in haste, jump out of bed
and quickly jot down what was said.
My father is alive, not dead!

He lives in all my poetry.
He'll always be a part of me.
No one can take away his light
as long as I continue to write.

Fulfilling the Command

On a bench in the sun,
With the river close by,
I can get something done
(Or at least I can try).

For out here I unwind
As I soak up the rays
And I’m likely to find
Something I can appraise.

With my pencil in hand
And a notebook page, blank,
I fulfill the command,
With the river to thank,

That I jot down a poem
(Which is almost complete).
Now it’s time to head home;
There’s some popcorn to eat.

Premium Member Power

Awe is a power unto itself
By its very nature transforms us
The best part is it is free, natural
Continually available

Question:
Am I willing to awaken to awe?

This is not original. I do not know the author. I would like anyone who is willing to try to
find as many awe inspiring moments as possible in each day. Look for the unsual. Jot down
what is awesome to you and share with us here at soup.

Rhymes

Word repetitions with similar sounds come with rhythms quite often in rounds to pen and paper from deep within me thus jot down so-called poetry. Once there before- see with my eyes lyrics from words- music disguised and I am proud to call this all mine -scores of notes from once were rhyme. Spirit and words are often harmonic creating tunes which we call music. To work and perform-essentially a must, not poetry, not music but delivering us!

Friday

The wind whispers gentle obscenities with it's icy breath...
Assurances that I am truly alone...
I stumble and fall on the hard concrete...
The true fallacy is home...
Walking aimlessly into the night...
I focus on all that I've lost...
I jot down random words..
Rhyming at any cost...
The song in my head is slightly off key...
Still dabbing the blood from my injured knee...
I'm always making it all about me...
I rot in this prison yet I am free...

My Calendar

The squares are blank; I jot down all
The birthdays to remember,
From one this week right up until
The last week in December.

I hang it on the wall right where
The old one used to be,
A colorful reminder of
The dates of note to me.

I add appointments, travel plans
And volunteering days,
So rarely do I miss a trick;
Such perseverance pays.

The new year dawns with promise
And with many voids to fill.
My calendar’s a testament
That on most days, I will.

My Poems Are Not Mine

Sometimes thoughts pour out from within Like a fountain of water At those times I sit with my mobile to jot down the matter Anything can overwhelm me emotionally Beauties of nature, inspirational quotes, articles, poem's, day-to-day acts... sufferings, social issues, movie, song... At those times poem flows from within A beauty gets created by Gods grace I am not my poem's author... Similar thing happened today so I wrote a poem.

For Chris D.

Aye, 'Tis so 'tis so... Chris D...
New 'twas me excuse...
As did I peruse...
Those comments on me rimes did flow...

Knew naught o'what might be right...
Thought with quick pen best be to write...
With no notion of seeming contrite...
To those that seemed fine ... with me rimes o'the time...
I'd simply jot down a line!

Thanx to they that had written...
To them whot me rimes had so smitten...
Was me plan all along...
So thought I couldna be wrong...

Sanmati Jain a Source, Part V

Sanmati, my angel, has decorated jawline.
Aside puts cold anger and does repine
Negative things in her life, but always supine
Merry things about the wide world divine.
Against me or her things she despise saline.
Tough tenderness she got for me in palatine,
Ignoring angry love or a speck on her tine
Jot down related things like family of feline.
Almighty may support her in future design
Illustrating Triumph and Failure, outshine
Nebo by her sweet behavior saccharine.

Everybody Writes a Book

EVERYBODY WRITES A BOOK

They write a script,
A poem on quips,
A paragraph,
A typed last draft,
He wrote a play,
She wrote today,
They wrote together,
A score that's clever.
It takes time,
To write a rhyme,
And jot down notes,
With double quotes,
Compose sublime,
In double time,
Move the dance,
With old romance.
The written condition,
(It's my suspicion),
Or one I took,
That when I look,
EVERYBODY,
WRITES A BOOK.
