Premium Member The Loud Scary Digger Machine
Discussing the loud scary digger machine
Because it is terrifying their children
Badger takes the helm; he stirs them up
Rabbits and hedgehogs are slow to get hot
Squirrel is hopping around like a maniac, being squirrel.
Blue jay keeps his opinions silent, listening to wren and finch.
Poppies, wild rose and daisy keep their opinions for later....

One Shoe
Winter has left one empty shoe
upon the doorstep.
Around that footless mouth
tulips grow
despite the muscular winds
and a thin sunshine.

The crisscrossing of the seasons
does not confuse the land,
people grow out of themselves
as do the ants and the hedgehogs,
the green womb cannot be emptied
by just one shoe and its gaping mouth
no matter how loud it shouts....

Premium Member The Hedgehog Written For My Two Little Grandaughters
The Hedgehog

The Hedgehog went for a walk one day.

Off out all on his own, What can I say.

He crossed the road but he forgot to look left and right.

He didn’t see the car, In his sight.

It ran him over now he’s dead.

So we buried him, With a little cross, made out of lollipop sticks which read.

Hedgehogs dead.

Written for my two little Grandaughters....

Hedgehog Visits
I smell the muggles coming,
Came to me in dreams
I dreamt in fields of bamboo and willow.
Willows weep upon the pillows
Of rabbit holes well nested
Nests of fur and grasses sweet,
Sweeter are the days
Daylit golden sunrise prickles,
Spiney light like hedgehogs
Glistening with dew drops
Dropping by to wake my
Eyes open, like gray pearls
Arising from foggy banks,
Reminding me to snuggle....

Premium Member Hedgerows
Beneath the undergrowth deep
Awakening from a winter sleep,
Hedgehogs stir in nocturnal nuzzle,
Uncurl their defensive puzzle;
Shrews,woodmice and voles
Quiver,and quickly desert their holes;
Badgers air the bracken couchette,
Forage for food around their sett;
Hustle,bustle in each earthly niche
To illustrate nature's pastiche
Midst hedgerows of yesteryear,
To preserve,protect and hold dear....

In Glee
When hearts are torn in sorrow
And days await weeks to borrow
A scented Eurasian herb called yarrow
I stand afar in glee;

When blessings are so nearby in mass
And hedgehogs hop upon the green-grass
On a melody for a dancer trying a chasse
I stand afar in glee;

When love is the surname of every being
Shimmering sincerity and guaranteeing
Its rank in holiness and power of freeing
I stand afar in glee!

Premium Member Santa Badger was a Pushover
Santa Badger can handle it Mrs. Badger said.
She was in charge, and this is not in my head.
I have seen the two together, she gives him no leeway.
He cringes from her directions by the end of their day.

Santa Badger was a pushover and gave much away.
Bunnies, hedgehogs, and mice soon showed up to play.
Let’s go out and eat, one of the mothers suggested.
By end of the day Babysitter Badger’s nerves were sorely tested....

heart of autumn

heart of autumn waits
not pacing with anxious steps ~

  rain tarantellas

hazy sunlight fades
fall shadows stretch across fields ~

Sharpness
Needle spinosity into my spine; whimper - whine, dine.
Bluntness on top of cattle heads, humans must be fed.
Spikelet tack - cork. Sage stuffing, serve with pork dead.
Hedgehogs and porcupines - sharp hairs, sharp quills.
Adam's-needle, blood drops drop. Axes - blood spills.
Chevaux-de-frise; comb a peg-tooth harrow.
Watch flights of the Spring-tooth sparrow.
Canine teeth bite the black birds, absurd.
Featheredge ones pull out,
Sharp teeth under a snout....

Autumn
Autumn.
                            Chill in the air.
                    Squirrels stash bereted nuts.
Plump hedgehogs gorge on farewell feasts
And apples blush at the sun's warm caress.
Dreamy trees are roused from slumber
                   And undressed by the breeze.
                        Proud pumpkins beam;
                                 Autumn

My Garden - My Little Bit
My little bit of natural life.
Its biodiversity rife.
Frogs, bugs, butterflies, hedgehogs, mice.
Annuals, perennials, lice.
Fruit, cherries, blackberries, no strife!

All in peak condition, no blite.
Every day new finds excite!
New for the county too, quite nice.
My little bit!

Records have to be recorded… type.
New finds my contribution… life
Each new record another slice,
For what it takes I’ll pay the price.
Enjoyed by me and my dear wife.
My little bit!...

Save The Hedgehogs.

There's a family of hedgehogs living in our hedge-row.
If we pull it all down they'll have no-where to go!
We could wait till next year, until they're all fully grown
then find them a new place, they can safely call home.

We will find them a new place with plenty of shrubs
with berries and things with slimy old bugs.
A place safe away from the hunters mad dogs.
Then in keeping them safe there will always be
a family we call our hedge-row hedgehogs....
