Jonson's Ghost
The inn had gone to waste: I’d sold it off in haste.
Awaking in the gloom, as orbs lit up the room,
I recognised the ghost of Jonson, the old host.
I said, ‘I thought you’d come’ - and poured myself a rum.
He shouted, ‘Hey, you louse, how dare you sell MY house!’

Human Folly
Forests are felled
There once dwelled life -
Now quelled by greed.

Pulp to paper -
The razor tears
Through curtained flesh

Let’s laud our wit -
Bark - on it.. We
have writ ‘Save trees’!

Premium Member The Gift Is Today
You do not have to pay, to have fun play
To live in today and dance as you may
To make way for those who are in dismay
To have faith and pray for love not to stray
To choose what to say from the heart to stay
To be what you may, the gift is today

Light breaking forth at dawn reveals right there on my lawn a lovely sight to which I’m drawn: a wee woodland sprite to gaze upon, prancing with joy and delight, a red fawn.

At times, I'd just like to slap that Seuss; hendecasyllabic seems obtuse. But Gwawdodyn's no use: three nines, a ten, and internal rhymes to be set loose.
---- There! Now I can say I've tried a Gwawdodyn: a Welsh quatrain with an aaxa rhyme scheme, specific syllable counts (9/9/10/9), and internal rhyme requirements on line 3. Onward! 1-xxxxxxxxa 2-xxxxxxxxa 3-xxxxbxxxxb 4-xxxxxxxxa...

Hip hip hooray, I’m on my holiday; at our beach chalet; it’s called Castaway! It is here I stay with my best friend Faye; on soft sand we lay, I could tan all day! Boats bob and sway, we watch them sail away I get soaked from sea spray down at the bay! Premium Member Early Morning Sunrise
The whispy silver strands that grace the morning sky
Are reflectors of the sun at early sunrise
It constantly changes the scene with radiant surprise
Like a catalogue page of shirts of different tie-dye

What a delight, how can I choose just one
For each second produces glorious morning delight
Filling my being with each new colorful sight
The crows, roosters, crickets each sing praise to Son

Middle Rhyme
Poems using internal rhyme I write them all the time
It is a way to express and sometimes to confess
I write them in my own way and make a point with what I say
Poetry Soup has many contests, man I hope I win cuz I really want this
You do crosswords for fun, I write poems of the run
This is the first try at internal rhyme sorry I lied in the first line
If you like writing poems too keep em coming and I’ll read them soon....

Light dawns outside and yet the clock
delays its morning squawk. Of late,
my furry mate and I would walk,
but balk she does till nearly eight.
It’s great that she can stay asleep;
I leap from bed at hours strange.
Deranged to most, I wish they’d keep
on saving, stop the bleeping change.

Thump a word on the vine,
then bump it on the next line.
As they jump, things start to align.
Don’t mean to dump, but well, okay, fine;
just like DeSantis beating Trump: divine.

----------

A Jump Rhyme is a monorhyme with 5 lines.
They have 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 syllables.
Then, the internal rhyme starts on word 1
and jumps to word 2 on the second line,
to word 3 on the third line, and so forth.

Line length is by syllables; internal rhyme by words.

Kinda fun!...

Fairies On the Lawn - Internal Rhyme
Fairies dance with great romance
and display upon the lawn.
As they prance, don't give a glance
at what they may spawn.

As they play and swirl and sway,
they create a magic spell.
It's their way to make us gay;
they do it so well.

Come in sight at darkest night,
while reveling in their fun.
In moonlight, they glow so bright,
almost like the sun.

In delight, 'neath bright moonlight,
with their frolic they persist.
It seems trite, a fairy sprite,
but they do exist....
